Chapter-5

Maan returned back after his meeting with Dr. Sharma... He looked tired and was in the same clothes which he was wearing last day

Geet-Sir I think you should call ma'am to come here.. you need a change of clothes..you are like this since last night

Maan-No need.. I will manage

But sir.

His phone rang and he picked it up-Yess Sam

Maan.. I m really sorry ..Samwas on the other side...I want to come..but I m having saviour headache now.. I m angry on myself that I m having headache at this time..I so much wanted to be with dadi but I m not able to bear this headache. I hope you are not angry on me..I promise I will be there early morning..

Maan smirked-No need to say sorry Sam..I will manage here..You take rest. My dadi is my responsibility.. Don't bother yourself for her..

He cut the phone and Maan shook his head...It was just first day of his marriage with that so called cultured girl Samand she had already started to throw her tantrums.. He looked at dadi who was sleeping under the effects of the medicines after having her wish fulfilled..

Geet by the talks of one side understood that His wife was not going to come here..She just kept mum and continued with her duty..

Night passed without any problem..Dr.Sharma visited there and checked her

Doctor khurana..Good news..She is out of danger now..

I know..Thanks Dr. Sharma for taking care of her...Maan thanked him

Come on Dr. You don't need to say this. After all we all are friends ..Your dadi is my dadi... You can take her home after 24 hrs..

Dr. Sharma left and it was time for Geet to leave as her duty was over..

Geet-Doctor.. I m leaving too..Though I m at rest now after this emergency duty..but if you need me you can ask the head nurse to call me on duty

No..Geet..I thing dadi is fine now..and Thanks for being here to take care of her

This was my duty sir..And you take care of yourself too sir.. you need to stay fit if you have to take care of her..Geet looked at him concerned

And Maan nodded and unknowingly he compared her with sam..Who was searching all the excuses to not to come to Hospital. And here was Geet who was concerned for him and his dadi also.

He smiled on his own thinking.. People say that age make a human mature and understanding but his dadi had rejected a diamond even without having a look on it and picked up a piece of coal which was no use of even for her..

A wave of pain passed thru his heart dividing it in to millions of pieces... And he could not do anything other than collecting those shattered pieces .He discovered one more quality of Geet today..She was woman with a strong heart..He being a man was feeling pain for his broken heart but she was not showing any sign of it but he knew that she was as much sad as he was..

Geet left and after half n hour Sam reached. Dadi was still sleeping under the effects of the medicines .. after some time she woke up and was happy to see Sam there..She called her near her..Sam sat near her

dadi I m so happy to see you fine..I was so worried for you..I prayed for you and my prayers were heard..Sam showed her concern for her

Now you are my DIL then nothing can hurt me..I m free from the burden of facing my son in the heaven..I will be happily meet him now..

Daaddiii...what are you saying? Maan shouted a little at her He came near her and sat at the other side of the bed..

Dadi asked him to come down and he bent his face to come at her level..She kissed his forehead..Now I m tension free ..You have your life partner with you who is going to take care of you..Now you are not alone..

In return he kissed her forehead..and held hands

But it's you whom I need the most..so please take care of yourself..

And dadi smiled at this-I will..

dadi... it's too painful to see you surrounded with so many machines..is it hurting you?..I wish i could do something for you..I m really feeling very bad for you..Sam tried to be nice to Dadi

Maan looked at her..How insensitive is this girl..instead of being positive she is talking all negative in front of her... She will make her more sick..i m really surprised how dadi could not see her this side?

See Maan how much she is worried for me.. dadi said to him.. She is not able to see me like this.. I m really happy that my decision was so much right.. She will take care of us well..

Maan was now irritated with the praises of this double faced girl..

Thank u dadi.. you are so sweet.. I want you to come back home as soon as possible... these machines are making me sick..

Sam... If you are feeling this much bad then why you are here..I think you should stay at home.. you can show your care and concern when she is back to home... ..these machines are saving her life these are not any hurdle for her health..so please keep your mouth shut..

Sam was little shocked seeing him angry..

