Maya's advise to Samay "don't make the villain of the story someone else"... because she reiterated to him that whatever he did was done by him alone not under the influence of others especially hers. He did the crime by himself so he has to bear the punishment by himself.
Ironically, Maya is in the same boat as Samay... everything she did up till now is her own doing... so if she tells Samay to own up to his crime well Maya must do the same... because she is the villain of her story. And also if Maya thinks her reasons are legitimate then Samay must also thinks so.
In the end... both of them did everything they did for love... Samay for his unrequited love and Maya for her beyhadh love. No one should be absolved from their wrong doings.
