CHAPTER 9.

Geet had just kept the phone down when she became aware of the unnatural silence surrounding her. Yeh ajeeb sa sannaata kaisa? Hospital mein toh logon ki chahal pahal chaubeeson ghante hoti hai! Toh aaj yeh shanti kaisi? She got out of the bed, leaving her phone behind. She walked to the door and looked outside. Not a single nurse or wardboy was around. Geet gulped. She turned around and walked to her bed. She picked up her cell. The unnatural silence scared her and she had a bad feeling in her stomach. She dialled Maan's number when suddenly the phone was pulled out of her hands. She turned around and was horrified.

"Hello Geetto Rani!"

Khushi smiled at her children. Dono kitne pyaare hain! She turned around to walk out of the NICU. She felt so better now that she saw her kids. Bhabhi was right! Coming here really calmed me down! As she slowly started to walk towards the wheelchair which was outside the NICU, she frowned for a second. Yeh shanti kaisi? Itna sannaata? Aur jo nurse humein le aayi thi woh kahaan gayi? Bol rahi thi woh humaare saath hi rahengi! Just then her heart started beating faster. Ek minute! Saare guards kahaan gaye? Humaare bachchon ko bachaane ke liye hi toh woh guards they yahaan! Hey Devi Maiyya! She turned around and wobbled over to her children. She looked at them with worry. If something happened how will she protect them? Just then she heard a voice, a voice she never thought she would ever hear, "Hello Khushi! Dekho! Tumhaari maut tumhaare saamne khadi hai!" Khushi turned around and her eyes widened. There stood Annie, her hands wielding a knife, her eyes malevolent, her lips quirked into a smug smile. Khushi positioned herself in front of her children's cribs. She had to protect them! She had to!

Geet stumbled back in shock. Only one word slipped out of her mouth, "Dev!"

Dev gave a mocking smile as he slapped his hand on his heart, "Haaye! Tennu main yaad tha? Tu ne mennu pehchaan liya! Haaye! Dil khush kar ditta!"

Geet moved from shock to anger and her eyes blazed, "Tu etthe ki kar raha hai? Chala ja yahaan se! Warna Maan tujhe zinda nahi chodenge!"

Dev gave a bitter laugh that had Geet shuddering. He looked at her with smirk on her face, "Zinda? Bhool gayi kudiye! Ek baar main mar chuka hun! Phir bhi agar main zinda hokar waapis aaya hun toh soch, mujhe maarna kitna mushkil hoga! Dekh kudiye! Nakhre band kar! Chal mere naal! Tennu rani banaake rakhunga!"

Geet looked away in disgust, "Kya tujhe sharam nahi aayi? Ek shaadi shuda ladki se aisi baat karte hue?"

Dev grabbed her hand and glared at her, "Tu shaadi shuda hogi duniya ke liye! Mere liye tu meri Geet hai! Meri hai tu! Samjhi?"

Geet wrenched her hand away, "Tu chad de mennu! Aur mere sapne dekhna chod de! Main marr jaaungi lekin teri kabhi nahi banungi!"

Dev shook his head, "Mennu pata tha tu yahi kahegi! Isliye toh Maan ko gumraah karke etthe aaya hun! Tujhe uthaake le jaane!"

Geet's eyes widened. She took a step back in shock. Dev started to walk towards her. Geet continued to step back. Her hands were on her side and her left hand touched something metal. She blinked in surprise before she remembered. The metal tray holding her meds was placed on the bedside table and that is what touched her fingers. She smirked for a second before she schooled her features into neutral. Dev noticed the smirk but before he could wonder why she smirked Geet sprung into action. She lifted the tray and flung it at his face. The tray hit him square on his face. He stumbled back by the assault. Geet did not stop. She pushed the moving bedside table towards Dev next. Dev side stepped the table but was still hit by the side. Geet took the opportunity to run by him towards the door. But before she could step out of the room, Dev had grabbed her from behind and lifted her up. Her feet dangled in air and she smacked his hands but Dev simply laughed. He started to walk towards the door with Geet held in his arms.

Khushi's eyes widened when Annie started to walk towards her. Her hands gripped the crib railings behind her in fear. Her hands tightened on the railings as Annie reached her. Khushi took in a deep breath as Annie raised her knife. That's it! I am going to die! Khushi thought as she eyed the knife. But what Annie did next is something Khushi didn't expect. Annie backhanded Khushi. Khushi was so surprised by the move that her hands loosened their grip and her left hand touched her cheek. Annie used the chance to push Khushi sideways. Khushi fell down and looked up just as Annie looked into the cribs and raised her hand.

"NAHI!", Khushi screamed but Annie simply smirked as she aimed the knife at Khushi's babies.

