While they are both beautiful in their own ways, we can't deny the fact that Amala does bear some resemblance with the Bollywood star. Interestingly, Deepika too has her roots in South India. When asked about it, Amala said in a recent interview, "People have said that I look like Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone, but I don't want to be like anyone. I want to make it in the industry on my own."
Amala has always been controversy's favorite child. Be it for allegedly walking out of Dhanush's film 3, being uncooperative on the sets of Lingusamy's Vettai, reportedly dating director Vijay or receiving backlash for her portrayal of a controversial character in the film, Sindhu Samaveli; Amala has always created waves in Kollywood.
Amala received severe criticism for her role in Sindhu Samaveli. It was based on the illicit relationship between a girl and her father-in-law. Many sections of the society felt that it showed Tamil culture in wrong light. She revealed in an interview that she received threat calls continuously for two days for essaying such a role. Not only that, she was even chastised by her fans outside a Chennai theatre. Later in an interview, Amala admitted that she regrets doing the film. She accepted that she was inexperienced and promised to never do such a film again. The actress is doing well for herself in Tamil and Telugu cinema.
