PART 78



The same night. Roli lies on the edge of the bed away from Sid's embrace. No...Not because she's worried of something but it's different. A feeling of restlessness is consuming her. Her eyes close only to the sight of him holding her from falling. She doesn't a have a clue of why this is happening. Yes...they are pretty much close to each other even now; apart from any sort of romantic and intimate moments. He hugs her, makes her sleep on his chest, kisses her on the forehead and so on. But to be honest, they aren't like they used to be before their separation; sharing lovely and romantic moments every now and then. Now what works between them is the heartwarming side of their relationship, of being each other's support. Somewhere down the road, she's really missing their nok jhok. And to her, Roli-Siddhant's relation is Siddhant's nok jhok and Roli's chik chik pik pik which is really absent in their lives now. But today, it feels like that something is changing in this new equation of care and a safe distance between them. After many months, she felt something different in his look and touch which otherwise always reflects care. Yes...his touch today on her waist and his look to her eyes is the sort which is capable of running a shiver down her spine. And may be because of that, they could never face each other after that incident. And even this night, she felt a hesitation to crawl to his embrace like she always does. Something is definitely changing; and it's definitely for good. Thinking all these, she closes her eyes hoping to find answer for her questions soon.



Next morning. Siddhant opens the door to the room and the sight that welcomes him makes him root to the floor. It's Roli applying moisturizer on her hands and legs wearing a towel. Seems that she is just back from shower. Sid's heart beat profusely seeing her so and so does Roli's as she spots him. A deep scarlet spreads on her cheeks and she feels a sudden desire to run away and hide from eyes which are hitting her at the right points. She quickly takes a spare towel kept on the table and covers herself trying to act as if she isn't affected. Sid tries his best to look normal though his naughty heart fails to listen it. Roli just looks down as she doesn't know what to do. It's not new for them; they had shared even intimate moment in the past. But now after a long period, it feels different. "woh... I think I failed to properly bolt the door..." says Roli as an explanation. "ya...I..I came in to take my...my..." Sid doesn't get words as he ponders for an excuse. The first thing that falls in his sight is a mosquito repellent cream which he grabs quickly. "Mosquito repellent cream!!!! There are mosquitoes as large as gooseberries over there in the garden...So..." he doesn't think of how stupid his excuse must have sounded. "I'll...I'll come in a while..."says him and he literally runs out of the room. Roli in a hurry reaches the door and locks it. Both leans on the either sides of the door and gasps. Siddhant shakes his head unable to control his racing heart whilst Roli blushes crazily. "no Siddhant...don't think like this...Roli isn't ready for a new step...have patience..." he scolds himself and goes off to see Shiroo. Meanwhile Roli gets up and reaches the mirror. She smiles involuntarily as she remembers the event. Moreover, that embarrassment on Sid's face, his hesitation, all made her smile in shy. Shoving off the thoughts, she moves to wardrobe to change for office.

Sid was already seated in the driving seat of the car when Roli enters through her side. Both are embarrassed after the morning event, but speak nothing of it. "Shall we go?" asks Sid without making an eye contact with Roli. "Hmmm..." Roli coos barely audible. Sid starts the car secretly taking a look of Roli who sits looking down. Throughout the journey it is much like a hide and seek game. Sid keeps stealing glances at Roli who does the same. They are yet to find about what these changes are but definitely their feelings are brewing unknown to them.


Much later in the office. RoSid are in a meeting. Diya is explaining about a very important marketing technique but RoSid are lost in their own dream world obviously about each other. Aarav who has come in for the discussion finds the duo in to their own affairs. "Well..meeting is very big for us, but seems that our hero and heroine are not even in the planet...Siddhant..." he says as he slaps him on the shoulder. Sid comes in to real world with a loud "abbey..." which wakes up Roli as well. She looks at Aarav and Siddhant confused, having no clue of what might have happened. "Why did you beat me up???" asks Sid to Aarav as he rubs his shoulder. "Because you were imitating a typical film hero...Where is your mind roaming when we're discussing such an important thing?" asks Aarav. "i...me...woh..." babbles Sid as he searches for an excuse. Roli struggles to hide her laughter watching the scene but the next bullet from Aarav is definitely for her. "Don't laugh brat... you were also running Roli in wonderland here?? What's happening? What are you both thinking so much? How to make swach bharat mission more effective or how to solve international issues?" he questions. Roli looks straight in to Siddhant's eyes as she gets no answer. "Just don't look me like this Roli...I'll die right now..." says Sid in his mind. "Well whatever it is, let's come back in to the real world for the time being..All those things can wait, but not this..." says Aarav as he signs Diya to continue with her presentation. Sid and Roli looks at each other embarrassed while Aarav watches with a naughty smile knowing what they have been thinking.