Geet screamed as loud as she could. Dev tightened his grip on her waist and Geet continued to scream.

"Arre! Aise chilaayegi toh jo security waalon ko maine itni mehnat se behosh kiya, woh uthke baith jaayenge!", Dev growled. Geet ignored him and continued to shout. Dev put her down and placed one hand on her mouth while using the other to grab her body. Geet realised that she had a wonderful opportunity. She looked down at the hand on her mouth. She bit the hand and Dev shouted. He pulled the hand away and started to shake it vigorously.

Geet ran blindly not even noticing the direction. Mujhe Khushi ke paas pahunchna hoga! Agar Dev ke aadmiyon ne Guards ko behosh kardiya toh pata nahi Khushi ke saath kya kar rahe honge! Mujhe use bachaana hoga aur agar woh log uss tak nahi pahunche toh mujhe use warn karna hoga! She looked around for lift as NICU was two floors up. But then she realised that the lift was in other direction and to reach there she had to pass by Dev. She turned to other side and was relieved to see the stairs. Perfect! She scrambled up the stairs but few seconds after she started climbing she felt a burning sensation on her chest and looked down. Her eyes widened as she saw blood bleeding through her gown right where she was hit by the bullet. Stitching kheech gayi hongi jab Dev se bachne ke liye main apne haath paav chala rahi thi! Her legs buckled as the bleeding on her gown increased. She felt her strength weaken. Hey Babaji! She wanted to collapse but remembered Khushi's little babies. Nahi! Mujhe Khushi ko kaise na kaise warn karna hi hoga! She continued to climb huffing and puffing and reached the next floor. She had to climb another set of stairs to reach NICU's floors. But Geet found that she couldn't climb anymore. She was feeling breathless and each breath she took was harder than the earlier one. She looked around the floor she was standing in and found the floor filled with doors leading to various rooms. She stumbled to the first door and tried the knob. But the door seemed locked. She tried another door but it didn't budge.

"Geet!", Geet heard Dev roared and Geet looked at the stairs in fear. She heard his footsteps and realised he was climbing slowly like a hunter stalking his prey. She thanked Babaji that the arrogance of Dev resulted in him climbing up slow. She tried some more doors before she came across an unlocked door. She heaved a sigh of relief and entered it. Geet knew that she was locking herself into a room and the only way out would be through Dev but Geet had hopes that by stalling Dev here Khushi won't be attacked by him and hence be safe. Meanwhile Geet could remain in the room and stall Dev till Maan and Arnav arrived. She was sure that by now both men would have realised that they have been fooled and be on the way to hospital.

Geet closed the door and tried to lock it. Her breath hitched as she realised that the door was not locking. That meant Dev just had to turn the knob and enter. Hey Babaji! She decided to find another room; a room that locked from inside and helped her in stalling Dev. But the moment she wrenched the door open her eyes widened. Dev had just reached the floor and was looking around. Luckily he had yet to see her. She shut the door. She can't run out now! Ab main kya karun? She looked around the room and saw many instruments. Perfect! She winced as the pain on her chest grew a little. She took in a deep breath. Nahi Geet! Tu ab haar nahi maan sakti! Dev ne tere puraane parivar ko zinda nahi choda! Lekin ab tu use tujhse tere naye parivaar ko cheen ne nahi de sakti! Maan, Khushi, Arnav, Samar, Khushi ke bachche! Mujhe in sab ke liye ladna hi hoga! Kisi tarah mujhe upar pahunchna hoga aur Khushi ke madat se bachchon ki jaan bachaani hogi! Humein Dev ko rokna hoga jab tak Arnav aur Maan nahi aate! She looked down at the place where she was stitched. Please! Please! Kuch der aur seh lo! Maan aur Arnav abhi aate honge!

Geet took in a deep breath and grabbed the moving bedside table. When she had pushed the one in her room at Dev, she realised that they were wheeled and could be pushed quite easily. She positioned it in front of the door waiting for Dev to open the door so she could push it towards him.

Just then she heard Dev open the doors close to the stairs. His voice echoed in the corridor, "Geetto! Kitthe hai tu? Arre kudiye! Tujhe ab tak toh samajh aaya hi hoga ki tu mujhse bach nahi sakti! Toh koshish kar kyun rahi hai?"

Geet took in a deep breath and readied herself. The element of surprise was on her side and she was definitely going to take its advantage. Dev continued to taunt while opening the doors and getting closer, "Oye kudiye! Tennu bata dun ki teri koshishein bekaar hai! Dekh! Guards ko toh maine behosh kar diya hai! Aur rahi baat Doctor aur Nurses ki toh woh log building ke basement mein band hai! Aur mere aadmi un sab pe nazar rakhe hue hain! Main toh un logon se bol diya! Saare patient ko bhi lock kar do! Bas meri Geet ko mere liye chod do!"

