Chapter 9:

Anika POV

When I woke up, I saw Dhruv Bhaiya and Jeevika Bhabhi standing next to me.

"Bhabhi, Paani?"

She quickly brought me a cup of water. Then suddenly Shivaay walked through the door.

"Anika, are you okay?" He said.

What was he doing here? Oh yeah. He had come and accused me of being a Raichand. That was it, I am done being a doormat. Somewhere in the past 10 years with him, I had lost myself. I had become a ghost of myself.

Enough was enough.

He came up to me and held my hand. I pulled my hand out.

"Stay away from me, Mr. Shivaay Singh Oberoi." I hissed.

Shivaay looked shocked. "Anika, I..." He trailed off.

"You are happy that I am a Raichand? That I have Khoon-Khandhan? That I am not that middle-class girl that was your wedding planner. Well, I am not. I am Anika Raichand. Heir to every thing you see. Rajkumari"

He stepped back. "Anika, I thought..."

Suddenly, months flashed by. The boyfriends comments. The annoyed expressions. Suddenly, it dawned on me what he had thought.

"You are so disgusting Shivaay Singh Oberoi. But what can I expect from the Oberois? You guys always mess up things."

Suddenly, Ishita walked in with a maid. "Oh and here comes the girlfriend or should I say Soutan?"

I was on a rant.

"Anika, she is not my girlfriend." I paused for a minute.

"Yeah right. And Nia is not your daughter."

Shivaay looked grief-stricken. "Yeah. We adopted her. You and me."

Yeah right. I remembered the day he came with the forms and forced me to sign them.

"You mean you made me. Then who is Nia?"

Ishita looked like she was going to say something. "My niece."

Oh wow. "Niece and daughter?" I smirked.

Ishita spoke up. "No Bhabhi, when Bhiaya found me, Nishant had died. Nia was too small and I travelled too much. Sooo..."

Dhruv and Jeevika were standing near the door.

"Anika, I misunderstood you." Shivaay said.

"For 5 years?" I walked over to him. "Mr. Shivaay Singh Oberoi, I am heir to a business empire and a kingdom. I will never be crushed again. I should have taken a stand when you first brought Ishita and Nia but I did not. I was too blinded by my love. I was foolish. Not anymore. I want you out of my house and my life."

"Meenu Maasi, please show Mr. and Mrs. Oberoi out of the house."

Ishita tried to come up to me.

"Anika Bhabhi, Bhaiya was wrong but please don't punish him like that. I beg you."

I felt bad for the poor girl. "Ishita, I am sorry but I have to let your brother go. I will send the divorce papers soon."

I turned my back and prayed that Shivaay would come and apologised.

"Bhabhi..." Ishita started.

"Ishita, we oberois, never beg. Come." With that he walked out and I collapsed. Dhruv came running up to me.

"Jeevika, go stop him." he said.

I held Jeevika's hand. "No Bhabhi, sometimes the best thing to do is let go. Bhaiya, call the lawyer, I will send him the paper as soon as possible."

Dhruv held my shoulder. "Chutki, you will regret it. Don't do it. Your baby needs a father."

I shook my head and tried to wipe my tears. "No Bhaiya, I looked after Sahil. I am sure i can look after my baby as well."

I prayed he would not sign it.

Shivaay POV

2 days had passed. We had come back home. Ishita had been begging me to apologise to Anika. The rest of the family did not know yet.

"Sir, you have some parcels. It is from Raichands."

My secretary left the parcel on my table.

Dear Mr. Shivaay,

I hope you never contact me again. Under any circumstance. Here are the divorce papers. If you want to sign them, you may. I really don't care. It is your problem not mine. Don't worry about the child, it will not have to see a world without a father figure.

It pained me to see the letter. She had aborted the child. She had dropped my name.

I threw the envelope across the room. I never wanted to see her again.

Author's Note: For me the funniest and difficult part is when I read your comments and I have chapters already written and things are not exactly cleared. I worry whether I am stretching it. Thanks for liking Anika's Surname. It just popped into my mind and I felt it fit perfectly.

