Chapter 7
"Grief is like an ocean it comes in waves, ebbing and flowing. Sometimes the water is calm and sometimes it is overwhelming."
The day followed was Sunday and Zoya was back to her home to welcome Humeira since the duo planned to spend time together before Zoya got busy in her work.
This is the first visit of Humeira after Zoya shifted back here and so she here to stay for few days. Zoya really felt great excitement after a really long time for something other than her work related.

The Sunday at Khans were more or less the same with a day spent for family and was few discussions of approaching exams of the youngsters.
Nikhat and Najma was hunched up in their room the whole day in preparing for the exams with Nuzhat keeping an eye on them.
It was during the discussions in lunch time their topic moved into last day's function.
The youngsters shared their new knowledge about the relation of Humeira and Zoya.
Elders even though know Siddiquis for a long time was not much aware about the relation and was quite surprised with the new found information.
"I am still confused.. then Zoya aapi' could have shifted with them right.?" Nuzhat couldn't help but gave her bhaijan a smug look making Asad shake his head.
"Also moving away would have helped her at that tender age of five. She could have moved on from their memories which would surely hurt her." Nikhat too agreed as they resumed their conversation from last night.
"May be because of the same reason she would have stayed back. She wanted to stay in touch with those memories." Asad gave his point.
"That make sense!" Dilshad agreed and Shireen too nodded her head.
"Must have taken the poor girl some courage to live until here!" Dadi really felt for the girl.
"She is a strong girl Ammi"! Rashid said knowing the achievement of the girl in just one year and felt proud of her even without meeting her once. "Her parents would have been definitely felt proud of her if they have been around!"
"Just like our Asad making us proud!" Shireen added.
"Ammi are we not making you proud?" Nuzhat asked faking offence.
"Let me think about it..." Shireen replied playing along.

It was in afternoon when Humeira came over and Zoya couldn't control herself and took her over a hug.
Both the sisters had lot to catch up since it has been a very long time when they got much ample time to share the littlest details of their lives.
"Waise aapi aap toh star ban gayi overnight." Humeira started her crazy babble as soon as she settled in.
"Star toh ban gayi lekin ab bhi aasman se kaafi dur hai." Zoya replied.
"Aur haan its not over night!" Zoya mock scolded her pointing the index-finger.
"Arre mazaak kar rahi hoon baba! Mujhe pata hai aap kitna zyada mehnat kiya hai aur han kar rahi hai." Humeira defended herself even though she know that her sister is just pretending.
Humeira knows how insecure Zoya is about her position in the company as she feels she didn't deserves it and so Humeira did not want Zoya to doubt herself yet again because of her stupid antics.
"I am glad I managed to achieve something in this one year and if it had not been Uncle, Haider and you I don't think I would have done anything at all."
"Acha toh aap thanks bolne wali hai?" Humeira asked narrowing her eyes
"Arre bilkul nahi! meri itni himmat ki mein tumhari sikhayi hui baat bhul jaun..I remember madam..'No sorry, No thanks!' "Zoya ended shaking her head.
"Good. Islie toh sab kehte hai you are such a good student. Ammi kal keh rahi thi how fast you learned the business and all. All are very proud of you". Humeira praised her sister and her words are totally genuine and true.
Zoya gave Humeira a tearful smile making Humeira wonder what happened all of a sudden which could have brought tears to Zoya's eyes. She knew Zoya would tear up only in the mention of the parents other than that her sister is quite strong and could take everything in her stride.
Brainstorming for a while Humeira realised the reason and blaming herself for her sister's misery, She added "Even your parents would be."
That is all what took Zoya to let her tears fall freely but she didn't want to be a mess when she managed to get some time to spend with her sister after long. So after Humeira wiped her tears Zoya gave her a smile which made her eyes twinkle.
Humeira silently observed the breathtaking smile of her sister's which would only mark its presence in rarest of occasions.
"Now talking about your success, do you remember how nervous you were before joining the company? It's just 1 year ago and now look not only your company but also you have grown as a businessperson. I am so so happy for you!" Humeira recollected.
"Kya baat hai..today many praises are coming my way.."
"Ok..now if you don't want them then I won't say anything.."Humeira sealed her lips.
"Achaa..aur meine socha ki tum kohoge ke that is the truth or something along those lines!" Zoya said raising her eyebrows.
"Woh kya hai naa mein kabhi kabhi jhoot bhi bolti hoon toh.." Humeira added mischeviously.
Zoya shaked her head at her sister's craziness. Soon the duo chatted about Humeira's life in New York and her friends over there.
Zoya laughed hearing Humeira explaining about some prank that her friends pulled on her and she had already complained about it like a million times in their conversations. Still the childish antics of her sister could vanish all the looming sadness over her.
"Aapi aap fir se shuru ho gayi...aren't u tired laughing at the same tale again and again.." The younger one whined.
"If you could whine about the same thing again and again then why can't I laugh?" Zoya questioned controlling her laughter.
The dinner was fun in spite of the addition of only one more member and both the girls soon called it a night as the excitement of the day caught up with them.

