What a twist Sanjana...I thought Arnav slapped her but no our brave Khushi slapped Lavanya. She deserves it...and I think one Anjali deserves too. I just hate them. But I don't like when Khushi compared Arnav with Shyam. He truely in love with her and she is comparing him with that idot. Lovely chapter.

Arnav being himself was there to protect Khushi but she didn't need him! I wish Arnav said something more to Lavanya!

There's something more to Anjali! I think she understands but is scared to believe woman like Khushi coz of some kind of past probably!

Arnav's confession shocked me too! Wasn't expecting him to say just like that in anger!

And Khushi's reaction is justified too! She is bound to say something like that in shock!

But Arnav's reaction now is something i'm eagerly waiting about!

Khushi has found her lost strength back and jab baat ho character ki, she had to be spontaneous enough to shut her up.

Arnav would have thought that it was futile to argue with that mindless girl 😆

Let's see!

Khushi's and Arnav's reaction would be worth-reading in the next chapter! So, wait 😃

Thank you 🤗 ily! <3

Khushi turns brave when it's about her character 😆 Anjali deserves some counselling and some good distance from Lav Khushi's reaction was justified because after going through so much with Shyam, which started with 'love', she thinks that same would be with Arnav.

Thank you 🤗

Sorry sorry laakhon sorry for being late this time. To compensate, here's a pretty long chapter. Enjoy! And haan, don't forget to keep a box of tissues with you 😆

*

"You know what? You are no different than Shyamji!"

His eyes went wide in shock. He wanted to breathe, but he couldn't do anymore than just an audible intake of air. He wanted to scream, but his mouth couldn't do anymore than just being slightly opened. He wanted to move forward and stop her, but his legs couldn't do anymore than just stay there as if they were petrified.

Yes, Arnav, she just compared you with her husband.

His eyes moved rapidly, from the closed door of her room to the ground to everywhere. His breathing was so hard and loud, that it pierced his own ears. He lifted his feet with difficulty, stumbling to his room.

He walked through the space in front of his bed, back and forth and back. He wanted to stop all the emotions, for he was afraid that he might just fall apart if he doesn't hang on.

The fear wasn't actually of falling apart, but of left to weep alone.

He swallowed the hard lump sticking in his throat, his body slumping down on the bed.

It wasn't like he had let his love give birth to expectations for her to reciprocate the same; but then, when he had promised himself to not to care about his love, at least till the time she gets completely normal, then why did he blurt it out? Was it for his Di to understand that he won't lose her like they lost their mother? Or was it for Lavanya to realise that she is nothing to him as compared to what Khushi is? Did he think about Khushi at that time? No.

What was the result?

His eyes closed tightly and he pulled his knees closer to his chest.

He felt alone, so alone.

*

She went to her room and closed the door behind her, sliding down on the floor. She wiped her tears and shook her head, more tears falling out of her red eyes.

She got up from the floor and limped slowly to the cupboard. Retracting her night-clothes, she got changed from her sari. She walked back to the bed and lied down on her side, closing her eyes tightly.

"Khushi," he sat beside her and took her hand in between both his hands, "I love you!"

She looked up at him, stunned by his confession. Soon, a beautiful blush crept up her cheeks, as she softly replied, "I love you too, Shyamji!"

She changed her position, turning to the other side, pulling her arms closer to her body. A loud sigh left her mouth.

"I love her and she is going to stay with me, forever!"

Her eyes closed more tightly, her whole body squirming. She felt herself trembling, and she realized, it was not due to cold.

"You know what? You are no different than Shyamji!"

She felt disappointed at herself for saying that to Arnav. For all that he did for her, he definitely did not deserve being compared to that man who destroyed her.

But then, it did feel that she was at the starting point of the same thing again. Like, her history is going to repeat itself. It felt like she had done this before and suffered because of it; and her inner self was scolding her for not learning from her mistakes.

It felt so wrong.

It felt like a battle between her past and her present. She wanted to take all the precautions before letting herself dive into what Arnav wants her to dive into. There was no courage left in her after being stabbed so hard by life.

