Ranbir Kapoor's foreword for his father's autobiography 'Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored' has grabbed all the attention as it reveals about the kind of equation he has with his mom and dad. The actor who is close to his mother termed his relationship with his father as a 'formal' one.
Ranbir writes,"I am closer to my mother. I feel that Dad modeled his relationship with me on the one he shared with his own father. And it is true that I have never crossed a certain line with him." (sic)
"But there is no sense of loss or vacuum here. I do wish sometimes that I could be friendlier with him or even spend more time with him." (sic)

As the father-son bond is quite formal, Jr. RK doesn't want to have same kind of equation with his own kids. He shares," Sometimes I wish I could just pick up the phone and ask him, 'Dad, how are you doing?' But we do not have that. We do not have a phone relationship." (sic)

"When I get married and have children, I would want to change that dynamic with them. I don't want my relationship with my children to be as formal as the one I have with my father. I want to be friendlier, be more connected, spend more time with them than he did with me." (sic)

Even though things are not quite friendly between them Ranbir loves his father a lot and calls him as a source of inspiration! The 34-year-old actor writes, "I love my father dearly and have immense respect for him. I'm inspired by him and never want to let him down. I know he has only my best interests at heart. He also takes care of the financial side of my work. So we are more connected now." (sic)
"His confidence in me and my work makes me take pride in it. I persevere that much harder because of this. His belief and his encouragement are important to me." (sic)

Calling Rishi as a 'straight arrow', he wrote," I do not have a take on his Twitter personality. All I can say is, so long as he is being honest and having fun, it's his prerogative. Social media is something very personal." "Of course, he gets himself into a spot sometimes with his frank speak, but I know he has no agenda and no hidden motive. My father is a straight arrow." (sic)

Well, if just the foreword of a book can reveal a lot of things, imagine how many things will be disclosed after the autobiography gets published.

I wish Chintu Jee wasn't so stuck up in the time wrap of his relationship with Raj Kapoor as Father -Son!!
Good that RK realized that it's not the Kapoor way !!

The whole situation is messed up I feel bad for rk,father is the hero in any child's life, but rishi seems more like a distant figure, wanting to be respected more than to be loved.

Rishi is actively trying to get involved in RK's life. Taking care of his two puppy babies, looking after the finance, even being happy on Twitter if anyone shares thier photo together. It is interesting how RK is looking to break the mold right from beginning. We always try to undo our parents mistakes. I just wish RK would settle down, have family and concentrate on movies. It will help him bring himself closer to his father. Nothing helps break the ice as grand children.

I hope so. Raj Kapoor was a great film maker, terrible husband and apparently a not so great father. Ranbir seems like him as an actor, I hope he breaks the mold as a parent. Karishma and now Kareena seem to have broken those molds as parents, hopefully RK can too.

Chintu Jee has written one chapter on RK and he seem to be getting closer to his son.
I am sure they 'll manage to build a rapport soon.
It's just huge generation gap between them. Happens in many families. Neetu mom seems to be the cement that binds the family.
