I've been wanting to write about how problematic YVR is when it comes to their male leads and their abusive behaviour. With Kartik, I wonder at times if I would have liked him as much as I do if I had not seen the first track with young Survi. He was so kind, sweet and caring, and was completely different from the run-of-the-mill male leads in indian tv shows...
YVR1 had moments of Kartik exhibit extreme emotional and physical abuse towards Survi, damaging his character in the process... and the worst part was that Survi went with it b/c she saw Kartik as a victim of Taayi's doings, and loved him that much 😕... Which is why I loved Survi's character development in the KarViShi track... because, we were able to see her finally confront Kartik with what I presume to be a level of strength that Kartik felt intimidated by. Sonal did a lovely job portraying Survi at that stage too, made me love her as an actress even more... and then Taayi came in revealing all, sending Survi back to her overdramatic "superwoman" avatar while forgiving Kartik 😔
I don't understand if the abusive behaviour of the male leads, especially towards the female leads is a way of bringing in trps.. if so that is very 👎🏼
If you feel as if the level of abuse in the show is taking a toll on you, leave it...best to put yourself first... this love/hate thing is sometimes taken too far in shows ...
