I love both too. And I will be mixing both of them. For certain parts, I remember Harrison version better but like Hepburn version. So it will be mix. Plus there will be Arnav's angry young man moments and Khushi's weird logic. All mixed together, I hope it would something better and unique than the movies!

CHAPTER 1. THE STAGE IS BEING SET

"So how was the party?", Khushi spoke as she stood on the threshold of Aakash's room, leaning onto it.

"Huh what?", Aakash, who was adjusting his shirt, gave her a glance and then went back to spraying some perfume on himself. Aakash didn't notice but Khushi was fuming in annoyance. She could not get the girl who danced with Aakash the night before out of her mind and while she knew very well that the girl would never be perfect for her Aakash and Aakash would definitely reject her, that didn't stop her from being jealous of their close dance. I should be the one dancing with Aakash, not some spoilt princess! Grrr!

"How was Party?", Khushi pouted and even stomped her foot. Aakash smiled at her charmingly, "It was great!" "And how about the girl that danced with you? Are you in love with her?", Khushi asked innocently. Aakash focused on his hair and Khushi waited with bated breath for his answer. Hey Devi Maiyya! They shouldn't love each other! Please! Please! No! Wait! She can fall for him! But he shouldn't fall for her! Hey Devi Maiyya! Please! Just then Aakash, who was done with his hair, sighed, "I spoke with her! And I realised that we are not perfect for each other...! It just won't work!" Khushi nearly squealed and would have jumped if it hadn't been for the fact that Aakash was right in front of her. She made a sad face, "I am sorry Aakashji!", she grinned eagerly as she said it. She vanished her smile the moment Aakash turned towards her, "Chalo Kiddo! I better get going! I have some friends to meet at the Club!" He ruffled her hair as he walked by her and went out of the room. Khushi pouted. Why does he always ruffle my hair? Khushi didn't realise but she was speaking out loud, "And why does he always call me kid? When will you see me as a grown up, Aakashjis? I am only 7 years younger to you. But now I am eighteen, na? I am an adult! Don't you think it is time you treat me like an adult? See how much I love you!"

Khushi sighed as she walked out of the room but stopped abruptly when she saw Naaniji standing in front of her. Khushi gulped. Naaniji seemed to be glaring at her. Khushi didn't know what went wrong. In her childhood Naaniji loved and adored her and always played with her. But once she grew up, Naaniji seemed to be always annoyed with her. Why is she like this now? Naaniji's glare intensified and Khushi looked down fiddling with her dupatta. Run Khushi run! Get out of here! She smiled a little at Naaniji and then quietly but swiftly walked away. Once she was away from Naaniji, she ran like dogs were chasing her. And hence, she didn't see where she was going and crashed right into someone.

"ARE YOU BLIND? LOOK WHAT YOU HAVE DONE!", a voice roared and Khushi froze. Her eyes went wide as she stared at the person in front of her. "Can't you see where you are going? You ruined my coat! Now I will have to go and change again!", Arnav Singh Raizada roared at her as he stood in front of her. She looked at his coat and the coffee cup he was holding in his hand. She realised that the coffee had fallen onto him when she crashed into him. She gulped as she looked at his glaring eyes. Khushi! Today is definitely your bad day! First Aakashji calls you Kiddo and then Naaniji is annoyed at you and now I crashed into Arnavji! Hey Devi Maiyya! Why are you determined to ruin my day?

"Answer me! Don't you have eyes or brain?", Arnav roared and Khushi eeped. Since her childhood, Khushi had been intimidated by Arnav because he rarely smiled and always seemed to glare at her. Suddenly, unable to handle the situation, Khushi turned and ran away. She heard Arnav calling her name in annoyance, but Khushi simply continued to run. She didn't stop till she reached her room in the outhouse and then she locked herself in and slid down to the floor. Hey Devi Maiyya! That was one scary moment!

While Khushi was running from Arnav, Naaniji was pacing in her room. All she could remember was Khushi's words that she mumbled to herself, "And why does he always call me kid? When will you see me as a grown up Aakashji? I am only 7 years younger to you. But now I am eighteen, na? I am an adult! Don't you think it is time you treat me like an adult? See how much I love you!" She narrowed her eyes. I can't allow this! I have to do something!

Naaniji turned around and ordered one of the servants to send Mr. Gupta to her room. Once he arrived, she ordered him to do one thing, "Send Khushi away!"

"Madam!", Khushi's father was shocked. Naaniji, who stood by the window looking outside, didn't even look at him, "She flutters around Aakash too much! I don't like it! Send her away!" He opened his mouth to say something but shut up. How can he argue with his boss? Naaniji had helped take care of Khushi after her mother died. She gave him shelter and made sure Khushi studied in best Convent school and then in the top colleges of Dilli. She did so much for him and Khushi! How can he argue with her?

"But where will I send her?", Khushi's father asked worriedly. Naaniji nodded, "Don't worry about that! I will make the arrangements. She will leave for Mumbai tomorrow! She will finish her remaining two years of Bachelors there! I have a friend there who will find Khushi a good hostel in Mumbai!" She didn't say anything further.

Mr. Gupta nodded his head and walked away. He was getting worried now. How will his daughter live in Mumbai alone? Mumbai is known as a very dangerous place. She won't have him to protect her. And there won't be any Arnav Singh Raizada to keep an eye on her. This was a secret kept between and Arnav and Khushi's father. Years back, Arnav had promised that he would keep an eye on Khushi while she studied in school and College. That's why when Khushi joined first year in her College no one ragged her or no boy proposed her. Everyone knew that doing such thing would invoke the wrath of MSK and no one wanted that. Khushi didn't know about this deal as she would have rebelled at such protection. But now who will protect Khushi from characterless men in Mumbai?

