Dharam would have been a better choice, however. The story is even better and Pankaj Kapur is just the kind of actor that appeals to the Oscar jury.

All said and done, the Oscars are not so wonderful that we need to worry about which movie goes there. Let VVC waste money in promoting the movie there if he likes. The bitter truth is that even to get the movie shortlisted in the final 5, you need a great deal of financial backing.

And no, you are not the only one. I liked Eklavya very much. Craftily made, different subject and a very different treatment. I don't have any issues in Eklavya being chosen for the Oscar entry.

There's one thing for which I will credit to the movie though... Its brilliant art direction and cinematography 😊
