When it comes to patriotic movies, nothing can beat classics. My most favourite ones are: -

1) Shaheed (1965): First film on Shaheed Bhagat Singh, made by Manoj Kumar, starring himself as the patriot. He'd done thorough research according to my correct/incorrect limited knowledge, which included meeting Shaheed Bhagat Singh's mother as well. I love the kind of realism he attempted to show, including songs. He was and always will be best portrayal of Shaheed Bhagat Singh for me.

2) Haqeeqat (1964): Made on China-India war of 1962.

3) Anand Math (1952): Based on Anandamath famous Bengali novel by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1882.Tthe Vande Matram versions in this film are one of the best.

4) Border (1997): One of my most favorites.

5) Gandhi (1982)

6) Jhansi ki Rani (1953)

7) Purab aur Pashchim (1971)

8) Lakshya (2004)

9) Rang De Basanti (2006)

10) 16 December (2002)

No the movie isn't against the government but the corrupt ministers and the system...No I don't believe fighting against the government is like fighting against the country...Its quite the contrary...Bhagat singh etc fought against the 'then' government and don't we call them patriotic?

My question is something else...What I am trying to ask is there are so many movies which are predominantly centered around the fight against the corrupt system- like Gangajal, Khakhee, Aarakshan etc...Can all these movies be piled up as patriotic movies?