Geet felt her anger bubble and she steadied herself to push the table and then run. Dev continued to speak. Geet felt he was only two doors away going by his voice. "Aur haan! Teri uss Khushi se madat ki koi ummeed mat rakhna!" Geet's blood ran cold and she focused on Dev's voice as dread pooled in her stomach. "Khushi zara busy hegi! O ki haina, mere pyaari behen Anvesha uske paas gayi! Usse aur uske bachchon ko maarne! Ab tak toh kaam tamaam hogaya hoga!"

Geet felt tears welled up in her eyes and she was tempted to give up her fight. Ab Maan aur Arnav aagaye toh bhi kya? Do maasoomo ki toh jaan gayi na? Meri pyaari nanad toh gayi na? But then she shook her head. Nahi! Mujhe aise assume nahi karna chaahiye! Mujhe ummeed rakhna hoga! Ab toh mujhe yahaan se bachke bhaagna hi hoga! Agar Annie uske saamne hai toh Khushi ko meri jaroor madat chaahiye hogi! Mujhe aur zor lagaana hoga! Khushi! Main aa rahi hun!

Khushi watched with wide eyes as Annie raised her knife at her babies. Nahi! Nahi! Hum yeh hone nahi denge! She pulled her strength together and grabbed Annie's ankles. This made Annie loose her balance and fall to floor. Khushi had the chance to only smirk for a second before Annie sat up with a scream. Khushi mentally prepared herself to fight. And if necessary, she would fight to death. But Annie could hurt her children only over Khushi's dead body. Khushi sat up just as Annie lunged forward to stab her. Khushi grabbed her knife wielding hand with both hands and forced it away from her. The struggle began as Annie tried to push the knife towards Khushi with both her hands while Khushi tried her level best to keep the knife away from her. Khushi lost balance and fell onto the floor, Annie following her. They rolled on the floor as they tried their level best to angle the knife away from them. It was fight amongst two equals. Annie and Khushi were equal in height and stature and if Annie was weak due to her stay in mental hospital and living in hiding for last few days then Khushi was weak too from her stay in hospital and blood loss during her recent delivery. So the struggle continued with impasse while babies disturbed by the noise started to cry loudly all around.

The door slammed open and Dev had only one second to get excited about finding Geet before the moving table hit him in stomach and he crumbled down in the room. Geet took the opportunity and ran away. Just then she stumbled as her legs started to tremble. Geet realised that the bleeding was making her weaker. Forget climbing the stairs, she couldn't walk even a single step. Sweat pooled on her face while she doubled up in pain. With shallow breathing, she looked around for a safe hiding place till she gathered her strength and found a cupboard. She opened it and found enough space in it for a human body to sit in. She climbed into it and closed the door. She heaved a sigh of relief. But then she remembered Khushi. Ab kya hoga? She joined her hands and prayed to Babaji. Babaji! Meri Khushi ko theek rakhna! Use aur uske bachchon ko kuch nahi hona chaahiye! She took another breath only to realise that she couldn't breathe properly anymore. That's it! She was going to die; not in the hands of Dev but by her stitches being pulled. She closed her eyes as she waited, either for Maan to rescue her or for death to take her away.

Khushi felt fear well up inside her as after another bout of struggle her strength started to vanish and the knife steadily headed towards her. She had to do something drastic! She struck her fist out and hit Annie square on her face. Annie fell back and started to scream as her hands held her right eye. It turned out that Khushi had punched her right in her eye. Khushi was tempted to take the knife out of Annie's hands and stab her but her first priority was her children. In their struggle, what if Khushi or Annie had hurt her babies? No! She had to take them and run away. But before that she had to do something. She kicked the knife that was in Annie's hand and it flew few feet away. It will take Annie few seconds to reach the knife and few seconds was all Khushi needed. She lifted her children, one in each arm from the incubator, knowing that what she was doing might make them a little weak. They had to be in incubator for their health's sake as they were premmies but Khushi was sure Annie would murder them if Khushi didn't take them and run away. With both babies in her arms, she scrambled towards the door. Just as she reached the door of NICU, she stumbled back. A feeling of dizziness enveloped her. Hey Devi Maiyya! Yeh humein kya ho raha hai! That's when she remembered the reason why she was in hospital and still not released. She was still weak from her blood loss during her delivery and later her almost drowning had affected her lungs. Hey Devi Maiyya!

The door opened and Geet was grabbed by her hair. She screamed, part in fear and part in pain at the sudden action. She looked up to see Dev glaring at her as he dragged her out and pulled her close. He gave her an evil grin, "Aaj teri khair nahi kudiye! Main chaahta tha tujhe apni rani banaana aur tu hai ki menu chadke bhaag rahi hai! Ab toh tujhe zinda chodke koi faayda nahi! Tera mar jaana hi achcha!" Geet's eyes widened as Dev waved a gun at her face with other hand. She gulped. She was going to die! Right away!

