Shekhar kapoor delighted with Aamir

New Delhi: Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur was in the capital as part of the annual Pravasi Bharatiya Divas on Tuesday. Dressed casually, Kapur made was present at the inaugural day of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas.

The filmmaker's latest project Elizabeth: The Golden Age did not work commercially and nor did it receive any critical praise.

But brushing aside any feelings of disappointment, Kapur was his usual self, enjoying his rebel-with-a-cause image.

"I'm actually too much of a rebel. I was sidelined here also, remember. When I was working here, for all the films I made, I've been sidelined here. I think I've been always considered a man outside the system. Whether it's here or out there, I'm always the man that works from outside the system. I never get into a system," said Kapur.

Kapur, who has been in India since November, took time off to catch up with some of the latest Hindi films at the box-office. And it was Aamir Khan's directorial debut that impressed him the most.

"I haven't seen a film since Masoom where the kids have acted so well. Last time I saw kids acting well was my own film," he said with a chuckle.

"I think it's a great debut for Aamir. It's a very honest, very courageous film. I called up Aamir and I said, 'I wouldn't have had the courage to have an art competition as the climax of the film.' It's very courageous, it's very honest, it's very moving, what else do you want?" he asked.

Kapur is currently working on his ambitious Hindi film project Paani and is also planning a theatrical on the lines of Bombay Dreams.