As Shashi Gupta walked to their quarters worriedly, another thought entered his mind and his eyes widened. Forget Mumbai and being alone! How am I supposed to break this news to Khushi? She would be devastated. And he was right! Khushi was broken hearted.

"How could you? How could you do this to me? What have I ever done to you?", Khushi bawled as she threw herself on her bed and sobbed her heart out. If Shashi hadn't been this worried about her, he would have rolled his eyes at how dramatic his daughter was being. But Shashi being Shashi simply tried to console his daughter.

"What was I supposed to do? When Madamji said...", Shashi tried to explain but he was cut off.

"I knew it!", Khushi got up from the bed and stormed over to where her father was standing, "Of course it was Naaniji!" "What do you mean?", her father frowned.

"She wants me away from Aakashji isn't it?", Khushi sobbed. Her father's silence answered her. Khushi wiped her tears, "So what does Naaniji think? She can send me away from Aakashji? No! Never!", she bowed her head down, "I will never let this happen! I will die before I am separated from my Aakashji!"

"Khushi!", her father whispered in shock. Suddenly, Khushi ran out of the room. A shocked Shashi remained shell shocked for few minutes before he followed his daughter. But his few seconds of shock cost him as when he reached outside of the house his daughter was nowhere to be seen. Hey Devi Maiyya! He prayed. Please keep my Khushi safe! Sending his prayers, he started to search for his daughter.

Meanwhile, Khushi ran towards the house and stopped when she came across the swimming pool. She looked at it for few seconds and then nodded. Perfect for committing suicide! She looked at the Mansion tearfully. Goodbye Aakashji! Hope we meet again in next life where I get to be yours and you get to be mine! And at that time I won't let anybody come between us! Tears splashed on her cheeks as she continued to say goodbye, I love you Aakashji! Never forget it! Now its time for your Khushi to leave! Sniff sniff!

Just then Arnav came around the house ready to go swimming. He was too stressed and wanted to swim to clear his mind. He saw Khushi standing there staring at the pool. Something felt wrong to him at the way she was looking at the pool. But before he could react, suddenly Khushi jumped into the pool. His eyes widened in surprise. I didn't know Khushi swam! And why did she jump in the pool full clothed? Doesn't she know we are supposed to wear appropriate swimming attire? Then he frowned. Wait! Why wasn't Khushi coming out? He became alarmed when time passed and Khushi didn't surface.

"KHUSHI!", Arnav shouted in worry as he hurled himself into the water. He swam to where he had seen Khushi jump and searched for her inside the water. He saw her near the floor and grabbing her he brought her to surface. He swam to the edge and placed Khushi on the poolside. He pulled himself out and looked at Khushi. She was not moving. He checked her pulse and was relieved to feel her alive but they seemed weak. He grabbed her hands and started to warm them. Then he did the same with the feet. Next he started to pump her stomach and was relieved to see her cough out some water. As she took in a large breath and her eyes fluttered open, his worry gave way to anger, "ARE YOU MAD? When you don't know how to swim then why the hell did you jump in?" He had the bad urge to shake her harshly and he sprang up and walked few steps away to cool himself down. Just then he was grabbed by his hand and turned around. His eyes widened as he saw Khushi standing in front of him glaring at him, "Why did you save me? I wanted to die! Why did you let me be alive?" Suddenly she broke down sobbing, "I wanted to die!" Arnav simply looked at the girl incredulously, "But why?" In between her sobs, she mumbled out, "Because I don't want to go to Mumbai!" Arnav's jaw dropped open. That's it? That's why she is crying? Just then their Butler arrived at the scene and Arnav explained what happened. Mr. Gupta apologised for Khushi's antics and then grabbing her took her away with him. Arnav simply stared at the girl in shock. "Silly girl!", he mumbled and walked off.

Next day Khushi was packed and ready to go. The night before, her father had given a good tongue lashing to her for trying to commit suicide. Khushi had remained defiant through the whole lecture till her father had asked her what would have happened to him after her death. How would he have lived without her! How could she have left him so easily! That had broken her down and she had sobbed her heart in his arms, asking for forgiveness and promising him never to do anything like this again! Her father had forgiven her and they had spent the night discussing about her new life in Mumbai.

As Khushi's father loaded her bags into the car, Khushi took one last look at the Mansion that was her house for so many years! Her eyes swung from one window to another hoping for one glimpse of Aakash. But she knew she won't see Aakash. It was early morning and Aakash never woke up till noon. She sighed. Just then her eyes fell on the window of the Study room. There stood Arnav watching the proceedings below. Khushi's face turned red as she remembered how she had tried to commit suicide in front of him! Me and my stupidity! He must think I am so silly! Ha! Let him think whatever he wants! I don't care! Her eyes looked around taking in the house once again and then her eyes fell on Naaniji sitting in the lawn looking at them carefully. Must be making sure that I do leave, Khushi thought vehemently. But Naaniji, if you think you can take my Aakashji away from me, you have got it all wrong! Even though I am away from Aakashji, I will always love him! And when I come back, I will make him fall for me! Because we are soul mates, and soul mates cannot be separated. You just wait and watch!

Tossing her hair plait away, Khushi turned to the car and got in. As the car drove off, Naaniji stared at the moving car. I hope and wish that in these 2 years, Khushi forgets Aakash! Or else, lives will be ruined!

Yo folks! How was that update? Do let me know!

Next up: We will see two years pass in one update! (He he)

Oh! Khushi gets a makeover too! (wink wink)

Thank you, take care and have fun,

Kalpana

woah, so much happened in this chapter... I think Nani wants to keep Khushi away from Akash to safe guard her life, as she knows Akash will never marry anyone.

Why is Arnav so concerned for her ? Does he love her secretly ?

Also Khushi is 7 years younger to Akash, so many years younger to Arnav ?
