Hello guys, I'm going to try to do episode reviews a little regularly. No promises there though. Hope you guys enjoy reading this! Always up for a healthy discussion.
1. The oldies + baap beta bonding
What happened: The episode starts with the Singhania and Maheshwari ladies discussing what jewellery they should wear. The ladies, decked up in their finest, are all set to crash the Kaira photoshoot (how I wish they would) but Naitik and Naksh save them the embarrassment.
What I liked: It was adorable to see the S&M ladies think that the wedding photoshoot was meant for the whole family and not just the couple. N2 saving them from that awkward conversation by saying they were taking them out for lunch and actually going through with the plan, was something I could see happening in real life too. Don't we all thank our mother's by surprising them?
Plus Points: I liked them reminiscing Gayatri Sr. and Akshara and their photoshoot at the Maheshwari house. For a viewer who's seen the show from the very beginning, it is nice to see that the family still misses those characters. I also loved that Naitik and Rajshri (how stunning did she look BTW?!!) still maintain the mother-son relationship and Akshara's passing has only made the S&M bond stronger.
2. The hilarious mehendi card!
What I liked: We all know how weddings can turn into a show of one-upmanship. Bua dadi trying to compete with GTD was funny. Naitik was concerned that this was turning into a battle of who's more flashy, but Bua dadi being the smarty pants that she is said she had just the one card for the Goenka's. Kudos to BD for correctly predicting that look of disdain on GTD's face.
3. Naksh - Manish and their comedy of errors
What I liked: The awkwardness that Manish had while talking to Naksh was mind blowingly hilarious. 'Kuch pioge?' has never made me laugh this hard. I'm looking forward to this relationship!
Plus Points: Manish not wanting Naira to know was so in character. He definitely wants to be in his bahu's good books.
4. A brother's concern
What I liked:
Naksh - Once Naksh spotted Kirti at home, his mind just raced to Naira and how she would deal with everything alone. These scenes aren't remotely romantic. But I can really see N&K fall in love in the future. I ship these two kids (plus Rishi is phenomenal, so I'm really eager to see how his story progresses too!)
Kartik - Getting out of the car and making sure his sister has a safe ride back home. It might not mean much to any one else, but these are things my brother would do for me, so I really liked this scene.
5. Main usse support karunga
What I liked: I love how K and N can sense each other's discomfort. K rushing to hug N the moment he lays eyes on her. Or rushing to her defence on sighting the bath tub. I love that they support each other and push each other for the right things. It's endearing to see these two tar-tarring idiots backing each other up now. It's a sign of a healthy relationship.
Ideally, I would have closed with a Kaira related point. But I decided to address two important things after this.
6. A girl's intuition
What happened: Devyani asks Naira whether her opinion of vintage being in is in tandem with Gen X's thinking and Naira absentmindedly answers in the affirmative. Naira addresses the vile Aditya with that hello (that was unintentionally funny, Shivangi was so good there). And she senses someone's eyes on her at the photoshoot location.
Why I bring this up: Most of you would be familiar with that buri nazar walli look or when someone's sizing you up. It sucks. It is an intuition we're all born with. Some times a glance or a touch from someone is enough to send shivers down your spine. Naira is feeling the same. She is uncomfortable around the creepy Aditya but she's trying to rationalise her thoughts and not jump to conclusions. She's never been in this situation, has she? The only guys she's interacted with have been well brought up gentlemen who'd never cross a line. So, it's impossible that someone who has been raised in the same pedigree as her brother and fianc could be vile, right? It could just be a bad guess. That's probably her thought process. Naira's intuition stands for every girl's intuition. We've all been faced with situations like this. And I know Naira is one to give it back when she really has to. It'll be a lesson to girls to not keep quiet and speak up against injustices. (I know I am reading into this way too much, but this is something I feel strongly about. We should never let something pass by because we have a feeling - most often than not it's right and worth confiding in someone else.)
7. A woman's faith to fight for her relationship
What happened: Aditya makes a (hollow) gesture towards bridging the gap between Kirti and him.
Why I bring this up: This is how reality is. People fight for relationships. Kirti's trying hard too (even though Aditya doesn't deserve it) but she's trying. May be she's expecting him to become the man he previously was. May be she's expecting her marriage to survive whatever crap was dished out to her in the past. Don't we all expect respect in a relationship. Try thinking from Kirti's perspective. She has been treated really badly in this marriage, but here was her husband trying to call truce, trying to mend fences. She would want to try to fight (for the relationship), wouldn't she? May be her relationship earlier was a happy one. So, I really liked that she was willing to work on her relationship with Aditya. (We know about Aditya's duality and why he was being nice to Kirti. She doesn't. She still thinks of him as deserving of her forgiveness.) Real people too are willing to go the extra mile. And that's why I liked how Kirti reacted.
Phew, this was long. If you've made it down here, let me know:
- How should Naira get back at creepy Aditya?
- Aren't brother's just the besssttt!!?
- Do you too ship Naksh and Kirti (thodu sa)?
