CHAPTER THIRTY NINE

He got to the door and opened his room Shagun's hand still in his as he led her in. He turned smiling seeing his kids from the corner of his eye that were looking at them the entire time but as soon as he closed, he instead dragged her throwing her into the bed turning the locks on the door.

'Wha... What are you doing'' Said Shagun scared

Raman in a few strides was standing in front of Shagun his hand around her neck and his eyes filled with so much rage she began to think he was going to kill her

'Plea... Raman... Plea ...'' She said struggling to talk as he continued to choke her

'Can't brea...'' She added and he let go causing Shagun to fall on the bed coughing

Raman stepped back taking his coat and tie off allowing her to catch her breath as he pulled a chair and sat across from her. She looked up at him holding her neck not believing he had just done that. When she looked into his eyes, he had so much venom and hate that she became nervous and realized things had backfired.

'Rama...'' Shagun tried to talk

'Okay first things first... Who are you?'' He asked seemingly calm but she knew better and she was terrified

'It's me... Shagun... Raman ...'' She said

'You and Simmi must think I am an idiot...I have been in love with Shagun since the day I met her, took me 8 good years to get over her. She was everything to me, she was my life line. You really think I wouldn't be able to recognize her... What do you two idiots take me for...'' Said Raman

'Raman... I swear it is me... I am Shagun... Your Shagun... I have no reason to lie to you... God knows how I have spent the last two years since I gained my memory back...'' Said Shagun and Raman scoffed

'Do you know how ridiculous you sound right now...'' He said

'I know it is hard to believe trust me I know... But I swear... I had to get a few surgeries here and there to repair the damage the fire caused maybe that I why I look so different from what you remember... ' Said Shagun teary

'Oh No... You look just like her alright... No questions asked... ' Said Raman

'Once the blast went off I was coming out of the building. The blast sort of threw me to one side and I ended up banging my head in the process got internal injuries in my brain. I was in a coma for 3 months and when I awoke I had no memories of what had happened. The doctor who handled my case was kind enough to take me in and that is where I have been living up until 2 years ago when I regained my memory...'' Said Shagun

Raman looked at her like she was crazy and yet he had to admire her tenacity and conviction. If he was the weak hearted man like he was a few months earlier, he would have probably bought that story given how much he missed his wife. This plan was good in fact it was great except for one little detail, when you love someone as much as he loved Shagun, that person becomes a part of who you are. Even the little of things that may seem out of place or ordinary to people who just know her, they are a major difference to him because he knew her, she was like a second language to him.

He knew everything about his wife, probably understood her better than she understood herself, he lived for her as she did him so he knew for a fact that this thing in front of him couldn't have been her, there was no way that this was Shagun

'Fine... I like your little story except for a few glitches... I will start with the more obvious... Shagun loved our children more than anything in her life. There is no way in hell, amnesia or not she could have put their lives at risk...'' Said Raman

'I didn't...'' Shagun began

'No...No... Let me finish... You said your piece, my turn. Shagun, above all else, was a good mother. No mother would put her kids in harm's way like that just because she misses them. She would never compromise the wellbeing of Ruhi and Aditya just because she missed them. 'You had my kids put themselves in harm's way, sneaking around and going to parks with you all the while lying to me about it. My children have never lied to me and you somehow took the most vulnerable part of them and manipulated it to your advantage... How malicious do you have to be'' He said and Shagun sat back quietly

'And now to the most obvious bit of this ridiculous scenario... For you to walk in here with Simmi suddenly being best friends is downright ridiculous. She hated Simmi's guts... As a matter of fact they never spoke for two years to the day she died...'' Said Raman looking at her

'Tha... What... I don't... Look a lot of things happened back then but I wanted to move on and start a new...'' Said Shagun

'Are you sure... Because the last time we spoke about that issue you said if I ever brought it up again you would divorce me and if your memory is back it means you know of the despicable thing she did'' Said Raman

'I believe that Simmi has changed... She helped take care of my children while I couldn't, that was more than enough penitence...'' Said Shagun

Raman looked at her his eyes softening and his heart fluttering a bit as he watched tears fill her eyes. For a second, just for a second he could have bought it until she said

'Is it because of that kid you were with when I walked in at the launch... I thought you said you would never be with anyone else but me. You promised me...'' She cried making her angry and it took everything in him not to smack her all over the place

'Wow... For a minute I swear my heart fluttered. You almost had me until this minute...'' He said and she sat back as he stood up

