It won't be wrong to call them 'the clear winners' in all respects.
With full scores from the judges, appreciative comments, public votes, an elegant dancing style and so on, Aamir Ali and Sanjeeda Shaikh have won the Nach Baliye 3 battle, defeating popular contenders Rakhi Sawant and Abhishek Awasthi to bag the final trophy.
Their victory was almost certain considering they had managed to stay clear of the danger zone throughout the Nach Baliye journey, and were rewarded with immunity from elimination in form of Madhuri Dixit's 'mahavardaan' and a clean chit to enter the finals as the first Jodi. The duo also managed to steer clear of any controversy, unlike the runner-up Jodi Rakhi and Abhishek.
While Rakhi Sawant is busy bagging the media limelight with her foul cries and baseless allegations to several parties responsible for the final verdict, we caught up with the charming couple Aamir - Sanjeeda that emerged as the unabated winners of the dance reality show.
"I improved in every performance and the support from judges and audiences made it easier for me to remain confident and work harder," says Aamir Ali, who is primarily a non-dancer.
Surprisingly, at no point in the show, did his partner Sanjeeda feel that having a non-dancer partner can be harmful. "I had no idea that Aamir was such a hard working person. I saw him rehearing the dance steps so religiously. Having seen him practicing so rigorously, I banished all the fears from my mind," shares Sanjeeda, laughing that she was the lazy one as far as rehearsals were concerned.
Moreover, there wasn't a single moment in the show when this Jodi saw a downfall in their judges' scores or public voting and this inspired them to strive harder and remain at the top.
"I remember, only once the judges said that I was going down in my performance but that didn't let me feel low; rather we put in our best to comeback in form and meet judges' expectations in the next episode itself," recalls Ali.
Though their elegant dancing style has always set its own standards on the show, the couple believes that all Jodis were great performers. "All contestants were so good dancers and it was a tough fight throughout. We also did very hard work and after two episodes only, nobody could say that I am a non-dancer because I showed a tremendous growth. But I would like to share that I can dance only that much and not beyond that," laughs Ali.
So what really made success come their way? "I think the growth and simplicity is what the audiences liked about us. With every episode we kept learning, put more efforts, grew and finally we won," smiles the winning Jodi.
Being television faces does help to get more public votes and this Jodi has no qualms to accept their fame and popularity as a major factor for their victory. Ali asserts, "We are television faces, so audiences would surely have a soft corner for us. But we enjoyed this show being Aamir and Sanjeeda and not the characters that we play on television."
Agrees Sanjeeda, "Being on television, we have developed a connection with our regular audiences so it does play an important role, but we never let this overrule our mind. We kept working hard and got what we deserved."
Recollecting the joys and anxiety just before the final result was announced, Ali shares, "I was so excited as if I was going as the opening batsman in an international cricket match. Frankly I was enjoying the whole atmosphere of excitement mixed with anxiety. And when finally I got the trophy, it seemed like 1983 and I had the World Cup in my hand."
He went on to say, "Sanjeeda was equally excited but we both were showing it in different ways. While I was talking to lot of people, she preferred to stay quiet and refused to talk to me even."
"I was standing with my eyes close and the moment our name was announced, which I was hoping to be, it was a different feeling altogether. I had never faced such a feeling before in my life. I just can't put it across words, as the high of success is still not sinking in," shares Sanjeeda.
While the couple celebrates their well-deserved victory, they cannot help but share the moments when they just knew they would make it.
"When a dancing diva like Madhuri chose us to be the best dancing couple, I got a feeling that we have a strong chance to win. Also, when things like reaching the top four and becoming the first finalist Jodi happened, my expectations certainly increased. Though I managed to calm myself and concentrate on my rehearsals but somewhere in my heart I got that feeling that everything is going in our favour," maintains Ali.
It might be 'all's well that ends well' for this winning Jodi but we've certainly not heard the last from the duos of this reality show. Will controversy queen Rakhi Sawant have the last word? We'll just have to watch and watch.
