The Next Morning:
As fresh as the morning dew, Omkara walked up to his mother's room. He entered her room to find her sitting on the low couch flipping through a magazine. He smiled and wished a good morning and sat before her on the carpeted floor.
Jaanvi-"Arey sit up naa..
Omkara-"No I m good !"he said smiling laying his head on his mother's lap.
She smiled and ran her hand hove his head.
"Aaj kuch special hai kya..?" She asked extremely happy to see a glimpse of her old Om .
Omkara-"Bas aap se baat karne kaa dil kiya..!"
Jaanvi smiles -"Hmmm..! To poocho kya pooch naa Hai..!"
Omkara turns and looks up-"Aap ko humesha pata chal jaata hai...
Jaanvi-"Hmm..mujhe nahi pata hoga toh aur kisse pata hoga..!"
He smiled and kissed his mother's palm.
He then spoke his expression turning serious-"Maa...aap iss rishtey ko khatam kyun nahi kar deti...kab tak aap Mr.Oberoi ko sehti rahengi...agar sab badal gaya hai toh iss rishtey ko naam dene se kya faaida...y don't u finish this relation and be free..! Wo ye Rishta nahi maante toh aap kyun maan rahi hai..!"
Jaanvi became thoughtful at his question."Shaadi se yun muh pherna itna aasan nahi hota hai..!"
Omkara slightly irritated-" lekin aisi shaadi kaa kya matlab Jo sirf aap maanti hai...!"
Jaanvi sighing -"shaadi se pehle main bhi nahi maanti thii ...lekin jab shaadi hoti hain naa...tab sab badal jaata hai...tum nahi samjhoge tumhaari shaadi nahi hui naa...
Omkara annoyed, as glimpses of those marriage came back to his head-"Mujhe ye shaadi ka concept hi nahi samajh mein aata jiss mein pyaar hai hi nahi..!"
Jaanvi-"Om...ye tum keh rahe ho..tum toh rishton aur Ishq mein bada Vishwaas rakthe thee kahan gaya wo Sab...
Omkara- " Sacha pyaar Sirf kuch logonko hi naseeb hota hai...
Jaanvi curling her lips into a small smile.
"Ishq wo Khudaa hai,
Jo hota sab ke Dil Mein Hai,
Magar sabko Diktha nahi Hai..!""
Ye tum ne hi kaha thaa naa...???
Om looking away in blank space-"Galat kaha thaa..!"
Jaanvi nodding her head in a No-" Tum ne Sahi Kaha thaa...!! Aur jahan shaadi ki baat hai...its not important to be in love to marry..Arranged Marriages bhi toh hoti hai...!
Omkara-"Usse Compromise kehte hain..!!!"
Jaanvi was loving this discussion with his son-" Nahi...galat..!"
Ab Shakti aur Pinky ko le lo ...unki arranged marriage thii, but they work their marriage better than me and Tej.. ! Bahut se cases mein Pyaar Shaadi ke baad hota hai..!
Omkara looked up to his mother in bewilderment-"you really think they love, its a clear compromise.. That's all..!
Jaanvi chuckling- " you think so...Om sab ke pyaar karne kaa tariika ek jaisa nahi hota...har pyaar ka rishta aapne aap mein unique hota hai... And baat pinky aur Shakti ki hai toh...tum unke Ishqbaazi ke kisse jaante hi kyaa ho...! "She said smirking.
Omkara looked even more baffled, did his mother use the word Ishqbaazi for his chote paa and choti Maa...who according to him were the poor people tied by a bond of comprise more than love.-"You must be kidding Maa...chotti Maa...No...!"
Jaanvi-"Yes...They had one of the most comical and cute courtship I have ever witnessed."
Omkara's eyes grew wide.
Jaanvi laughed at his son's expressions.
" You know what I never believed in love until I fell for Tej..I never believed in Destiny until Mine own had me surprised. kehte hain...Jo destiny mein hota hain wahi milta hai..."
Omkara cuts her in-"nahi...insaan chaaye to wo apni destiny khud likh sakta hai...!"
Jaanvi was enjoying every bit of the moment, it was like after a long time she was seeing her son ...just like his teenage days, arguing out his opinions. She pulled his cheeks just like she used to do when he was young.