Maaan.. Don't be so rude to her..She cares for me..Sam beta you can go home,..and can come back later..dadi consoled her

Geet reached her home. She was tired completely not only physically but emotionally too... In only one day she had seen so many colours of life..In only one day her heart bloomed like a flower due to that virgin feeling of love and next moment that flower was being plucked harshly and destroyed ruthlessly by the hands of the destiny..

Geet's mother saw her and found pale and lost

Geet what had happened beta.. you look sad..Kuchh hua hai kya..

Geet looked at her mother and hugged her tightly...

Rano patted her back..what happened Geet? Did any patient lost his life today? Last night you were so happy that you was not able to stop smiling..aaj kya hua?

Geet heard her mother and caged her tightly in her arms... Kuchh nahin maa.. bas aise hi..

Rano parted her away and looked in her eyes..Geet smiled seeing her at her as she knew that her mother could read her eyes well.. so she distracted her..Kuchh nahin hua maa.. sometimes i feel sad when see some patients in hospital.. sometimes we are so helpless that we can't do anything in front of the fate..

Rano smiled and said to console her..beta this is your profession..If you will take everything on yur heart then how will you manage yourself there? You will have to face critical mpatients everynow and then.. sabko dekh ke khud dukhi ho jaayegi to duty kaise karegi ?

You are right maa.. aage se dhyaan rakhungi... Maa can i sleep for some time..? I m not feeling to eat anything right now..

As you wish.. go and take some rest..You will feel good..

And Geet reached her room.. It was the place where she was she,,Not any nurse who was on duty to take care of her patients... her eyes feel on the tajmahal which Maan gifted her..

She picked it up in her hands and looked at it.. Her eyes were filled with tears now but she did not try to wipe them ... Right now her heart was feeling pain and she wanted it to be healed with her tears...

In the evening

Geet entered the room as her duty was again there..She found Maan sitting there ..

Geet-Good evening Doctor..

Maan-Good evening Geet.. It's your duty again..?

Geet smiled-yess sir..and then she looked at dadi-Good evening ma'am..

Dadi looked at her and replied-Good evening sister..

How are you feeling now? You definitely looking batter today..Geet smiled seeing her awake

Off course sister.. I have to be fine..Your Dr khurana is married to my favourite girl now...dadi said with a smile

For a moment eyes of Maan and Geet met at the mention of marriage..

Definitely Ma'am you have to be fine soon.. and I m very sure that Dr. Khurana will never let happen anything to you..He loves you a lot

Yes I know he loves me a lot..After all we are the only family for each other..Dadi looked at Maan..Though she knew that Maan was not happy with her decision but she was sure that everything will be fine soon between Maan and Sam

Geet looked in to the chart of her schedule of medicines..

Maan was listening to them without any interference

You know sister..My grandson is married now ..What I could have ask for more. My DIL was so worried for me and I think she was here all the time with me..She was looking tired

Geet looked at Maan at this and he smiled

That's good Mam. It seems you have spent the whole day with your grand daughter in law..

No..no she was here in the morning..but feeling very bad seeing me in such condition.. She could not see me attached with so many wires so I sent her back..Were you here Yesterday too on duty? I was not in my senses so did not see you..

Then you had seen his wife here.. I saw her in the morning when I woke up..She was so worried for me..she was feelimg bad for me seeing me stuck with so many machines and wires

Geet was little surprised at this. She looked at Maan. Who was having a sarcastic smile on his face..

She is right Geet.. Her granddaughter in law is more delicate then anything..She was so much worried seeing her surrounded with so many equipements that she felt weak. It seemed that she was more sick than dadi seeing her like this...So dadi sent her back to home to take rest..

Geet was looking at him and was trying to understand the meanings of his words..As she knew that Samcwas not at all present here last day

Maan this is not the way to talk about your wife that too to a unknown person ..dadi scolded him and he shook his head.. Geet felt little bad as Dadi called her an unknown person but she was not at fault...She was a nurse and was an unknown person to her..

Sister..aapka naam Geet hai? Dadi asked

And Geet nodded..

Bahut pyara naam hai..she said and Geet one more time smile-I know ma'am..

Maan waited for her next statement which she usually used to add with her name about her name but she did not say that.

