if a producer makes a raw deal with theatre owner, that they will screen the movie at thier theater, they will not have to pay a penny, net gross after entertainment tax will be shared between the two in 60-40 or 70-30 or 50-50 share.

Than how will the trade sites give verdict, on the basis of budget as their is no distributor amount which movie owners get.

Producer Sell it to distributor

Distributor sell it to exhibitor

Exhibitor play films in theatre.

Old chain system, now some production house cutting middle man Distributor, means they producer & Distribute themselves, earning more profits.

But SELLING is irreplaceable, Will be done in any way.

YOU Sold a film @ price... VERDICT Film ke business pe aayega... SOLD Se 15-20% Jayda karo, Edge pe aaoge HIT ke... u do 25-30% More - Sure HIT... this way ladder moves up.

I also had a question. Is the price at which movie is sold to distributors directly related to number of screens. Like, suppose if 1000 screens pe sold at 40 cr, toh 4000 pe sold at 100+

And what does underselling a movie to distributor mean? Isn't that beneficial?

They Selling on Star power, film's fate doesn't matter. STAR Bada hai, price badi milegi.

Exhibitors don't buy movies.. they get to play movies in their theaters for free.. badle mein unhe milte hai 50% of the money they get from ticket sell.. baaki ke aadhe jaate hai distributors ko.

Minimum Gurantee Amount is paid by Theatre owners only, on which they get prints. Never heard they getting film for free, in this way those disaster films, they would never pay a single penny.

I thought it was Producer selling to Distributer and then Distributer selling to Exhibitors who makes a deal with theatres, and then backward flow of profits depending on the success of the movie?
