Varun Dhawan to take music lessons & learn martial arts for Judwaa

Varun Dhawan on his first double role which requires him to take music lessons and learn martial arts in a month-long prep for London.

After Badrinath Ki Dulhania releases on March 10, leading man Varun Dhawan is going to take a month-long break to prep for his upcoming comedy-actiondrama Judwaa 2, in which he reprises Salman Khan's double role. The actor admits that it's not going to be easy playing the twins.

"People don't understand the effort that goes into a commercial film. Many think that all you need to do is go to the gym and look good for the camera. That's not true Judwaa 2 is going to be a difficult film because dad (director David Dhawan) has set the parameter very high," asserts Varun.

The 29-year-old actor is going to take professional training in Parkour " a discipline using movements from military training that involves running, climbing, swinging, vaulting, jumping, rolling and many quadrupedal (involving four limbs) movements. "I will have a special martial arts teacher for Parkour since there is a lot of action in Judwaa 2. I will also undergo weight-training from Prashant Sawant, who will travel with me to London for the first schedule since I need to maintain my look throughout," the actor told Mirror, adding that he is already on a new diet and has been taking timely meals from Lean Kitchen which provides him with a balance of carbs and proteins.

The two characters that Varun will be seen as are Raja, an uncouth Mumbaikar who sports a long mane, and Prem, who has studied in London and becomes a musician. Varun will take music lessons for Prem.

"Dad and Sajid sir (producer, Sajid Nadiadwala) kept me in mind while fleshing out the characters. I am from Mumbai and I went to Nottingham Trent University in England so I know what it's like to be a student in the UK," the actor points out.

For this film, he reunites with his Dishoom co-star, Jacqueline Fernandez, who plays one of his love interests and describes her as an "absolute work horse who's always smiling and brings positive energy to the set". The other leading lady is Taapsee Pannu. "Taapsee is a dynamite, I've known her since Chashme Buddoor (the actress's Bollywood debut, directed by Dhawan Sr)," he raves.

Meanwhile, papa David is busy with the film's pre-production in London, finalising locations as well as meeting the film's international action unit. "He is always one step ahead of me when it comes to ironing out the details and bringing the excitement to the sets. Hopefully, I'll be able to match his energy," Varun signs off with a smile.