"Om...maano naa maano...hum apni destiny tab hi likh sakte hain...jab destiny mein hi likhaa ho, hum khud apni destiny likhe...!!!
(We can write our own destiny only when the destiny asks us to)
And ye main apne experience se keh rahi hoon..!"
Her words made Omkara loose his tongue. She was maybe right.
Jaanvi smiles reading his expression-"Ab Shivaay aur Anika ko dehko...pagal hai dono...they would have lost love if Destiny hadn't bought them together...agar uss din Tia nahi bhaagi hoti toh they would never have been what they are...Jab do logon ko milna hota hai toh mil kar rehte hai...same was with me and Tej..!! Tej paagal hai about me...and I know Tej bahut ziddi hai...pehle bhi Maine uski Zid todi thi is baar bhi todungi... Tej ko lagtaa hai ki wo mere bina jii paayega...but I know, he will break If I leave, that is why I don't leave him... Aur ek rishte se kai rishte connected hote hain...aasan nahi hota kisi se rishtaa todna...khaas kar ki jab wo rishta Shaadi hoti hai..!"
Om looked at her dumbfounded as he realised what she was trying to imply, while a part of his head started fitting her words on himself and Gauri. He wondered whether in his case Gauri was stubborn or was he stubborn, who was letting her go..??
While Jaanvi walked up to the window and looked out, she saw ChulBul leaving the gate.
"Aur kuch log zindagi mein aise aate hain jaise hum unhe pehle se hi jaante hain...!"
Omkara looked up his heartbeat accelerating, his head flooded with thoughts.Why was he even thinking of her so much? She din't matter to him.! Lie. She did ...! The friendhip they shared did..!!
Jaanvi continued-"Chulbul ko hi lelo...pata nahi for some reason, aaj jab wo chala gaya toh aisa lag raha hai koi apna chala gaya ...
Omkara at once came out of his thoughts-"Chala gaya??"
Jaanvi-"Yea he said he had to go back to his home for personal reasons..!"
Omkara sighed and covered his face with his hands. Closed his eyes. Something dint feel right. What?? Why..??
Her flashbacks ran continuously, what if this was the last chance...what if he was rejecting the gift life was giving him...a New Beginning... A New Journey..!
No he was over thinking.
But then why din't his heart feel right...??
But his brain chided him..
Heart ..???
Or
Brain...???
He was perplexed. He had to decide fast. He looked everywhere, something should give him the answer... What should he do...??
For the first time in life,
Omkara was confused!!!
He used to be the one his brothers , his sister, even at times his mother resorted to for advice and here he himself was in between of no where unable to decide.
Jaanvi studying his facial expressions-"Kya Soch rahe ho Om...
Om looked up-
"Dil ki sunu yaan Dimaag ki..??
Dil ki sun ke Dekhi, aur bahut chot khaai,
Dimaag ki suuni toh Dil ne chot khaai,
Ab samajh nahi aa raha ...
Dil ki sunu yaan Dimaag Ki..!!"
Jaanvi's expression changed to a knowing smile-
"
Baat Dil Ke Rishton Ki Hai Toh Dil Ki Suno,
Jab Baat Duniya Ki Aaye Tab Dimaag ki Suno!!"
Omkara-"Darr lagta hai chot khaane see..ab!"
Jaanvi -" Chot se kabhi mat darna, Chot Khaana Tumhe Sirf strong banayega...!" She folded her hands smiling, while trying to figure what was up in her son's head.
Omkara got his answer, he rose to his feet at once and hugged his mother,
"Aap ne har baar ki tarah iss baar bhi mujhe raasta dhikha diya..thank you...!" He said hurriedly and ran towards the door.
A confused Jaanvi-"What...wait... Baat kya hai...baatoge bhi...??
Omkara runs back to her and touches her feet-"filal aap ki blessings chaiye...
Kuch galtiyaan ki hai...
Sudhaarne jaa raha hoon...
Kuch uljhe kisson ko
Suljhaane jaa raha hoon..!
Aake sab samjhtaa hoon,phir aap jee bhar ke daat Lena...
And he ran out to the gate.
Jaanvi- "Like always...mujhe confuse kar diya...! Paagal..!"