Chapter 10:

6 years later.

Omkara POV

"Bhai, do you have any idea what happened between Anika di and Bhai.. She just walked out and Bhai did not even say anything." Rudra whispered as we watched. Shivaay getting his breakfast ready.

"I think he did something really wrong. The other day, I saw Anika at an event. She was with the Dhruv Raichand. She acted like she did not even see me. When I went to her. She introduced herself like we had never met." I said.

"Are you talking about Anika? She works under the Raichands now. I applied to her office as a secretary. I have my interview today afternoon." Ishana said. She and Soumya walked into the room. We nodded.

Rudra looked at Soumya. "Did my little monster sleep?"

Soumya nodded. "After so much time. Rudra tomorrow you put Lakshya to sleep." She grumbled. Their little one had made Soumya loose so much weight. She looks nothing like her former self.

"You should eat more." Soumya looked at me and glared.

"Bade Bhaal wale Bhaiya, you should say that to your brother." I looked back at Shivaay. He was throwing what he had made.

"Shivaay..." He looked up. His so-called Kanji akaien no longer had the shrewdness or happiness.

"Today, Ishita is coming, She is going to be staying with us."

Why? Why would she come here? She is not an oberoi?

Suddenly, Pia came down stairs. She had changed so much even with me and Ishana trying so much to let her be a child. Anika leaving had taken a heavy toll on her.

"Om Chachu, will you drop me at Mom's house?"

Megha had come out of the coma. It had been a huge moment of happiness until Ishana called home and found out Anika had left the house. Pia had been devastated on hearing that she was not Meghan's happiest moment. But Megha had been quick to accept her. Shivaay had signed all the documents to transfer parental rights but without Anika the process could not be completed.

"Pia, I can take you." Shivaay said.

"It's okay, Mr. Oberoi." Pia had become me.

Rudra went to her. "Come Pia, I will take you."

Shivaay looked as she walked away like some lost puppy. Then his stone-face mask came into place.

What had happened between the two?

Ishana POV

Walking into the Raichands' office was like walking into a fortress.

"Ms. Ishana?" The receptionist asked. I nodded.

"Three rooms down."

I walked down the hall. I was about to knock.

"Anika, he has the right to know. I am tired of watching you suffer like this. They have the right to know."

Anika was standing facing the window. "Dhruv, I will not. And don't you dare."

Dhruv got up and walked towards her. Then what they spoke was muffled. Finally, I saw Dhruv walk away from her.

"She is not well. She needs her mama. Now you go, let me take the interview. She is coming. Call Jeevika and check on Priya and Ansh." Anika said.

Dhruv looked frustrated. "I am tired off you and your stubbornness."

He opened the door. "Are you here for the interview?" He asked.

I nodded. "Give her a minute." He said and walked to his cabin.

I walked in after sometime. Anika was still looking out of the window.

"Ma'am?"

When she turned around her eyes went wide.

"Ishana?"

But I almost fainted when I saw the child sleeping in her arms. "Is that...?"

She interrupted me. "Welcome Mrs. Oberoi. You are here for the interview to be my secretary."

She sat down and asked me a couple of work related questions.

"Okay, the HR will let you know of the results." She said.

"Anika? What is her name?"

Finally, her mask fell. "Shivani"

"Why didn't he tell us?"

Her face fell. "It is not his child."

No...that can't be true. She can't cheat on him. She loved him. Suddenly, the child opened her eyes. This solved all my problems. "Anika, why are you lying?"

Anika looked up at me. "Ishana, I told you she is my child."

Suddenly, Dhruv walked in. "Anika, Ansh wants to talk to you." He paused when he saw me there. "Oh, I am so sorry."

Anika shook her head. "It is ok. Give me the phone."

She put the phone on speaker. "Mama..."then the voice started shouting and screaming. "Bua, Ansh is pulling my hair." The voice came through.

"Ansh, behave yourself. Don't pull Priya's hair. Mama is getting angry." Suddenly, all the sound died. "Sowy, Mama." Then the call got cut. She passed the phone back to Dhruv.

