We are pretty aware that the police officer is not the same as the one whom maya slapped. But they are showing him to be that because they think we have bad memories or because they don't really care, they feature anyone according to the story's need. Because they could have easily shown a new police officer investigating the business. But they didn't. Maybe because:
1. No other police would constantly poke into someone else's business after autopsy report showing heart attack to be the reason of death. Only if they have puraani dushmani they would.
2. Maya might have framed Ayan's case including the slap and the police officer too ...in this case again because she might be the reason of the heart attack, but wants to shift focus on someone else. Someone else here can be either arjun or jahnvi. Jahnvi obviously is more dearer to her after she herself, and then is arjun. So maybe either she wants to momentarily shift public focus on arjun and later she's pretty sure she can save him with money power. She had to do something since the person died publicly.
3. Maya framed the whole case to trap arjun bit by bit...keeping the police officer poked into the matter because she had come to know about the drunken outbursts of arjun and wants to take revenge.
4. They want to show that maya is absolutely clean this time but had framed Ayan's case but slapped the officer out of plan and so he's angry now and wants to take revenge but will ultimately find nothing.
5. Saanjh came to know about the Ayan case framing, contacted the offiver and brought him back in this case too so that eventually she and him together would slowly unravel everything.
6. Saanjh might be the actual cause of aswin's heart attack and knows the officer personally and has done some setting to keep things buried for some days till she finds out every truth and finally she would surrender.
I know this is total Bullshit but I am a bull maybe.