'Shagun always said to me if anything ever happened to her, I should live my life and be happy. She told me that why she would know that I was taken care of. She always told me that once she left me I would become someone who needed a lot of love to be not only get over her but also be happy. Her only condition was that I never forget her and also the woman I chose to be with should put me and the kids first...'' He added

'I... Plea ...'' Shagun began

'It was so ridiculous when she said it to me that I got so made and we had a fight after that because I never thought what she was telling me could ever be possible until...'' Said Raman

'Tomorrow figure something out I do not care but you are leaving my house. I will take care of the kids myself... He said as he grabbed his jacket and he angrily walked out

'Raman... Raman ...'' Called Shagun crying but Raman refused to listen walking out instead

Back at the hospital, Ishita had finally gained consciousness and she was getting a grueling from Mr. Kapoor and rightly so. She had neglected to take care of herself and that is why she was in this place. She had more to protect and more responsibility and going around falling sick because of a man was not showing very good tenacity on her part.

'What is wrong with you? Do you have a death wish...'' Said a very angry Mr. Kapoor but Ishita with her head down didn't say a thing

'I thought you wanted to be strong and make your mother proud. In what sense is all this nonsense achieving that... So what... You want to kill yourself because of him... Go ahead...'' He yelled

'Okay that is enough... You have been going at this for hours, I think she gets the point...''Said Bebe

'Your mother was the strongest woman I know and she never wavered on anything especially when it came to her business. The only weakness she had was a weak heart. She gave herself too much to a man who didn't even care if she breathed, looks like that trend is genetic and it will flow through to another generation...'' Said Mr. Kapoor carelessly

'Papa...'' Said a shocked Priya

'With all due respect, you just crossed a line...'' Said Mihika as she turned to look at Ishita who had tears streaming down her face

'It is not my fault that you loved her and it was unrequited, neither is it my fault that she chose him over you over and over and over again. You could have left but you opted to stay, you could have just taken what she offered but you opted to take care of me instead and I really appreciate it but do not go crossing a line... I can become nasty and I can be a bitch as well...'' Said Ishita as she stood up and began pulling the IV from her hand

'Ishu calm down...'' Said Priya as she tried to hold her

'No one, talks about my mother like that not, even you Mr. Kapoor...'' Said Ishita grabbing her scarf and keys

'And FYI, You are just a guardian to me. Do you know what those are, employees... I can change that anytime I want...'' Said Ishita teary as she stumbled making her way out

'Hey Old Man, what the hell was that...'' Said Bebe as she turned to Mr. Kapoor but he just ignored her grabbing his phone

'She has gone out, tail her, and make sure she is okay but also give her some space...'' He said hanging up

'Ya... Are you ignoring me ...'' Yelled Bebe

'She needed something to be mad about, someone to be angry with since clearly being angry with that buffoon isn't working so far. I gave her a reason...'' Said Mr. Kapoor as he turned walking out

'You really ticked her off, what if she actually changes her guardian...'' Bebe began

'Because I know my daughters better than they think...'' He said turning to Priya before he walked out

CHAPTER FORTY

That was the one place Ishita always loved to go to when she was pissed or angry or upset. It always brought her a sense of calm because it reminded her of her mother. They were all worried for her but they understood maybe she needed to be a lone to just gather her thoughts and deal with this in her own way. She was stronger than she led on and they knew it.

They had a lot to tell her especially about her father and she had the potential of saving his life and as much as he didn't have much time, she needed to do that on her own terms and come to that decision on her own terms.

'So am I the only one thinking we should just go after her...'' Said Mihika

'We should or maybe we should give her some space'' Said Bebe

'Or maybe we should tell her that her father is dying and he needs her help. Isn't that what is important right now...'' Said Mihika

'I actually agree with Mimi on this one...'' Said Priya

'Shouldn't someone be going after her...''Said Mihika

'Just give her an hour, I will go get her myself...'' Said Bebe as she slumped down

'Seriously what kind of punishment is this... The girl can't catch a break...'' She added shaking her head

'Knock... Knock...'' Someone came in causing them to turn around

'What are you? A stalker ...'' Said an irritated Priya

'No... I was just...'' Said Pratik running his hand through his hair and taking a deep breath

'Are you alright...'' He added clearly concerned and Priya frowned a bit looking at him as she said

'Oh thank God... My heart sunk to my knees for a minute...I thought something had happened to you...'' He said

'Why would something happen to me...'' Said Priya confused

Priya turned and looked in the direction he had taken completely worried about him but her ego wouldn't let her go check on him and just like that, a chance to fix their problems went bye and the gap between them began getting bigger.

