Shivvay - 'That is who I am, I need to know ...'

I knew this would happen if the truth came out the way it did today. This is exactly the reason why I was supporting Shivvay's decision to find out about Annika's past - Annika's reaction in the precap confirmed that .

I always feared that if Shivvay backed off from finding about Annika she would find out in the worse possible way about who she is and where she comes from. And she did. She became the 'Breaking News' that the media is going to have a field day with and there ain't a thing her husband can now do to reverse that. All he can do is damage control in the press and public and damage control in his marriage and personal life. This is why I said 'Forewarned is Forearmed' and Shivvay did not have the facts to be forearmed to stop this hurt from getting to his wife.

He did not have time to hide her for a short time behind his 'Great Wall' so that the blow would be lighter. He did not have the time to strategize and control how she would be told. He did not have anything to help her. He has a full blown war on his hands and he has not even had time to ready his army, gather his weapons and pull up the draw bridge before the hounds attack. How then is he supposed to protect his Queen??!!

It was often said 'Shivvay should not dig... he should not probe ... should not find out', but if Shivvay does not it does not mean no one else will. Shivvay knew that even if Annika did not. He was doing his due diligence as a husband/Spouse. He was gathering his information so that he could use it to protect and shield her and also be able to wage a war if needed to keep her from falling into the enemy hands.

Till she was a 'nobody', a middle class girl, living a simple middle class life no one cared about those things and yes, married to a middle class man those would have probably been left alone till the day she died. But she did NOT marry a middle class man did she??!! She married the heir to a business empire which is the same as marrying a Prince of a Kingdom.

Suddenly overnight from a mere 'nobody' she became a highly sought after 'somebody'. She became a mystery everyone wanted to solve.

She became 'the Headlines', the 'Front Page News', the Breaking Story' that everyone wanted to lay their hands on. She was going to be the sensational news of the Decade since she was also the wife of the BOTY that he dedicated his award to.

So who was this wonderful woman who the great and mighty Shivvay Singh Oberoi dedicated his award and his life to??!!! Where did she magically appear from??!! What Family does she belong to?? What did she do before she met him and where did he meet such a gem of a woman?? There was no indication of him even being engaged to her and here he is now announcing her proudly as his strength'!

What makes her tick? What does she eat, wear, listen to, watch on TV? etc etc etc

I have and will always support Shivvay's need and decision to find out about Annika's past not because he is curious by nature, which he admitted he is, but because he is The 'Shivvay Singh Oberoi'.

He is not only a business baron in his world but also comes from one of the most wealthy and well known business houses. What does that have to do with Annika's background??

Everything!!! Everything because she is now his wife and an Oberoi Bahu. She will be hounded, followed and harassed just like all the wives of the rich and famous are. The paparazzi will be waiting for one slip or one mistake to rip her to shreds and that is exactly what happened, no matter it was brought on by Pinky.

If it is not Pinky today it would be a business rival or an enemy who has found Shivvay's weak spot. His wife is his weakness - in the sense that he is over protective about her so they would obviously direct the jab at her.

She is new to this game and this kind of attention and even though she has fought life and survived as a middle class girl, she has not met and faced this kind of attack at the level that would be needed by an Oberoi wife and moreover the wife of Shivvay Singh Oberoi - the Heir to the Oberoi's.

That is what Shivvay was trying to protect her from and that is why I understood why he 'needed to know, have the facts and have the information'. If he had he would have dealt with it discreetly and introduced her to her mother, no matter a dancer at a club, in a more private and intimate setting. He would have prepared her and made sure she understood why he did it.

Today his worse fears were founded. He was Shivvay Singh Oberoi and he had grown from a child into adulthood handling these hyenas and their thirst for blood. He was capable of being thick skinned and brushing off all their hurtful and malicious jabs. He was trained not to be affected or take what they said personally. In short he was cold, unfeeling and insensitive when it came to them digging into wounds and rubbing in the salt. He was a seasoned player at this game but his sensitive, naive and innocent wife was not!

Now that the damage has happened I am sure people will be ok with him digging into her past because he now needs to set things straight, but unfortunately Annika has to bear the brunt of the attacks till then and it was exactly this that the man was trying to avoid. Now the digging will be encouraged by Annika as well because she has seen the damage 'no information' can cause to her husband and his life.

He announced her as his strength but she, in her naivety, became his weakness today. She has to be the scaffolding that holds up the 'Great Wall' from the inside, his strength, not the scaffolding that helps people scale the 'Great Wall' from the outside, and thus becomes his weakness.

She cannot turn into the means by which they will tear this 'Great Wall' down because that Shivvay cannot fight against. He cannot fight his own wife.

Annika for her part has to realize that just as Shivvay has a responsibility towards her, so too has a responsibility towards him. She chose to stay married to him and hence she has to accept all that comes with the territory and the responsibility of being his wife.

She has to start thinking like 'Annika Shivvay Singh Oberoi' even if she is still 'Just Annika'. This is not about her identity anymore but about her commitment made to her choice in husband. She is an Oberoi Wife and an Oberoi Bahu and she needs to start thinking that way.

To assume that life has not changed would be selfish on her part. To assume that she would not have to make personal and life style changes would be naive on her part. To assume that her background and who she is will not matter anymore to the world would be sheer foolishness on her part.

She has left her husband open to attacks and to insults from the media and she as a wife has a duty to make sure she aids him in battling off those attacks.