Zoya and Humeira planned to spend the next day themselves visiting Dargah and the graveyard of Zoya's parents where Humeira became Zoya's support. Zoya had already decided to take leave from her work for the first half of the week as she has to leave for Mumbai for the meeting in the other half.
Humeira was not much pleased to know that Zoya has to leave soon that too for 3 days soon after her arrival but knowing Zoya she did not create much fuss about it.

After their pre-planned visits the duo decided to move into a park and reminisced their childhood days spent in the same place.
"Waise aapi Ayaan kal keh rahi thi ki aap Asad bhaijan se already mil chuke hain. Aur aap toh mujhe bataya hi nahi. I know you too fangirl him lekin itna possessive? Humeira started her antics.
"So you remember his words? Waise meri behen kaafi attentive ho gayi ya phie sirf Ayaan ki hi baatein yaad rakhti hai? Ignoring Humeira babbling Zoya concentrated on her topic of interest.
"O! Madam! don't change the topic! answer me! Humeira demanded.
Sighing Zoya said " It wasn't an actual meeting. Jab hum baat kiya tha tab I was not aware that he is AAK and after I came to know about it we didn't get a chance to talk.
Glancing at Humeira's confused face Zoya went on to explain their earlier encounters.

Nikhat and Najma decided to take a break from their studies and informing the elders moved to nearest park to refresh themself with Nuzhat tagging along.
The Khan girls were surprised to see Zoya and Humeira there with some serious discussion going in between them. They decided not to disturb them and was moving to other side of the park when Humeira caught their sight and called over.
"Hey guys..come join us.."
After sharing the greetings Khan girls got busy sharing about their approaching exam and their tension over the same.
"It's okay guys. You both will do well. I have already heard how intelligent you Khans are." Humeira tried to boost their spirit.
"Wohi to hai problem. Asad bhaijan toh hai genius aur pata nahi kaise Ayaan bhaijan bhi achha result laaya aur agar humse nahi hua toh.." Najma shared the reason behind their misery.
"Kaise nahi hoga. You are their sisters. You guys will definitely make your family proud." Zoya couldn't stop herself from easing their tension.
"Aur haan since you all have said I am your role model you will definitely do well. After all your achievement is in a way mine too." Zoya tried to lighten up surprising the Khan sisters.
"Bas zyaada tension mat lena" Zoya advised like an elder sister too.
Soon the conversation became more fun filled with Khan girls and Humeira chatting away and Zoya trying to speak a word or two in between.
When the sky turned darker with sun moving away in promise of a new tomorrow the girls moved out of the park with the girls promising to make their role model proud.

During dinner, Humeira noticed Zoya is lost.
"Aapi you were totally in ease with Khans today and I am so happy to see you like that. Warna aap ko toh apne professional life ke baahar koi nazar hi nahi aati. Yes exception for me, Haider and your uncle."
"Even I surprised myself "Zoya shared even though she is little irritated with Humeira's words.
The following two days both the sisters spent together sharing the littliest of things in their life and also creating more memories.
Zoya was planned to leave for Mumbai on Thursday for the scheduled meeting and her return flight was booked for Sunday morning.
Thus bidding good bye to Humeira the previous Zoya made her way to railway station to catch her train along with Haider who is going to drop her.
It was during her journey towards the station only she called her secretary to leave the ticket in office so that she could collect it on her way. But due to some miscommunication the ticket was not confirmed yet and she is still in the waiting list. Her secretary was very much embarrassed and nervous about the matter.
Haider caught on the conversation and asked her to cut the call before she could explode at her secratery.
"Zoya, its okay poor girl was on sick leave for last week. Relax. We have time. I hope that we could manage a ticket from the station now. Aur waise aaj flights bhi nahi hai."
Zoya who was half listening to his words rambled "Aur agar I don't get the ticket I will hail a cab. Anyway there is no other option."
Haider shaked his head knowing his words would not get into her brain when it is on overdrive.
On reaching the station, they were not able to arrange a last minute ticket they neededand both the friends started fighting to decide how they will manage.
Zoya was adamant on taking a cab while Haider was apprehensive of the idea due to his protective self.
Zoya was explaining to Haider "Haider meine kaha na.." when someone cleared his throat interrupting her midway.