"Dhruv, tell her to tell Shivaay." I pleaded him.

Dhruv stopped at the door.

"Ishana, if you want you can keep in touch but please keep him away." Anika said. "Bhaiya, show her out. I am taking Shivani to the doctor. I will go home after that."

Soumya POV

Ishana burst into my room.

"Anika..." She started huffing. She looked like she ran all the way.

"What happened, Di?"

She was always a drama queen.

"I met Shivani." Shivani? Who? I looked at her puzzled.

"Anika and Shivaay's child" I hears a gasp and a jug drop. When Anika turned around, there was Pinky Chachi. Ma and Chachi had just arrived in the morning after everyone left. They had come to visit us after 3 years of stay in Paris and then 3 years of world tour. Papa and Chachu had gone to visit Daadi at the Aashram.

"Oh my mata, Anika yahan nahi hai. Lekin tum logo ne to kuch nahi bataye."

"Woh Chachi, Shivaay ne..."

The main door opened. "Chachi, Shivaay ko mat batiye. Anika ne kaha ki agar use pata chala toh voh yahan se chale jayenge."

Pinky chachi wiped her tears and went to her room..

"I wonder how her interview went." We heard Omkara speaking.

"I am sure Bhabhi would have got the job." Rudra replied.

I walked down with Ishana. Chachi went to her room.

"Rudra, did you buy Lakshya's medicines?"

Rudra looked like a deer caught in the headlights. "Soumya, don't worry I messaged Shivaay to pick it up. I knew he would forget." Omkara replied.

Chapter 11:

Shivaay POV

Stupid Rudra. Always forgetting to get the medicines. Ishita was sitting in the car.

Walking into the clinic, I walked to the counter."Ma'am, I need this medicine. It is for Lakshya Oberoi." I handed the nurse the prescription.

"Sir, please take a seat. I will get it ready for you."

I walked to the waiting area. There was a little girl sitting there. She was playing with her doll.

There was a seat next to her apart from that the clinic was busy. There was a girl walked up to her.

"Shivani, your mama said she will come soon. She has an urgent meeting."

The little girl looked up. "Radha Didi, choco." The girl who was around 18 looked stressed.

"Shivi, I asked your mom. She said no. She said you are not well."

The little girl looked angry. "Shivi want choco."

The girl gave an exasperated sigh and walked towards the sweet shop.

I don't know why but I was drawn to her. "Hi Princess..." She looked up at me. I faltered a bit, she had my same eyes and glare. "Aap kaun ho? Mama kehti hai ki strangers bohot bure hote hain." She spoke really fluently for a 6 year old and that too in 2 languages. "Especially Kanji Akhon Wale Bhagad Billon se."

This sentence shocked me. I only knew one person who would talk like that. "Princess..."

"Shivi...the car is here. Your mom will scold me if I don't drop you off at her office before going home. I have to go out also."

She smiled at me. "Thank you Sir, for entertaining her."

Before, I could say anything the nurse called me. I went to collect the medicines.

After a half an hour ride and reaching home, I knew something was not right.

When I walked in, I saw everyone in the hall. Pia and Nik were standing. Nia was sitting on a sofa. Jhanvi Chachi and Mom were sitting. Soumya and Ishana looked worried. Om and Rudra looked tensed. Ishita moved a bit behind me. Nia saw her.

"Mama?" She ran up to Ishita and hugged her."

Mom walked towards me and gave me a tight slap. "Tune mujhe nahi bataya ki tu aur Anika alag rahti hain. Ek baar bhi nahi. Now you have brought a new girl. Shivaay, you were my heera, lekin ab mujhe apni galti ki aisas ho rah hain." She was seething with anger. She left the room in a huff.

I looked at the rest of them. None of them could meet my eye. Ishita was hovering near me tensed.

"Ab yeh kaun hai, Shivaay?"

I was scared to tell them. "Badi ma, yeh Ishita hai, Bade Papa ki beti." Chachi faltered. But kept a straight face.

