When Deepika Padukone's look alike received death threats
South Indian actress Amala Paul, who bears striking resemblance with Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone, received death threats and even got chastised - Read the full article to find out why

Deepika Padukone is currently at the top of her career. Not only is she a celebrated personality in India, but she has also become a global name ever since she has ventured into Hollywood. And when you are so famous, your look alikes and impersonators are bound to crop up. But, what if your look alike is also a famous face ? Well, such is the case with Deepika's so called doppelganger. We are talking about Southern fame Amala Paul. Her resemblance to Deepika has always been a talking point on social media. And when we checked out her pictures, even we realized that there is a resemblance which cannot be overlooked. Check out for yourself -

While they are both beautiful in their own ways, we can't deny the fact that Amala does bear some resemblance with the Bollywood star. Interestingly, Deepika too has her roots in South India. When asked about it, Amala said in a recent interview, "People have said that I look like Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone, but I don't want to be like anyone. I want to make it in the industry on my own."

Amala has always been controversy's favorite child. Be it for allegedly walking out of Dhanush's film 3, being uncooperative on the sets of Lingusamy's Vettai, reportedly dating director Vijay or receiving backlash for her portrayal of a controversial character in the film, Sindhu Samaveli; Amala has always created waves in Kollywood.

Amala received severe criticism for her role in Sindhu Samaveli. It was based on the illicit relationship between a girl and her father-in-law. Many sections of the society felt that it showed Tamil culture in wrong light. She revealed in an interview that she received threat calls continuously for two days for essaying such a role. Not only that, she was even chastised by her fans outside a Chennai theatre. Later in an interview, Amala admitted that she regrets doing the film. She accepted that she was inexperienced and promised to never do such a film again. The actress is doing well for herself in Tamil and Telugu cinema.

Are Tamils really that Militant?
I hear some like to brag that their region is more progressive, richer and educated than other states.

Tollywood is better than Bollywood.

Was the father-in-law in the film a priest?

Anbu (Harish Kalyan) is a brilliant student in a village school, in Kanyakumari area. His mother teaches in the same school and his father Veerasami (Ghajini) is a CRPF soldier in Assam. His classmate, Sundari (Amala Paul), who is elder to him by three years falls for him. One day, his father gets injured in a militant attack and takes voluntary retirement and comes back to the village. The father dotes on his family, especially his son, but tragedy strikes as his wife dies from a snake bite.

Both father and son are devastated. Anbu decides to fulfill his mother's dream of becoming a teacher. Around this time, his father and other relatives pressure him into marrying Sundari. The newly-weds are together for hardly a month, before they are separated as Anbu has to go to the teachers' training school. Sundari is left in the house to look after her father-in-law. Soon due to certain incidents and circumstances, they enter into an illicit relationship. One day Anbu returns to find out the bitter truth.