Late night. Roli and Sid get in to the car to return home after a very long day. Roli is too sleepy that she can't even keep her eyes open, so she instantly leans to Sid's shoulders as soon as she gets in to the car. Sid smiles as he notices her closing her eyes on his shoulder clutching his shirt. He takes her to his embrace holding her with his one hand and driving with the other. He realizes, he has started being that old Siddhant again. The one who always teases, flirts and plays with Roli. And probably she'll also come out of the darkness of the problems to the bright sunlight of their love.

Reaching home, Sid tries to wake Roli up but stops as he finds her fast sleep. His heart comes to a standstill watching how innocent she looks. He remembers the time when he met her for the first time.


2 years back. Inter college arts festival 2015-16. Sid drives in to the St. Patrick's college Mumbai where the competition was going on. Nithi sits in the front seat beside him chatting with him and pulling his legs. Sid gives her angry looks and often answers tit for tat to her anarchy questions and finally reaches the college. Nithi gets down and closes the door on the her side as Sid watches over. "What? Are you not getting out?' asks her. "Me? No...Why should I even get out?"asks Sid as he prepares to leave. But Nithi keeps hand on the door stopping him from going. "Just come out Bhai..How boring you are...there are plenty of girls over here for the festival...Just take a look at them and fix a Bhabhi for me..i know, seeing you, at least a dozen girls will get a heart attack..." comments Nithi. Sid smiles at her and pulls her nose. "you see the girls..But there is something that you don't see...That these girls may have brothers...I'm not interested to get hospitalized by getting slaps from any random guy for wooing his sister...So for the time being I'm not getting out.." confirms Sid. "So that's it...you're a darpokk..." comments Nithi as she hides her laughter. Sid rolls his eyes at his sister's judgment. He quickly gets out of the car making Nithi happy for achieving what she wanted. "Listen...I'm not a darpokk..And I can very well prove that...I'm coming with you okay..."says Sid. "Oh really...Then let's see..." says Nithi. "Wait a second...I'll come parking the car..."says Sid and gets in to the car.


Much later. Sid walks with Nithi through the college portico carelessly staring at the arrangements. That when Bhavna, Nithi's best friend reaches them. She wishes Sid and hugs Nithi. "Nithi...see..I'll show you something...come..." says Bhavna as she pulls Nithi. Nithi looks at Sid who signs her to go. "Bye Bhai..." says the girls. "Bye..Nithi..I'll just go now...got some work...will come to pick you up in the evening ..." says him. Nithi nods and walks away with Bhavna whilst Sid carelessly steps out. He keeps kicking an empty Pepsi bottle as he walks. He stops as he watches a commotion. Lots of students have assembled there to watch or rather enjoy the scene. He walks closer and finds a girl boiling in anger. "What do you think haan??? That boys like you will roam behind girls with such cameras and no one will notice??? And you...you girl, I don't; say loving and roaming around is wrong...But make sure that you very well know how to protect yourself... otherwise, such idiots will walk in to your privacy with such hidden cameras... no use of crying after things get messed up..." she says to a girl and boy who stands silent. He gets it now; she got angry seeing that boy trying to do some non sense. How brave, girls should be like this, he thinks. He admires her as she continues to talk. Her fair skin, big eyes, well trimmed monobrow, cute nose, pinkish lips and her perfect stature. Her long hair reaches below her hips just the way he likes it. He gets lost on her doubtlessly. But his thoughts get jammed as he finds her throwing the phone to a stone breaking it to pieces. "Now I just broke your face...next time if I find you doing this...I'll break your face...Heard..." says her and taking heavy steps walks away. That day, that moment he decides, if he will live with a girl in this life that will be her.


Sid stares at the girl for whom, he had fallen at the very first sight -Roli. Just like he thought, she came to his life. Though things had gone wrong somewhere, they are together yet, which is a big thing. He gazes at his watch and finding time is too late, opens the car door and gets down. He then opens the door at Roli's side and picking up her in his arms walks to the room. As soon as he opens the door, Shiroo comes to them running and barking. "Shhh..." he gestures and Shiroo gets silent. "She's sleeping champ..Let's not disturb her..." says him as she walks in to their room followed by Shiroo. He places her on the bed and covers her with the blanket. "Siddhant..." he hears her murmuring in sleep. He gets a smile seeing her and kisses on her forehead. Shiroo barks as he sees this. Sid looks at Shiroo and says "She's MINE okay..." he says a bit loud. Noticing Roli turning in sleep, sid bites his tongue and says slowly "She's mine okay..." Shiroo as if understood lies down on the floor meanwhile Sid with a smile, takes his towel and walks to the washroom.
