"In my biopic, if it is ever made, you will play
the stereotypical villain. One who is
intolerant of outsiders.. the flag-bearer of
nepotism in Bollywood and movie mafia," -
Kangana Ranaut spoke her heart out at
Karan Johar's much-talked-about show
Koffee With Karan. Little did she know that
her take on nepotism in the industry will
become one of the hottest topics of
discussion. The industry stood divided on
the topic - while some lauded Kangana,
some disagreed with her statement.
And soon at every press conference, actors
were being questioned about their opinion
- Does nepotism exist in the industry? Now,
Priyanka Chopra was under the scanner of
being asked about her take on nepotism as
she also is not from a filmy background and
has had her set of struggles in making a
path of a successful career.
In an interview with a leading tabloid
admitted that nepotism exists and she
herself has faced a lot of it. She said, "All
kinds exist. There is nothing wrong in being
born into a family that has a legacy.
Outsiders don't have a foot-in-the-door
access. Star kids have an insurmountable
pressure of living up to the family name.
Every star has their individual journey."
Priyanka added, "In mine, I have faced a lot. I
have been kicked out of films because
someone else was recommended to the
producer. I cried and got over it. Eventually,
those who are meant to be success stories
become that, despite all hindrances."
Does the leading lady of Bollywood dread
failure? Well, the answer is NO. She said, "I
don't fear failure but I don't like it. I get
grumpy when I fail, but I am not afraid to
face it with the same sentiments of a
debutante. I see the lives of celebrities as a
marathon runner. There is a lot riding on us
in terms of responsibility. If an actor falls
sick and the shoot is cancelled, 300 people
don't get paid that day. I treat it like a
marathon. I have learnt to respect
everyone's job. I treat myself as an athlete
and acquire that discipline. I work holidays,
birthdays, and anniversaries. I have trained
myself accordingly. There's a set goal, which
I want to achieve and to get that, I know
what it takes. There are no free lunches in
this world."
On the work front, she will next be seen in
Baywatch.

Is this really true? That's gross violation of employment/contract rights!!

But again they just pay all those people black money so where is the question of contract or signing amount. It's an unorganized sector after all.

I LOVE this! There are too many outsiders (Vidya, Anushka) who like to pretend that they are special snowflakes and did not face nepotism, and enough starkids who believe they are entitled to become actors because all parents help their kids and that doesn't mean there is nepotism (Sonakshi, Alia, Varun).
It's nice to see someone be honest.

Finally an answer that I like. Yes there is Nepotism but he/she who are meant to succeed will succeed. That's the truth of life, both insiders and outsiders should accept this and move on!

"Eventually,
those who are meant to be success stories
become that, despite all hindrances." - Now this is just not true. Luck is obviously important but getting the right opportunities like starkids get is also important for outsiders to succeed. Even back in PC's time, the industry was relatively open with model-turned-actresses coming in but it has been completely blocking out outsiders at this point. Starkids get twice the opportunities with half the talent and the worst part is, their failures never matter. Abhi loser still gets solo movies. Which outsider could or would have?