'Whatever... Take care of him...'' Said Priya before she turned and began walking out

'I swear you girls are complete idiots...'' Said Bebe shaking her head and deciding to stay out of it

Back outside, Ishita had made it to the parking lot and as dizzy as she was feeling; she didn't want to be in that hospital anymore. It was embarrassing enough what she had been through and she was also ashamed that she had gotten to that point because of a man. She had self-respect and she had done nothing wrong although she couldn't help but feel like she did.

If it was a while earlier, when she was not so clouded with her feelings for Raman she would have been able to sense the most obvious thing about the so called Shagun, something even Raman should have seen at first glance but somehow missed it.

She got to her car turning the ignition on trying to get away when suddenly someone appeared in front of her car refusing to barge. She frowned a bit before she looked critically realizing who she was. She put her jacket on and got out of the car

'What kind of drama is this now?'' Said Ishita as she stepped out

'Hello Sis...'' Said Vidya

'Aren't you supposed to be in Canada with what is his name, Malcom, Marvin or whatever...'' Said Ishita

'Well... It is actually Martin and we have been married for two years now but...'' Said Vidya completely unsurprised at Ishita's tone

'I don't care... Why are you here...'' Said Ishita

'Hey... I am not Abhimanyu stop throwing attitude, plus you like me so stop pretending...'' Said Vidya as she took Ishita's hand and walked her back into the hospital

'What are you doing? Can't you see I was going out...'' Said Ishita irritated

'You're ill... And sick people normally have to follow doctor's orders... You are the only family I got so take care of yourself...'' Said Vidya

'Seriously... Family really...'' Said Ishita with a slight flattering chuckle

'Well yeah, your mom is no more, my mom is as good as dead to me and our dad is... Well...'' Said Vidya as she turned to Ishita

These two found out about each other when they were still teenagers; Ishita was 18 when she found Vidya. At first it was difficult but they realized that battle they were trying to fight wasn't theirs but their parents. So Ishita like a big sis would do took Vidya under her wing and took care of her under the raider. Once Vidya turned 22, she fell in love with a foreigner, Martin, who was no so young, he was 10 years older than she was and her supposed father, Ishita's Uncle wasn't too happy.

Vidya was being prepared to come and take part of what the Shergills and Iyers were worth because illegitimate or not, Vidya was an Iyer. What the Raina Raghav didn't depend on was these two step sisters getting on very well and also hiding that fact to the world almost to perfection, until now.

'Well it is about Dad... He has really bad health problems and I think he needs our help and by our, I mean your help ...'' Said Vidya

'Okay am confused...'' Said Priya who couldn't understand the formality and familiarity between the two

'Am pretty sure Uncle thinks you disappeared... That is why he keeps on hanging around Raina and Ishita... You realize he has been looking for you...'' Said Mihika

'I do not understand why he would do that, he asked me to choose between them or Martin and I chose... Why would he be looking for me...'' Said Vidya unconcerned

'Okay how do you come into the picture'' Said Priya pointing at Ishita

'Why would I... She did nothing wrong. She needed my help to disappear and I helped... Plus she is my little sister looking out for he is sort of my job...'' Said Ishita turning to Vidya

'He needs bone marrow transplant... I am not a match and so...'' Said Vidya making her insinuation as clear as possible

There was a silence in the room they allowed Ishita the time to allow that information to sink in. She had her issues with her father but she was still a daughter and he was her father. So the reaction that came after no one expected

'Hang on... He needs a piece of me to survive...'' She said with a smile on her face

'I don't think you should be smiling at this...'' Said Bebe confused

'Why does he need bone marrow'' Said Ishita

'Lymphoma... Stage three... He had Chemo therapy but I think he has had a relapse and chemo won't do, he needs a bone marrow transplant...'' Said Vidya

'So what has that got to do with me...'' Said Ishita

'Well we need you to take the test to see if you're a match...'' Said Vidya

'And if I am...'' Said Ishita

'One step at a time...'' Said Vidya looking at Ishita

'Bone Marrow you say...'' Said Ishita thinking before she smiled adding

'Why go to another hospital, they can do it here...'' And she got up and walked out of the room

'Are you coming not...'' She shouted

CHAPTER FORTY ONE

Raman had spent the night out because he really didn't want to deal with the issue that was in his house and also mostly because he wanted to go met Ishita. The problem was he didn't know where she was and no one was talking, not even Romi. His only hope was Pratik but he wasn't picking his calls until that morning.

