Amrita acts funny
The actor is upbeat about being part of Shyam Benegal's satirical comedy 'Mahadev'
MUMBAI: The petite Amrita Rao, who will soon be seen in a glam avatar in E Niwas' 'My Name is Anthony Gonsalves', has just returned from a shooting schedule of her latest movie 'Victory'.
But what seems to have made Amrita ecstatic is doing film-maker Shyam Benegal's upcoming film 'Mahadev'. "Shyam sir has always been on my 'wish-list', ever since I watched his 'Zubeida'. It's great to be included in his filmography, which includes actors like the late Smita Patil and Shabana Azmi. 'Mahadev' is a satirical comedy. I play a traditional role opposite Shreyas Talpade who is such an awesome actor. It's the first time I am 'acting funny'," she quips.
Was Amrita disheartened when despite the successful 'Vivaah' she was not repeated by director Sooraj Barjatya in the sequel? She responds unruffled, "The script required an elderly-looking girl. Rajshri Productions is like home ground for me," insists Amrita who had 'a blast' shooting in Hyderabad with co-star Harman Baweja in the cricket-centric 'Victory'.
Was Amrita getting addicted to comedy, since she is also part of Anil Kapoor's 'Shortcut' directed by Neeraj Vora? "No! 'Shortcut' is not exactly a comedy, it's more of a thriller, where I play a diva," she counters.
What made Amrita do the hero-centric movie 'My Name is Anthony', with newcomer Nikhil Dwivedi? "It's a nice role. I play an assistant director while Nikhil is the aspiring hero. " ends Amrita.