Have you taken your evening milk and biscuits Ma'am? It's time for your medicines..If not then you have to eat something before having the medicines

And she nodded... I had my milk sister..

Geet helped her to have her medicines and then asked her to take rest...Dadi was little better so Maan thought to take a round to see his patients..

He went to the children ward..kids were happy to see him but they asked about Geet and Maan told them that she was on the duty in his dadi's room as she was very sick..

And kids understood. But they were little sad

But Your dadi is sick na..one of them showed his concerned..

Maan-umm.. what about 10 minute visit to you..?

10 minutes ?? a small kid made a face-10 minute me kya hoga? And Maan smiled to see his expressions

But another girl said-Ok dr uncle chalega.. Only one story from her..

Ok..with a smile he left saying-I will send her..

After his round he came back to the room and found dadi sleeping

Geet kids want to meet you

But sir how I can? I m on duty here..

Dadi is sleeping so you can go to meet them..I will see her. and don't worry i will handle if someone asks about you

Ok sir ..and she left..she reached in the children ward and Kids were so excited to see her.. The small boy lifter his arms towards her..She lifted him and made him sit in her lap..

Sister..we all missed you

Geet kissed his cheek..I too missed you a lot..

Sister.. tell one story na...

Hmm so you wanted to hear the story. that means you all missed my stories not me..and she made a sad face..

And that small boy cupped her face..No sister .. I missed you..bahuttt saaarraaa miss kiya maine aapko par apki story ko bhi miss kiya..and Geet laughed seeing his smartness..

Ok now come here ..i will tell a story..

When she was with kids she used to forget all her pains and sorrow..as the kids were so cute and their talks were more cute then those kids ..She had to forget everything in their company

..and after half n hour she returned and found him looking in to the reports of dadi for that day..

Anything serious sir?

No.. but she is very weak and had to be on bed for few more days..Can't take stress..

Oh.. Everything will be fine sir..and now I think she is happy as she is having her grand DIL with her..it will help her to recover fast..

Maan did not react at it..

Dadi who was listening to her said-You said right sister.. I wanted her to be the dil of my house so I m really very happy

Geet smiled to hear her

There was service boy with the Dinner for the patient.

Geet adjusted the bed and made her to sit with the support of the pillows.

Maan helped her little for making dadi comfortable on the bed while doing that their hands touched ..Their eyes met for a moment and next moment Geet pulled her hand without looking at him.

Maan looked at her but did not feel bad for her this act as she was right at her place..they had lost that right on each other... She set the dinner table on the bed in front of dadi

Dadi saw the food and said-Khichdi???.. Maan I don't want to eat it.. this is so blend and tasteless..

Maan got angry hearing her...ye aapko beemaar padne se pahle sochna tha..Now you had a stroke so you have to eat this. Nothing else aur haan wo apna oily food bhool jaaiye ab hamesha ke liye.. warna main uss cook ko hi bahar nikaal doonga

Geet smiled seeing him getting angry on dadi. As she remembered the incident of lunch between them but saw dadi making a bad face

Sir please control yourself..This is not the way to talk to patient.. and you know it well..Please sir.She tried to make Maan calm..

Dadi looked at him with a weird face..See Maan..This girl is better than you.. she doesn't know me still she is behaving too good with me.. I m your dadi still you are angry on me..

I know you are my dadi but you are a patient as well.. so you have to eat the food only provided for you

But Maan this is so yuckk

Before Maan could say anything Geet interrupted- Ma'am i know this is tasteless but it's healthy for you... Don't you want to go home soon?.. If you want to stay here for more days then I will bring you the regular food.. but to go from here soon you have to eat this..Now choice is your's only.. You want to go home soon or want to stay here for long..

Dadi looked at Maan first and then at Geet... just learn from her Maan how sweet she is... how nicely she made me understand and there is you-my grandson and a dr. too .. Do you talk so rudely with your patients? ..I don't know why everyone think of you a very good doctor..

Geet giggled at it

Maan who was actually irritated for some reasons wanted to say but that giggle of Geet forced him to cool his anger on his dadi..

Geet again said-Ma'am...please have it.. otherwise it will be cold and taste will be more bland and bad..

