Does Underworld still run bollywood?

I was reading a few articles on how underworld financed nearly every film in the 90s until it stopped due to some new govt rule or something. My question is, are the underworld still heavily involved in bollywood or has their presence been eradicated from the industry?? I personally find it hard to believe they just left and I have a feeling there is still some underworld people active in Bollywood. What do you guys think?
