I understand the sentiment because ALL lives are equal and should be given the same attention when innocently lost whether they are white, brown, yellow, black or pink. It saddens me that that's not the way the world media works. I remember that time when Facebook was telling us to change it to France's colours (in solidarity).. and I thought what? So what about the rest of the world, are they meant to be inferior or sub-human? Why don't they get a Facebook 'colour'?
I don't know about anyone else but I as a rule have an all equal policy. If I don't tweet about one, not gonna tweet about another, but feel equal sympathy for all.
Obviously London or Manchester attacks I will talk about because it's my home/close to home. (Though I wouldn't change fb colours or whatever). I love Manchester, it's my second favourite city after London. I have family there, my favourite football team is there and I've spent a lot of time there. Only a monster would attack children, I can never understand how someone does something like that whether it's murdering children, women, worshippers when they're praying in mosques, churches, temples, etc. It's not humane.
But Mancunians warm my heart, straight away people were at the site, rallying around, #roomformanchester trending so that people had somewhere to stay since train station etc were shut down, cabbies rallied around to take people where they needed to go, I know of local mosques that were helping as I'm sure churches/temples were too. Mancunians showed that no terrorist or right-wing hater could divide us, no matter what happens!
Here's to praying for peace - for the affected families, and to those in need around the world.
