Seems like this is a big year for our very own Sanam Mody Saeed. She has been keeping busy in her professional commitments, making appearances endorsing brands, raising public awareness and playing the protagonist in HUM TV's Dil Banjara.

But that's not it. The Zindagi Gulzar Hai star has bagged not one but two awards so far this year, one on the home ground for Best Supporting Actress at the Lux Style Awards'17 and the other for Best Actress at the Eastern Eye Awards held in London, for her work in a Pakistan-British collaborative movie titled Rahm.

Saeed played the protagonist in Rahm. She was shown fighting the system for justice against corruption. Rahm is a dark tragedy based on William Shakespeare's play titled Measure for Measure. The movie was directed by Ahmed A. Jamal, and was also released in England, aside from Pakistan.

"It was a proud moment and an honor for me to be a part of a platform that recognizes and rewards the efforts and work of British South Asians in arts and culture. Rahm was a British-Pakistani collaboration. I am very proud of the award and the recognition that I have received at ACTA." Saeed told HIP.

"It is humbling to see and win an award as a South Asian on an international platform. There was a time when South Asians were type casted, played stereotypes like Punjabis or other similar roles but never a central character. It gives me delight to be acknowledged and to know that we can now portray mainstream roles not only in Pakistan, but internationally as well and be recognized for that." Sanam shared over a telephonic conversation.

Held in London last weekend, the Eastern Eye ACTA also nominated Pakistani-Canadian actor Armeena Rana Khan for her performance in Janaan.

On the work front, the leading lady from Zindagi Gulzar Hai is currently busy shooting for her fourth cinematic venture Cake - The Film, alongside Aamina Sheikh and Adnan Malik. According to Sanam, she will play a very complex, multi-layered character wrapped in her present, her past, love, regrets and family ties. Sanam shared that Cake is a never-seen or heard-before type script.
