Everyone is complaining about THE KISS today. Over hype and under execution are the reasons for this reaction from the audiences. I am not exactly complaining, may be because I didn't expect a better execution going by indian tv serial history in the recent years. I was like get it over with and give me a good story at least.

Kiss is used in movies/tv to convey a certain emotion, usually romantic love. There is usually too much of 90s Bollywood fluff around the kiss in tv soaps, that I find it stupid. The hero wants the kiss, the heroine shies away. He chases and she runs away. He holds her head and tilts it with a background music score playing. They bring their lips closer and closer and even more closer and then cut to another scene. Where is the emotion conveyed in this whole exercise?!

There are more realistic lip locks shown on the big screen nowadays, but small screen is still more for complete family viewing, and hence the 90s Bollywood kind of beating around the bush about a damned kiss. But can't they convey the emotions involved in a kiss properly without putting so much emphasis on the joining of lips alone. Isn't kiss about the whole body and mind?! Whole gamut of changes occur in people when they kiss a person they love. Flushed faces, slightly swollen lips, heavy breathing, hooded eyes, dazed mind, tense bodies... That's what a kiss is about. Its about the happy hormones playing havoc on your body and mind, not just about joining of the lips. And there is spontaneity in a kiss. People don't take for ever to swoop down for a kiss. That eagerness and spontaneity in going for a kiss is what brings out the passion, not the slomo fluff they show. To show all the intricacies involved in a kiss that I mentioned just now, you don't even need to show the actual lip lock! I will stop here before I come across as a sex guru.

P.S. To give the credit where it is due, I totally enjoyed the cocktail party dance sequence. It was really done well. I do appreciate the effort they put in dishing out 5 episodes per week, which comes to about 120 minutes of screen time. I don't want to nitpick, but I do expect a sensible and sensitive story. They already have such gorgeous actors who are perfect for the characters. They can do wonders with just a little more emphasis on the most important element, story and narration that is.

It looked like they we're wearing prince and princess costume and chatting 😕 ...
And also , it looked like they we're trying to convey..ther kiss made a blast 😆 ...

So I would never expect to see the actual lip lock on Indian telly .. but because the next scene cut to the phone call whereas I
Would expect it to be panning on their faces to show their expressions and after effects like a blushing M and a happy contented SK ..
M slightly rubbing off the lipstick mark of SK's face anything that portrays intimacy not just physical but emotional too.. it leaves me confused

@bold
Absolutely! That's where it went wrong.

Yup there is negligence creeping in with story and narration, hence so many loopholes. Waiting for this marriage track to be over to decide whether to continue or leave the show.

@DSR- Nice post on the anatomy of a kiss!😆

I'm a happy customer, am realistic about what to expect at 8pm IST on Zee.

I think they did pretty well. The actors looked beautiful and I liked the music. The scene was something I could happily watch with Mom w.o embarrassing myself. That's ok.that happens when your TG is families.

They shoved the blast drama and skipped the nuances that you explained. That's ok.Hope TRP folks tune in numbers.

I think they conveyed lot thr' the kiss, don't mean the physical display, i meant where the characters stand in their relation. They've sealed their fate with that kiss. That's critical to the story.

Well done!

True! Just yesterday i watched "jab we met", in which there is this scene where the leads hug for a very short period of time, like a minute. A completely innocent and spontaneous hug suddenly transforms into something more and then they separate awkwardly. There is no overtly sexual portrayal in that scene, but it came out so beautiful, because of the emphasis on emotions and small intricacies of the gesture. Why can't they do that for tv romance?!

Other than bad editing, I think what went wrong with the scene was,the lack of intensity, to show a kiss scene there should have been an ignited fire between the couple, that should have looked to incinerate them😆,by the end of the scene it was like..chalo okay done, and a tick in Shaurya's to do list😆😆

Oh you misunderstood my post, my friend! My post was more about emotion than anatomy of the kiss. What they actually showed by focusing on the lips alone, is about anatomy than emotion. About watching with family, i find a quick lip lock less embarrassing than this "almost kiss" that extends for a good 5 min with background music and focus on lips. Refer to the scene from "jab we met" I described in one of the above replies. That's what i like, but may be that's just me.

Are you sure about sealing their fates?! People still have doubts about that part because they shot it so confusingly by mixing blast drama with it. Add to it Shaurya's weird dialogues and expressions. It didn't do it for me. I actually liked the terrace one better. I wish it was the only one they ever showed.

I actually liked the dance sequence very much. That had the emotions. The kiss had none. I am not too bothered about it though. Its a daily soap and I don't expect them to excel in every scene/track. Just want the story to be sensible. That's all.

Oh and to get back the trp, i believe that they should get "cooking" part of the show back, which is totally missing nowadays. Cooking is the heart of this show, if Mehak and Shaurya are the soul.

I m happy with the kiss scene yaar it was nice not perfect but good. Watched it 20times already . Okay Frankly saying I was have love the kiss of mehek herself wud have initiated the kiss as a thanku to shaurya for what he did for her. Creating your fairyland is a big effort and he is giving his full to their relationship .i just felt editing was bad they cud have shown the whole kiss sequence and then a interupting call and shaurya's irritation . Rest I like that shaurya was not even bother to place that red cloth aside while kissing her. Their ball room dancing was nice and sweet specially that phone light thing but was again bad editing I was say. Loved how mehek placed her hand on shaurya's face one time and they were so into each other hugging each other holding close and tight. Yesterday was my favorite episode of the whole week
