Yes, I just told you.
"The police report would have said that she was fully clothed when they got there."
Well I have a thought regarding this. Because maya's dress that night had a deep back, almost backless. So in the haatapaai...obviously there may have been some injuries on the back. Which neither maya had to create nor anyone else. But all I wonder is how could those marks have Ayaan's DNA when we all have seen that he was always in front of maya while the whole maramari happened. Even if the marks on backs happened they could not have Ayaan's DNA. They may have occurred through other objects in the house.
And most importantly, a physical tussle can always create marks on someone. And women being more vulnerable actually can get hurt more easily. So, can some marks on her body and some DNA on them be enough to prove that the person was in for a rape? How are the intentions clear????
Until she's got some marks on her private parts. And in this case, if she at all has them, they are self inflicted. And they CANNOT have Ayaan's DNA because as you said, she was fully clothed. And even if she has marks on thighs, it's because her gown that night was split in the middle. And when she fell on the ground , injuries might have occurred.
So even if I believe maya hadn't inflicted the injuries she had shown to the court, question remains that similar injuries can occur in physical tussle too.? So why not be punished for that? Why attempt to rape?