Dadi nodded and Geet helped her to eat as she was not able to eat herself.. Her hands were trembling due to the weakness..

Maan was silently observing both of them..he started to look in to the papers again as dadi was not making any fuss while having that food..

Sam entered the room.. Dadi saw her empty hands..Sam.. You did not bring dinner for Maan?

Sam like some idiot looked at her-dinner?

Sam i know that you got married yesterday only and you burdened with the responsibility of home..but beta.. right now we don't have any option..It's only you now to take care of the house and Maan..

It's ok ..Dadi ..food to milta hai na yahaan..I thought that me and Maan would have our dinner together... and moreover we can get fresh and hot food.. ghar se lane me to thoda thanda ho jaata na..

Sam ..Maan doesn't like to eat out much..

I m really sorry dadi. I did not know it..Sorry Maan.. please adjust for now. I will remember it in future

No need.. just order food for yourself..I m not hungry.. I have already eaten the food here .it was very heavy so i m not in mood to have anything now...I need to meet dr. Sharma with dadi's reports..you carry on with your food

dadi asked for water and Geet helped her to drink..Suddenly she started to cough and the food mixed with water in her mouth came out of her mouth and it fell on Geet.. Her uniform got spoiled .. Sam saw all this and felt like to vomit seeing that food on Geet. She was looking in complete mess It was looking so dirty...She rushed to the washroom to puck..

Dadi was so scared seeing that mess..

Maan came near her and patted her back... Dadi please be relax.. He helped her to drink a little water.. and dadi was fine now..She looked at Geet and felt bad..

Sorry sister..I spoiled your uniform. I don't know how this happened..i did not do it knowingly

It's ok Ma'am..Please don't feel bad.I have one more pair of my uniform. I will change it..You please be calm.. please don't get tensed..it's ok.. you did not do it knowingly..I know. Geet was standing normal as if nothing had happened..

Dadi smiled a little seeing her calm..

Sam came out of washroom..

Ma'am would you please feed her .I need a change.. Geet requested to Sam and she was horrified listening to her..

Sister..I..I don't have another pair of clothes what if she does it again..I mean..

Geet stood silent..She could not feed dadi now in this condition..

It's ok Geet..you go and change..I will feed dadi..and he looked at Sam giving a clear indication to her that he did not like this act of her..

Geet returned after changing her uniform. Maan had finished feeding to dadi..He did not talk a single word to Sam due to his anger for her reaction for dadi's vomiting and and then denying to feed her ... He saw Geet and left to meet Dr.Sharma.

Maan are you sure you won't have food.. Sam called from his back..

I told you earlier..He replied in very straight words.. He was still angry but was keeping his nerves in his control so that dadi could not feel bad in this condition as she was not able to take any tension right now..

Maan has left without having dinner..dadi was little worried for him.. and for the first time she felt bad for him after his marriage

Geet was silently watching that..It was their family matter and she was the nurse on duty..

Sam asked Geet as if she was allowed to order the food in the room itself or not?..

and Geet nodded-Off course ma'am..you can

Sister Don't you have dinner while you are at duty? Dadi asked

Geet smiled-off course we have mam..but I m waiting for the other nurse to join you so that I can go to have my dinner

Ok... dadi reacted and as Geet said other nurse joined them to give Geet dinner break..

Geet reached to staff room..Opened her Tiffin box but did not know why she was not feeling hungry.. she tried to eat but could not put the morsel in to her mouth. She remembered the talks between dadi, Maan and Sam. She also remembered how he hated oily food specially when it is not cooked at home..

She packed her Tiffin box back and kept in the bag and thought-...maa ko bataane ke liye koi achha sa bahaana bhi set karna padega dinner na karne ke liye.. and she imagined the angry face of her mother who was scolding at her to bring the Tiffin back and stay hungry at duty.. and it made her smile when she imagined her mother's angry face

It was late night ..Sam had left for home and Maan was again there to stay with dadi.. Geet wes feeling bad seeing him 24 hrs up and juggling between his duty and dadi's care..But she could not do anything in that matter..dadi had slept after taking her medicines..