She was the happiest that day... She had finally got back her son she had lost due to the affect of her own unstable married life. When Omkara was around 16, her marriage had started seeing many storms, and that had left a harsh mark on her son. He had stopped being himself. Only with his brothers did his cheerful side come out And now she saw the real Omkara resurface. She just sent up a prayer wishing he stays like that, happy forever..!! And those tears of happiness made way to her eyes.
And she turned to look at her family photo.
"Thank You Om, because I now know how to get back my husband, Mr.Tej Singh Oberoi get ready to fall for your Jaanvi once again..!" She grinned.
"Enough of just existing,
Its time to Live again..!!!"
Omkara asked the staff at the gate, about Chulbul, the driver told him that he had just left Chulbul at a studio like place. Omkara asked the driver to drive him there. It was Tandi's house.
Omkara knocked on the door of the studio, Tandi opened the door.
Omkara- "Mujhe ChulBul se milna hai..!"
Tandi surprised-Yahan koi ChulBul nahi rehta hai...
Omkara looked shocked and was about to return, assuming a dead end, when he suddenly said-"I mean Gauri...mujhe Gauri se milna hai..!" He cursed himself, how could he be so stupid.
Tandi-"O Gauri Sister... Lekin aap kaun hai..
Omkara- "main woo
Tandi squeezed his eyes at him suspiciously.
Om-" Main...uska dost hoon...!"
Tandi- "Lekin sister ne mujhe apne kisi dost ke baare mein nahi bataayaa...
Om clicked his tongue aside-" Main...uska Pati hoon..!" He completed .
Tandi was now pleasantly surprised-"Acha ...aap hai unke pati...!"
Omkara was a little amused.
Tandi-"Lekin sister toh Bareli ke liye nikal gayi...
Omkara- "Whattt...! Kab...kaise...
Tandi-" aapke aane ke 10 min pehle hi...looking at his watch-" 20 mins mein unki train hai..!"
Om looked at his watch-"Kaunsi train..??
Tandi-"Woh...toh wahan jaake hi pata chalegaa...2 trains mein se ek ...mein jaayengi...jiski ticket mil jaaye..!!
Omkara hit his palm on his head-"Chalo Mere saath we have to stop her...!"
At once Tandi agreed.
Poor Driver had the worst day in his career, Never had he been cursed so much ...and what's worse was it came from Omkara rather than Shivaay or Tej..!
As they reached the station they saw the train to Bareli was already on the platform. They ran about looking for her.
Finally Omkara sighed a relief, he did not see her, but he saw Chulbul. He ran to the door where she had just climbed up after her suitcase. She turned and saw him. She stared wide eyed and then pinched her hand , He was still there..!!! She wasn't dreaming.
"Omkara , aap yahan kyaa kar rahe hain...!!!"
Om-" Tum he lene aaya hoon..!"
Gauri cleared her ears, she heard " bye bolne aaya hoon as lene aaya hoon!"
"Okay bye!" She said focussing her lenses uneasily while the other hand waved.
Omkara raised his right eyebrow-"What...!!! R u mad...main tumhe waapas ghar le jaane aaya hoon!!" He said stressing on each word.
Gauri- "lekin...
The train's whistle blew as it started snail-like motion.
Omkara-" Mujhe humare rishtey ko ek try dena hai...
Gauri- "Rishta ice cream hai kya Jo aap try denge... " she said sniffing and pouting.
Omkara-" I mean...iss shaadi ko ...work karte hai...mil ke...!"
Gauri- "Lekin...
Omkara-" dehko train chalne lagi hai...lekin wekin chodo aur jawaab do...
He walked along with the train.
Gauri smiled and nodded a yes adjusting her cap.
He smiled-"Waise why are you in these clothes...inn kapdo mein kyun...?"
Gauri-"Uu kyaa hai naa...hum last time chiriyaan ban ke aaye thee... Tab do logo ne hummein poppu banayaa thaa...isliye ee baar hum ne socha Chirota ban ke jaayenge...jab bhi Chiraiya bante hai...mooh ki khaate hain.. Lekin jab chirota bante hain toh Sab Sahi hota hai...ab aapne bhi...jab hum chiraiya thee tab him se mooh mod liyaa thaa..lekin jab hum chirota hai tab aap khud humme lene aaye..!"