Her stare at the ceiling broke by the curtain that flew because of the wind.

She got up from the bed and closed the windows. Not feeling like lying down again, she sat down on the couch and opened her diary. After scribbling for sometime, she kept it aside and got up again. Not able to untangle her chaotic mind, she gave up and moved out of her room.

She glanced towards Arnav's room and found the door ajar. Her eyes lowered down and the anxiety worsened.

Don't, Khushi. Don't do this. You have done this before with Shyam and we know how it turned out to be.

A voice screamed from within her. Tears started welling up her eyes again and she turned back to leave.

*

The sun's rays hit his closed eyelids in the morning and involuntarily his arm went up to cover them. His neck felt stiff and his head was pounding with pain. He didn't realise when he fell asleep, but he definitely knew that it was not the most peaceful sleep he had had in a long time. There was his mother, his sister, somewhere his father too and then Khushi - all flashing at the back of his head.

All he wanted to do is put a stop to everything.

Being Anjali's strength, he made her his weakness.

Being Khushi's strength, he made her his weakness.

And in the end, his weaknesses stabbed him where it hurt the most.

He shook his head, combed his hair through with his fingers and skipped out of bed. He brushed his teeth, took a quick shower, changed into his office-clothes and strode out of his room. He was determined to make the day work in his favour; because, he won't let anything break him apart.

Anything.

He walked to the dining table, glancing at Khushi's room for a fractional second. The door was close. She must be asleep, he thought.

"Arnav baba, here's your coffee," Hari Prakash placed the mug in front of him, turning to leave back to the kitchen.

"Hari kaka, where's Khushi?"

"She left early in the morning," he answered and Arnav's eyes grew wide.

"Where?" He asked, suddenly panicky, wanting to hear something good from his mouth.

"For work, probably," he shrugged his shoulders lightly.

"Alright."

He looked down on the table, sipping his coffee.

*

He leaned back in his chair, clearly not in such state of mind that could make him work. He wanted to see Khushi, to know if she is alright. The solitude was already killing him and he wanted to win her back in his life again - not for the sake of his love, but for the fact that he couldn't afford to lose her from his life, then be it that she stays on like they previously were.

"Sir, Varun sir is here to meet you," Aman knocked his cabin's door, making him sit straight.

He stood up from his chair, walking towards the door to let his brother-in-law in.

"Arnav," Varun went ahead and embraced him in a quick hug, "All okay?"

Arnav nodded his head lightly, stepping back and lowering his head. "Jijaji, if it is about Di, I don't want you to waste your time -"

"Will you listen to me?" Varun calmly asked, gaining a nod from Arnav. He moved towards him and put a hand over his shoulder, "It's not about Khushi, Arnav. Anjali cares for you."

"Then why can't she just let me do what I want to? Why does she keeps dissing Khushi?"

"Everything she has against Khushi is because she fears that she might leave you. She can't just see you to go through that same phase again when your maa-"

"Khushi will not leave me!" He fisted his hand over the table, his facial muscles hard and stern.

"I know that, I know, Arnav," he patted his back, "You need to prove this to Anjali. She can't see you breaking down again!"

"I did not break down at that time. It didn't affect me at all," his voice grew taut with anger, as he looked straight into his eyes. "And she'll see for herself when Khushi would continue stay with me."

"I hope so," Varun almost whispered, "I hope that she loves you back the way you love her."

With that, Varun walked to the entrance of his cabin. Turning back for one last time, "Even if she does leave you, don't feel alone, Arnav. We're there for you."

Arnav stared at his retreating back for quite some time before falling back on his chair and leaning his head back. His both hands went up to hold his head, as he closed his eyes tightly. The pain was real. He wanted to scream so hard that his dead mother could hear him, to let her know that his Khushi isn't weak like she was.

*

She looked at the small screen of her mobile phone to check the time. 09:30 pm, it read. She sighed and put her phone back on the table, her ears yearning for the doorbell to ring. Arnav was late, but she was sure that he would come.

