Where is the love?
(Title taken from Black Eyed Peas)
Love, affection, sympathy, care, irritation, disgust, hatred and repulsion.
Feelings, emotions, sentiments and reactions.
That's what makes us human.
When a child, barely clothed with twigs as hands reaches out to you? What do you do? Feel repulsion or sympathy? What do you're human instincts tell you? To feed the child, to shoo it away or to simply ignore?
Where is the love?
Hidden in a metal cage or swiped away with your credit card!
He who is the staged' as the demon child, he who is accused' of witchcraft, he who is neglected by his own parents, he who survives on the streets in millions and forgotten in a thousand of places.
Why, is the question?
Where is the love?
Where is the humanity?
Kicked, shoved and through away, left to scavenge on his own. He who is barely 2, he who should be safely tucked in bed at home in the dark cold night is made to sleep in the lonely pavements with millions of threats.
Where is the love?
Food is thrown into bin every day, but no one cares to think of him. He picks through the garbage in the hope to find something decent to eat, while you pull your nose in disgust.
Are humans losing their humanity?
He who crawls through the streets unable to walk, so malnourished that life seemed to be fading away much like his flesh. People looked, some even sympathised offering food at times. While others ran away or threw bones his way, as if his some kind of animal.
Where is the love?
What was his fault? To be born with an abnormal defect.
Was that his chose? He who has no say in anything was flung out like trash by his parents.
Where is the love?
But then, one day a miracle happened. Someone with kind eyes and love in her heart opened up to the poor little child, she took in him and shared the news with millions of people around the world. Who in turn sympathised and helped restore the faith back into humanity.
He who now has a family of orphans, he who now is healthy and happy. He who now has a home and future.
Where is the love?
Right inside you, in your heart and in your eyes, in your smile and in your every gesture.
Speak in affection and care.
Give in charity be it money, food or even a smile.
Strive to be a better human.
Love is there, all around us but it's our responsibility to share that love and to nurture it. Don't hide behind social norms or ignore your responsibility. We are all a part of one society, so these poor abandoned children around the world are our duty.
Be kind and stay kind.
Authors note:
Inspired by a true story: Hope and Loven. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urPVHrk5J_M I saw this video a couple of days ago and it left me in a miserable state. How could someone be so cruel to a small innocent child, even his own parent's? Hope is the hope for many children who live in a similar condition. His now healthy and going to school but there's still millions out there who need help. It's sad and heart-breaking, I myself can only help through charity however some of you are fortunate enough to help them physically, so please do your part as humans. It don't need to be in cash, a little food and a few kind words would suffice or maybe handing them to the local authority or the nearest orphanage would be a better deal.
Thank you.