Omkara saw her getting emotional.-"Ek sentence mein kitna chirota chiroti bol diyaa..lekin mujhe chiroti chaihye...!"
Gauri laughing-"Ee chiraiya ...????"
Omkara smiling -Haan...er chiriya..!" He laughed mimicking her.
She handed him the suitcase. But the train had started speeding.
Omkara- "Ab tum jaldi utro..warna mujhe chadna padegaa...aur mujhe phir se chalti train se khudne ka aur kissi jungle mein phasne kaa Koi shauk nahi hai..!"
Gauri- "Uuu sab theek hain...lekin hum gir gaaye toh...train bahut fast jaa rahi hai...!"
Om-" Gauri isse pehle train aur fast ho jaaye...Kudo..." He screamed frustrated.
And at once she jumped, and Om held her before she could fall.
They both shared an eye lock.
This time her cheeks coloured up as she felt his strong hands hold her waist.
Tindi popped up to spoil their moment, at once Om realised he had been standing there like that with her in his arms for more than 60 damn seconds." Phat the Wuck..! "
Lucky enough she was dressed as a guy and none noticed.
As they sat in car, an awkward silence filled the air. What next??
Omkara was lost in thoughts,Gauri asked him the reason.
He told her he was thinking of Shwetlana..!
Gauri asked him to stop worrying about it as she had a plan.
"Filmon mein vamps hero-heroine ki life mein entry maarti hai hero ki biwi banke aur unki honey waali shaadi tod deti hai,
Lekin humaari film mein hum entry maarenge aur USS Sultana ka aapki zindagi se pack up karaayenge..!
Omkara-" Its films...not filmein...and Sultana is not as easy as she seems...I mean Shvetlana..!"
Gauri- "Arre hum aapki life mein chiraiya ki tarah entry maarenge aur bolenge hum aapki patni hai...toh wo Sultana ji ko toh aapko bye bolna hi padegaa..!
Omkara-"Wo bolegi ki main tumhe divorce de soon toh tum Kya karogi...?" He said thoughtfully.
Gauri thinks and giving a wide smile-" Hum apni saasu Maa ke kadamon pe chalenge...aapse uu kya hota hai...ali-money...maange...aur aap nahi de paayenge...phir saas, bua aur Gauri, Milkar Sultana ka band baaja baarat kar denge..!"
Om smiled at her. "Not bad...
Aside to himself" Seems like I have to call Shivaay and Rudra back ASAP , warna inn ke drama mein main jaruur Bali kaa bakraa ban jaaunga..!"
Gauri-"Aap ne kuch kaha kyaa
Omkara-"Nahi...
The plan was that Gauri would enter the house as Mr. Omkara Singh Oberoi, two days later with valid proofs, by the time Omkara would secretly brief the family about the plan.
And then Shwetlana would be out of their lives for ever.
Omkara was not convinced, but it was the only way, otherwise things would only complicate further. Either way they were going to complicate,but this one seemed better.
Gauri waved a bye as she followed Tindi towards the studio. Tindi enteredin, but when Gauri was about to step in she was stopped by Omkara as he held her hand.
She hadlwt loose her hair and removed the specks due to the heat.
Omkara lost his tongue as her hear blew with the soft breeze and her doe shaped eyes gazes his face.
Om-"Thank You!"
Gauri surprised-"kis ke liye...
Omkara-"Mujhe aur Mere parivaar ko bachaane ke liye...mujhe sahi raasta dikhaane ke liye..warna kal main... He lookedat groundhis face growing pale..
Gauri placed her finger on his lips.-"Ab sab wahi hogaa..! Aap ka best buddy aapke saath hain humesha..!"
Omkara smiled and hugged her at once.Gauri was very happy though she dint reciprocate the hug.
Omkara broke apart realising she was Gauri not ChulBul... But one thing was for sure she was his best friend..!
Maybe his wife was supposed to first be his best friend and maybe then lover.!
Even if Love never happened, he would cherish this friendship forever.
If only he knew that day,
His wife was truly in love with him,
If only he knew that day,
That it Was the beginning of the journey from friendship to Love.!
If only he had realised that day,
"Jab hota hai Dil Raazi,
Toh Shuru Ho Hi Jaati Hai Ishqbaazi...!!"
