The filmmaker dropped the project for fear of repurcussions of making a film on a Hindu God.

Karan Johar, who had bought the rights of author Amish Tripathi's Shiva trilogy, is not making the film anymore.

The filmmaker dropped the project for fear of repurcussions of making a film on a Hindu God. Amish has another explanation, "The contract had expired. There were various issues but Karan and I have parted as friends. Amish, who is busy promoting his latest book, Sita Warrior of Mithila, adds that a fresh contract has been signed with a new studio and they will be making an announcement soon.

When Karan was producing the film, Hrithik Roshan was in talks for the lead role. Will that change? Amish says, "Now, the new studio and the new director will decide. Watch this space.

Best decision! He never had the ability to make this as a film. Would have spoilt it by casting Sid as Shiva and Alia as Sati. If they get a HW studio onboard they can make a world class film.

Thank God, he is not making it wouldve ruined it completely. I wonder who the new director and studio is.

Hope they cast HR and Aish for the roles they seem to be the perfect choice .

If not them then i think RS- DP would fit the bill

The first book was so promising... If they do make it, hope they rewrite the other two...third one completely if possible

Wonder who the new director and studio are...wish Ashutosh Gowariker could direct this one (he did a great job with Jodha Akbar).

But please don't cast Hrithik as the male lead, urgh. And Sid might look the part, but I doubt his ability to sell the character.

Someone like Rajamouli could work wonders with a story like this...
