Even that Kawach didn't have so much negativity around when it announced its lead couple...people were sceptic, but they weren't horrified like this.
I have a suggestion. Ekta should pull out adaa from naagin and make her Chandrakanta.
Trps will soar high.
Anyways she's wasting her talent playing HKP sesha.

Finally someone said the truth.
Madhurima would totally make a good army officer .
She played a cop in a show called dafa 420 and she was good over there.
And I heard EK had approached all prominent actresses of tellywood to play the role like Digangana, hina, etc.
But alas, they all refused the role.
So you can say, ekta was forced to choose Madhurima though even she knows that the choice was wrong.
Because all the top options had rejected the role for one or the other reasons.
And she didn't have time to go into india wide auditions like she went to find jodha.
So She had to compromise.
But there are a whole lot of actresses in the tellywood who can play the role .
Even if they're not well known, EK could've tried them.
She's just a 🤬
Nia sharma was also rumored to play the role but she's again a plastic surgery mannequin.🤢
At least madhurima isn't a plastic surgery victim.

Kritika's costume is a big turn off.
So probably Ekta will win over there.
But vfx-colors lose big time.
If madhurima was the negative lead, then her looks wouldn't have mattered much because people expect acting from them.
Plus she already has much experience playing negative leads .
But as positive character , I must say, looks are important , especially if you're a princess and that too Chandrakanta.
I can say that after the release of this show, a section of people might go to life ok show instead.😉

Yes looks are important! but saying that all positive characters must be good looking is like stereo typing and creating a halo image that all good looking ppl are positive which is not true at all!
if you say looks are very important for the positive main lead then what do you have to say about Mona Singh's Jassi Jaisi koi nahi or its american version Ugly betty? Even though Mona is pretty in real life she was made to look ugly but her show still worked right? Also whether Madhurima fits the Princess image or not depends on how the cvs have written her role and how she creates and establishes her character through her acting! if an actor has superior acting skills and works hard then their looks hardly matter and can no longer limit them!
And Madhurima in my opinion is quite pretty enough and attractive so i dont really have any issues regarding her playing chandrakanta for the same reason.

Hello Luna. Thank u soo much for inviting me. I am touched. I like the promo. It looks good. But I will not watch it, as knowing Ekta, she will problably ruin the show pretty soon. She ruined good shows like Pardes and KKB. Now Ahana's ghost is haunting Naina in PMHMD. HAHAHHA

I like madhurima better than nia sharma as Chandrakanta.
Your comment makes a very good point.
Kudos to you , Rein !
But looks do matter , especially if you're doing a historical .
Now, if she had been the negative lead, I wouldn't have been worried about her because EK usually characterizes villains better.
But her female characters, in recent times , has been very boring that they put me to sleep whenever they come to the screen.
Even in recent times, EK female leads like Archana has been slightly interesting but since she came up with Bade acche lagte hai, she's making boring heroines.
And from the promo narration,it looks like CK will be another boring EK female lead.
Now, as I said , if it would've been a realistic royal love story like Ek tha Ek Thi Rani, set in the real world, nobody would've had a problem with Madhurima's casting.
Since she's Chandrakanta, a section of the trp audience who were waiting for this show coz they didn't like Kritika are now saying that Kritika is better.
Now , we the urban IndiaForum users , might be open-minded and understanding.
But the cruel trp audience won't give the show and it's cast members much time, especially since it's a weekend finite show.
People will just not see it or drop off it after first few weeks if they don't like the casting of the show.
Plus weekend fiction shows except Naagin aren't doing well.
Cid is a huge hit, but they have a different story each episode so they've better chance to improve their content and hence trps.
Plus , EK treats her finite weekend shows as daily soaps, as evident from Kawach and Naagin 2.
Brahmarakshas had a better starting, but started to drag after episode 10,which made me wonder why this show was conceptualized on the first place.
Looks like everything is wrong with this show this time.
Weekend slot, a similar show running on rival channel, bad casting, yucky vfx and all.
Now, I've generally seen that people give daily soaps a much bigger time than the weekend shows.
Trp audience generally judges a show for mostly a 4 week period.
Now, in this time, daily soaps have aired 20 episodes(or even 24or 28 ) and have enough character progression.
Plus since the number of episodes are bigger, actors get enough time to prove their acting skills.
But for weekend shows , they manage to broadcast only 8 episodes by that time.
So actors have a very less time to prove their worth and have to hook audience from the promos itself or at most , the 2nd episode.
I've seen people not giving even a month's time to weekend shows like Koi Laut Ke aaya hai.
Actually the show has now got on an interesting twist but since they rushed through their story in the beginning and couldn't establish their story and characters properly in the beginning.
Now, this is a problem that I've noticed in finite shows.
Even Naagin S1 failed at that in the 1st place, but somehow managed to salvage their story by a strong sense of mystery and good cliffhangers.
Kawach and Brahmarakshas, however couldn't pull through.
Though these shows started with high trps, they couldn't ultimately survive.
It's a good idea that indian tv industry is now opening to the limited episode shows, but it also seems they are unable to fit in required content in the contracted no of episodes.
All of the above mentioned shows(both seasons of Naagin included) failed to establish their characters properly and rushed through it and then wasted their time in nonsense drama and were forced to make filler episodes which could've been utilized better to give every character a backstory.
Coming to mona singh, she's pretty no doubt, but she doesn't fit the conventional idea of indian beauty.
My grandmom thinks that she's ugly.
Plus never watched jassi, but looks like it had better creative team than Ekta has.
If it would have been Swastik or even Sphere Origins, I would not have doubts on Madhurima pulling off a great job but Balaji is just too creative in a unpredictable way (read bad).
Plus mona singh and kvb are good actors, basically some of the best in indian tv.
But they failed as newly wed Paridhi and dumb rocky.
Oh, I forgot!
Sakshi Tanwar is a very good actress , she was good as Daya Kaur in Dangal.
But she did absolutely a bad job as Shibani Mullick in 24 S2.
She never deserved the role in the 1st place and looks like she had been casted because they wanted to make gimmick by casting a spineless tv bahu as a top cop.
I had my doubts, but I gave the show a try.
And sakshi didn't disappoint.
She was absolutely horrible.
And going by Ekta's recent track records ,Madhurima's fate will be same except if there's some divine intervention.

Now, there's a show called Suhani Si Ek Ladki, the story of a ugly girl.
Now I find the lead girl quite pretty.
But in the show, she's portrayed as a ugly duckling who aims to do something in her life.
Now, whatever we think of beauty is completely personal.
But both mona and rajshri rani(suhani) had been chosen for their unconventional pretty looks.
They could look like a ugly girl with a heart of gold.
Btw, the show lost trps when jassi turned beautiful.
But still, she was somewhat believable as the show was set in real world.
But madhurima has an uphill task.
She's playing the role of beautiful princess, the role which is being concurrently played by another far more popular actress.
Urban audience might appreciate her but small town trp aunties are likely to change channel if the story isn't strong .