Asad witnessed their fight when he was passing through the same corridor to wait for his train. He knew he has reached the station very much early for his train but this time he can't take chances of missing the train like his last experience with the flight.
He gave them a quick glance and realised both of them are having some silly fight which is common among friends but he decided to interrupt as the scene could easily grab more attention if they didn't stop soon.
And so he entered the scene clearing his throat
"erm.., I understand you are having some fight among friends but you are creating a scene and will soon grab more attention which I suppose you don't want"
Glancing at their bewildered faces he continued
"Sorry for interrupting but I guess you could continue elsewhere or if.."
Before Asad could continue Haider took charge sheepishly.
"Thanks a lot man. It usually happens when we fight that we forget our surroundings."
Asad gave a amused look glancing the embarrassed faces of both of them.
"It's alright rather it was very amusing you see." Asad tried to ease their situation.
"Waise what are you doing here?" Haider asked trying to get over his embarrassment.
"Last time I checked people come here to board trains." Asad was in a playful mood.
"No I mean are you here to board yourself or to receive someone seeing you are alone." Haider continued understanding Asad's teasing.
"I was just kidding Sheikh. I am here for the train to Mumbai as you might be knowing about the meeting scheduled for tomorrow."
With Asad's words both Haider and Zoya realised their situation. Haider gave a look to Zoya who glared at him after being silent for a while since Asad entered the scene.
Observing their exchange Asad asked "Is there any problem both of you seem worried?" Realising he may be intruding he continued "I am sorry to intrude but is there that I could help with"
Haider replied to it smiling at how polite and helpful he sounded.
"No there is nothing to intrude actually Zoya was going to attend the same meeting but her tickets are not confirmed yet and due to some miscommunication we came to know about this now only. So she is in a fix.."
"Also there are no flight too right?" Asad continued catching upon their situation.
Zoya was not liking how Haider shared everything about the situation to Asad even though she has nothing against him but she stayed silent deciding to see where the situation leads.
"If you guys don't mind why don't you join me as the one who was supposed to accompany me was not able to make it and I guess we could manage your tickets if you are top in the waiting list."
Asad suggested addressing Zoya and glancing at their bewildered reaction he said
"Actually my sisters said how well you all bonded and if I intentionally leave out a chance to help you then they won't be much pleased you see so.."
Haider was happy with the proposal as he was not much support of leaving Zoya alone this time and now with Asad by her side he know he could be relieved, as he trust the man very much even though this was just their second meeting.
"Actually it was very sweet of you and I don't think we have any other options as of now so let's give it a try.."
"But Haider I could hail a cab too" Zoya spoke for the first time in a while
"Zoya we already spoke and fought over it and if we didn't manage the ticket you could hail a cab" Haider spoke in a stern voice but his last words surprised Zoya as he gave in but before she could respond or a smile could make its way to her face Haider continued .
"Then I too will accompany you as I am not ready to take any chances with your safety."
Asad already left for the counter as he gave them their time to patch up and soon Haider joined him.
They somehow managed to get the seat for Zoya and the trio waited for the train.
During their wait they had few casual conversation and as the time for the train approached Haider thanked Asad for his gesture.
"No need for thanking me. You see I did this to save myself from my sisters and I guess even my brother since he too is a fan of her. "Asad continued glancing at Zoya who is still little miffed at Haider thus sitting on another bench in the platform but was able to hear to hear the conversation.
"You guys share an amazing bond right?" Haider spoke with
"Ofcourse but you will be very sorry if you come face to face to their evil side." Asad said with full adoration in his voice.
Haider gave him a quick smile but Zoya who could easily catch Haider's expression from other side, whispered "He knows it already" shaking her head.

"It's okay I understand you are independent and this might have affected your self-respect but trust me I didn't feel it as big as you guys are portraying it."
"And also by agreeing to this you gave your friend a big relief as I could easily see how worried he was for you when you both were fighting. O sorry if I crossed my limit but you see being a brother I understand his concerns for you too."
Asad clarified his state.
"I know him but at times I feel he goes over protective. I very well know he won't ever let me leave in a cab but still I fought over it. That is how our friendship works."Zoya shared her side with a sigh at the end. "Weird right? she questioned sheepishly.
Asad agreed "Kind of but every friendship is weird in its own way I guess. Take our case for example."
"Our case? "Zoya was totally confused here.
Asad chided himself mentally but continued "Yes we both, we were plane buddies and now we became train buddies and in future we will have to work together too."
"Plane and train buddies..that's are quite some terms" Zoya spoke even though she didn't feel any discomfort with their friendship'.