"Reema, Ishita ke liye ek room theyar karo."

Om and Rudra did not even bother to meet their sister, they went upstairs . Their wives followed.

Ishita followed the maid. I went to Rudra's room.

I could hear Soumya and Rudra talking. "This many years and he could not tell you about your sister. Your brother is unbearable."

Rudra was pacing about. "Sumo, he is my brother. You don't go with Ishana Bhabhi tomorrow. Bhaiya will get angry."

"You keep quit. I will go and meet my di. Ishana di got to meet her today. We are going tomorrow. Bade Bhal wale Bhaiya is also coming. If you want to be Shivaay Bhaiya's Chela. You don't come. Even Pinky aunty and mom are coming. Don't you dare go tell him now. She will go away from here." Soumya threatened.

Were they going to meet Anika?

I walked to my room.

Anika POV

"Ansh, Shivani get ready fast. You have to go to playgroup. Today is your first day."

Ansh was ready in minutes and standing near the door.

"Mama, let's go."

Meanwhile Shivani was taking hours. "Shivi, faster." Jeevika was cheering for her.

"Bhabhi, I will take the car out. Please bring her fast." Jeevika nodded.

"Ma, Priya is not going."

Beta, Priya is smaller than you. Now come."

When I opened the door, somebody came and hugged me. Ansh quickly hid behind me.

"Di, we missed you so much." Soumya was hugging me. Istana smiled at me from the back. Om, Ma and Badi Ma was also there.

"Mama..."Ansh tugged at my shawl. Ma saw Ansh peeking from behind me.

"Anika?" She looked at me expectantly. How could I keep her away from her grandchild? How had I done it? But I was nervous, they still did not know how I was related to the Raichands.

Ma was about to touch him when he ran inside.

"Aap aayie." I said.

Everyone piled in. "I will come right now." I went upstairs. Ansh was with Dhruv. He looked up at me. "They came? You want me to come?" I nodded. I wanted my brother by my side. For once, I had a family and a name. Two things I never had before when I faced the Oberois.

I climbed down the stairs. Dhruv carried Ansh. I saw Mom's face turn red.

"Raichand. Anika you lives with this peoples. Why?"

I had been expecting this. "Ma, I am a Raichand. That is why."

Mom's eyes went wide. "You married?"

"No Ma, Dhruv is my brother. I am Anika Raichand."

Mom calmed down.

"Anika, is that your son?" Jhanvi asked.

"Haan Badi Maa. This is my son Ansh Anika Raichand. Come Ansh." I took Ansh out of Dhruv's hands.

I took him to Ma and Badi ma.

He looked at them sceptically. Ma hugged him. "Looks like Shivaay except for the eyes." Badi Ma commented.

This burned me but I kept smiling.

"Mama..." Shivani shouted and ran down the stairs.

"Careful. Shvi." I shouted. Everyone looked up shocked.

"Anika, don't scold her. Bachi hain."

I was suddenly so angry. "Ma, I have to make sure my children don't become like..."

Dhruv interrupted me. "Anika, calm down. I will drop the kids. You stay at home today. Ansh, Shvi come."

He took the two of them and left.

We stared at each other awkwardly. "Bhabhi, serve them."

I walked out of the house. I opened the car and sat inside. I drove straight to my secret place.

"I should have guessed I would find you here." A voice said.

The voice I had been waiting to hear for 6 whole years. I turned around and the wall I had built over the years crumbled.

I ran to him and hugged him."All you had to do was apologise once. I needed you yet you never came. Not even once. I could not remember 10 years of my life. Were you around? No. Doctors told my brother I could die. Were you with me? No. Now you are here. If it is your family you want, they are at my home. Me? No, you will never want me."

"Anika, I am sorry." He whispered."I love you."

I felt someone shake me. "Anika, what are you doing here?" When I opened my eyes, I was staring into Maliika's eyes. Siddarth was standing next to her concerned.

My heart crumbled. It was all a dream. Just a dream.