So he got back home completely ignoring Shagun who seemed like she had stayed up all night not that he cared. He freshened up, walked to his kids' rooms and kissed them both before he walked out. His instructions were very clear and he was certain she would abide by them, or so he hoped.

He hated his fate and just wished things in his life had turned out differently. It took a lot for him to get over Shagun and when he finally did and had fallen in love with someone else, it felt like there was a new problem all the time that being with Ishita had begun feeling like it was a chore and he hated himself for feeling that way. He hadn't allowed himself just be and enjoy being with her and always blamed her when things went wrong, something he regretted a lot.

He got to the hospital where she was supposed to be but she had already been discharged. He had been running around looking for her although he was quickly realizing that finding the great Iyer Heiress was not an easy task. Romi was the only one who knew what was happening and given how scares he had been it was evident he was avoiding him. He figured he just go home and check on his children before he began looking for Romi to figure out what was going on.

Raman walks in to a very different scenario he left that morning. His kids were running around excited hugging him. His mother was seated at the end of the Livingroom and he could tell she was tense about something. Mihika was there as well as Romi as, as he made his way into the Livingroom and

There she was, Ishita, she was seated at one side of the room while Shagun at the other. She had not noticed him that he was in the room yet given her concertation was still on her phone, or she just pretended she didn't care, either way, her being there made his heart flutter and he was shocked that she was there.

''Wha... Wha ...'' He tried to talk but his throat has suddenly gone dry

''When you call for a meeting I would suggest for you to keep time...'' Said Priya who walked back in from the pool area as well as Bebe

''What is happening right now'' He finally managed to say his eyes back on Ishita, something that didn't go unnoticed by Shagun and Simmi

''Oh honey... He is being shy...'' Said Shagun as she got up walking to where Raman was

She slid her hand around his arms as she pulled him in turning to Ishita as she said

''Raman and I are getting married...''

The room suddenly went quiet one could hear a pin drop. Ishita looked up for a second before she turned looking at Raman as tears filled her eyes but she couldn't quite bring herself to say anything

'I mean we have been apart for so long that we didn't think we needed to wait anymore...'' Shagun added

Priya and Mihika who were barely keeping their anger together all turned to Shagun and Raman and said

Ishita was like a daughter to her and no parent was going to sit back and watch while her child was unhappy and sad for no good reason. She walked straight standing in front of Shagun and Raman and

'SMACK...'' Off went the slap on Raman's face causing a shocked Shagun to step back but before she could fathom what was happening

There was so much confusion in the room and it took them a second or two to realize what was going on. Santosh who knew Shagun had rang up a wrong tree more than anyone understood the power Ishita's family held and she knew if Ishita were to turn around and try to hurt Raman that was it. It would spell the end for him.

Simmi who thought she had this under control realized she may have planned this out all wrong. Her aim was to confuse her brother and make him concerned with other things as she took over RKB Fashions but that plan only worked if RKB Fashions kept its place in the market and it was doing well, if was the only way it would be beneficial to her.

The problem was after the web launch a lot of it depended on the Alt and Iyer Technologies and Ishita was at the center of it all. Simmi knew Ishita would not hurt Raman but the people around her would have no trouble funding it for her and that freaked her out a little.

'Raman... Raman '' Romi called him

'Snap out of it and go talk to her...'' He added causing Rana to turn like a zombie and ran after her

'Ishita... Ishita '' He called

'Raman wait...'' Shagun called him but Romi held her back

'I do not know what the f**k you were thinking or what the hell is going on to who the hell you are but for your own sake, stay out of this...'' Said Romi

'Who are you?'' Santosh asked looking at Shagun

'No... If you were, you would have known, RKB Fashions was Shagun and she would have done anything to protect it. You just pretty much destroyed it...'' Said Santosh

'I was just fighting for what was mine...'' Said Shagun pretending to cry

Raman ran out shortly after as Ishita's car drove off and he knew if she left with that misunderstanding there was no coming back from it. He ran back inside completely oblivious to the watching eyes of his children and grabbed his car keys and run out.

Ishita looked outside staring at him for a while before she finally grabbed her phone and called him

'Hello... Hello... Ishita please listen...'' He said but Ishita in a calm low tone voice said

'I was too easy when it came to you...'' And Raman's heart sunk to his knees
