Bahubali was not just about VFX and being the costliest film ...
It was not just about action, stunts, beautiful sets, great cinematography

there was something in the story which made people connect emotionally with bahubali and devsena . People went to watch it again and again. The script and cinematic technology was the winner for bahubali. It didnt matter for north, east, west audience about the casting
and moreover , rana dagubaati and prabhas are good looking

But in Robot 2.0

it looks more of a complete action oriented movie with lot of great vfx, stunts , great cinematography.
The story wont connect wit the masses as bahubali did. Robot will be loved by younger generation mostly. But when i went to see bahubali in theatre the old aunties were equally excited for the story of mahishmati.
so it seems the universal appeal lacks a bit here for robot.

In south the fans of rajnikanth will get him a great opening and may even cross bahubali.

But in North, West, East..people are not that big fan of rajnikanth
yes even prabhas didnt had fan following in north, east, west but still he managed to get audiences of north because he is young, looks good and was playing prince in armour shining.
But Rajnikanth is so so old now , doesnt look charismatic even with the make up to charm the audiences of north, west, east.
Putting akshay kumar as villain can get just a section of audience for first day mega collections, but since rajnikanth is the lead i doubt audienes of north, east, west will spend so much on him/

in south its different people worship rajnikanth. But in north, west, east , its good looks of the lead actor that matters. E.g salman in his 50's is continuing so well because he is very hot and handsome. same thing cant be said about raknikanth.
Only thing that can help robot gain footprints in box office of north, west, east... is if the script is very very universal for all type of indian audiences. Or if its only about sci-fi, action, revenge and no solid story as backdrop then gone case.

but in south it will be blockbuster...just need to see how north india, west india and east india reacts

If a movie is good it works anywhere irrespective if it's from South North East or West...

that iam also telling

but how do you define good?
good for youth, good for kids, women
or universally good

so bahubali was universally good
but robot has its own genre

lets see

It has Akki as villian , it would be a Hit in Hindi version. BB2 has increased the openness of audience for dubbed movies.
It'll not touch business of BB2.

People will accept the movie if it's good. But the problem with Rajinikanth's movies is that filmmakers feel a need to hero worship him and live up to his superstar status and give him all sorts of punch dialogues and action sequences which are plain funny and over-rated. Thus, his larger than life persona gets prioritised over the script, characters etc. Thus, I find that when people watch his movies, they think of him as Rajinikanth the superstar and do not perceive him as the character. I think this great flaw would cause Robot 2 to not be accepted as widely as Baahubali 2, at least in the North where he is not as popular.

For 2.0 to even come close to Baahubali, it needs to be the better movie and get a better WOM. Though after the super success of Baahubali, people have really high expectations from 2.0 and they will expect it to beat each and every record of Baahubali. But it's simply not possible.

Baahubali was like Sholay to Indian audience. It had iconic characters, a done-to-death but a relatable story appealing to all sections of audience. It connected with the audience while providing them wholesome entertainment.

2.0 will be like Avatar. It'll be all about Vfx and special effects which Indian audience has never seen before. 2.0 budget is much higher than Baahubali, so the visual effects will be much better, but the storyline will be average and predictable. I'm sure it'll be an awesome movie. It's a Shankar film after all, but It's not going to connect with the audience like Baahubali did neither it's characters are going to be iconic.

No. The director makes standard masala films with no emotional appeal.