Khushi realised that she was about to fall. Her babies! She placed them in the nearby cribs as her dizziness increased. She staggered as she turned around. The vision in front of her blurred for a second. When it cleared she was alarmed to see Annie walking towards her with her hand raised holding a knife. No! She cant die like this! No! She watched with shaky legs as Annie walked towards her with murderous hint. She subconsciously placed her hand on the nearby table to support herself as Annie came closer. She felt something cold touch her hand and she grabbed it. This might be her last defence and she was not going down without a fight!

"Yeh Hospital mein sannata kyun hai?", Maan commented in shock as he and Arnav entered the hospital shouting their wives' names. They looked around but they could see nobody around. No Nurses! No Doctors! No Guards either! They looked around and were shocked to find the bodies of guards lying there behind the reception counter. Arnav checked their pulses and confirmed to Maan that they were just unconscious.

"We have to reach Geet and Khushi's room!", Arnav told Maan. Maan pointed to the lift, "Pehle lift se NICU pahunchte hain! Khushi aur Geet ko toh atleast apne aapko defend kar sakte hain! Bachche defenceless hote hain!", Maan growled.

Both men looked at each other for a second confused as to where to go and then Arnav nodded, "I will take the NICU! You take the women!" Maan nodded and both ran away, Arnav to the lift and Maan to the stairs.

Maan reached Geet's room and was shocked to see it empty. He went back to the stairs. If they are not down then they must be up. Just then he heard Geet scream. Geet!

The lift reached the top floor and Arnav ran out. He was shocked to hear babies crying loudly in the NICU. Why aren't nurses trying to quiet them down? The only reason that can happen is ... His eyes widened. They are here and my babies are in danger!

Dev raised his arm holding the gun as Geet looked at him with wide eyes. Her eyes noticed his finger reaching the trigger and she closed her eyes. A shot rang! "GEET!", she heard Maan scream. She opened her eyes in surprise only to see Dev looking at her in shock. Just then his grip on her slackened and Geet could only watch in shock as Dev crumpled down. She watched uncomprehendingly as his head started to bleed. She looked up and took in a sharp breath at what she saw. Maan stood there with gun aimed towards Dev. Maan shot Dev! Right in the head too! Geet had the realisation as she looked down at unmoving Dev.

"NO!", Arnav roared as Annie raised her hand to stab Khushi. And just then something strange happened. Annie was stumbling back in shock. Why? Arnav looked down where she was grabbing her abdomen and his eyes widened. A surgical scissor was protruding out of her abdomen, handle side gleaming at him. He looked up to see Khushi glare at Annie, "Ek Ma apni bachchon ke liye kuch bhi kar sakti hai! Khoon bhi!" Annie doubled up and went down.

Maan reached Geet just as she fainted. Just then the cops arrived, checking Dev while Doctors rushed in behind them. Cops must have found them and rescued them, Maan mused as he watched the whole procedure in shock. One Doctor checked his wife and declared that she needed surgery to restitch her wounds and stop her blood loss. Maan's hands fell limply at the side as his wife was laid on stretcher and taken away while Doctors shouted for immediate prepping of the Operation Theatre. Maan absentmindedly heard one of the constable declare Dev dead but he didn't care. He simply followed his wife.

Arnav surged forward and hugged his wife. Khushi closed her eyes as she hugged him back. The Cops arrived and Doctors and Nurses followed. Nurses headed to the babies to calm them down. Arnav pulled away and grabbed their children. Khushi leaned on him for support as both played with their children ignoring how the Doctor was drugging Annie so that they could operate her and then ship her back to mental hospital. The Nurses took their babies away to place them in their incubator and also to check on them and make sure that the ordeal of being taken away from incubator had not left any bad impact on them. Arnav hugged his wife again as they watched their children.

The nightmare was over! Now life could begin again!

That was a thrilling climax. Hope Geet is okay and Khushi's kids are not adversely affected. Looking forward to next part...

awesome climax geet was shocked to see hospital empty she didnt know dev had made the hospital empty so he could tajke geet away geet was horrified to see dev he had the upper hand he forcefully took geet while khushi was struggling with annie to save her kids from her here geet got the oppturnity to escape but due to her injury she was struggling alot here khiusho was fighting hrad to save her kids though she was also weak but still she didnt give up her inner mom was making her strong dev was trying to brainwash geet but she was stalling dev til maan and arnav comes and saves them and when things were just abt to seems in the favor of the villians the heros made their enrty and saved their love lady their life would be normal as bith were able to defeat the villains
