As far as I know, in India there is no law against such despicable behaviour. As per my experience & knowledge regarding such incidents, the relevant abuser almost always either gets a clean chit or escapes punishment owing to his/her superior position/authority. HR hardly makes an impact, willingly or unwillingly. Sad & obnoxious, but bitter truth.
It has been a welcome relief that the country that I am residing & working currently has got strict laws against bullying. And this is one of the first codes of conduct an employee is being asked to assimilate once the person joins any organisation over here.