After being lost at work and being scolded twice by her senior colleague, she had finally decided to have a talk with Arnav.

She can't just be so ungrateful. Even if her insecurities came ahead of what she felt for Arnav, she should not have compared him to Shyam. She decided to apologise to him and that would just decrease some tension between them.

After about half-an-hour, she heard the door being knocked instead of the doorbell ringing.

Her brows rose in confusion and she hurried up to open the door.

Something felt wrong.

"Arnav," she stepped aside to let him in, trying to act as normal as she could, "You go and freshen up, dinner is ready."

He shook his head and walked ahead towards his room, "I'm not hungry, Khushi."

Before she could speak anything else, he had closed the door of his room behind him.

She looked back at the dining table, and then at the closed door again. Feeling her throat tighten and tears prick her eyes, she walked back to the dining table.

*

She gently pushed the door to Arnav's room with one hand, the other one balancing the plate of food. The room was dark and her eyes traced him sprawled over the recliner. She placed the plate on the table and knelt down to take off his shoes.

"Please have some food," she softly whispered, standing up and looking at him for a few moments. He seemed to be asleep and she decided to leave. Just as she turned, she felt something wind around both her legs and cage her.

"Khushi!" She heard a very disturbed voice from behind her, and wanting to turn around, she almost fell. His arms unwound themselves immediately and she swiveled around. He had fallen on the floor from the recliner and his head wobbled to its side, the moonlight showing an expression of agony on his face.

"Please don't go.. Please Khushi.. Please don't leave me," he cried and his voice grew louder and hoarser. He placed his hands on his knees and bowed his head down, closing his eyes tightly.

Khushi bent down in panic and held his face with both her hands, pulling his head up to face her. She felt growing wetness under her fingers over cheeks and the panic rose.

"Don't cry, please," her voice choked up and her fingers moved rapidly to wipe off his tears. He grabbed both her hands with both his hands and looked straight into her eyes. "Get up, come." She stood up and tugged his arms to pull him up. He tried to lift himself up from the floor but fell down again, "Arnav!"

"Don't go, Khushi, please," he leaned his head against her thighs, his arms winding around her legs again.

"Arnav, please get up," she struggled to pull him up and succeeded finally. She let him wrap an arm around her shoulder as she helped him to the bed. He lied down and Khushi sat against the headboard, gently combing his hair with his fingers. His eyes closed and he lifted his head on to her lap. His mouth opened to speak something, but she shushed him with her soft whisper, "Shh, sleep."

"I had trapped you in a cage all this while..." he opened his eyes and a stream of tears flowed down his temple, "I never asked you whether you want to stay with me or not.. I brought you here and left you with no choice but to live with me..."

She rubbed his temple to dry out the fresh tears, not able to speak anything.

"Because I wanted to protect you. That day in the hospital, when you said that your husband did that to you, I..." he closed his eyes, his throat tightening and not letting him speak further. He swallowed the lump in his throat and continued in a hoarse voice, "I felt like you are my responsibility and I could do everything to bring back your lost happiness.

"When I got Mish to meet you, and you smiled... It felt like the brightest thing I'd ever seen! I felt like I found where my happiness lied, because every time you were happy, it made me happy."

He closed his eyes as he felt a tear drop over his forehead, "You don't cry, Khushi,"

"I had decided I would never confess my love to you, but that day when Di compared you to maa, it felt so wrong.. You aren't weak like her, Khushi. You are much, much stronger than her!"

"Arnav, why?" She sobbed.

"Because I love you." he whispered, breaking into a very gentle smile. His eyes closed and his head felt heavy, when Khushi realised that he had fallen asleep.

She carefully got up and placed a pillow under his neck, stumbling to the side of the bed. She sat down on the floor, her back against the bed, and cried.

I wrote this chapter last week, then deleted it because I didn't like it. Then I re-wrote it, and deleted it again. I wanted this to get really intense. I hope I was able to do justice with their reactions. Not completely satisfied, but was already so late, so just posted it like that.

Please, please let me about your views. Comment / PM / scrap me!
