Arnav drove back home without saying anything to Anjali.He was totally broken. Anjali called Aman and informed about Arnav's state of mind.He tried to contact him but Arnav's phone was switched off.There was no information about him for the next two days

.Anjali and Raj came back home.All were very tensed and were waiting for him.He arrived the third day and no one except Aman and Anjali dared to ask him anything.

Anjali saw his expressionless face.

Anjali:Chote,Where were you?How worried we were.How can you do this to us?You didn't answer my calls.

Arnav:I had business to attend to.

Anjali:You are doing all this because of Khushi know?there might be a reason for Khushi's decision.

Arnav:Di..please don't speak her name in the house any more.And please don't be sympathetic to me.It's not the end of the world.

Anjali: Don't pretend to me chote,I know you well.

Arnav: I'm going to marry Reeba.She is also from my field .So can help in enhancing my business.

Everyone was shocked.

Anjali:Chote,You can't do this.

Nani: Reeba.?She is not a suitable girl for our family.How can you chote?I won't allow you.

Arnav:It's my life.I'm going to bring her here,so that she can learn more about our family and can well aquainted with our ways.

Anjali and Nani:No...Never.

Arnav:Then I'll stay away from here.

He turned around and left from the room.

Anjaly was crying and Nani sat with her.Aakash didn't say anything.Payal was looking at Raj.She wanted to say something but Raj signed her to keep quiet.

Aman went to Arnav's room.

Aman:So You are going to punish yourself by taking the most foolish decision in your life.

Arnav:It's none of your business.

Aman:Do you know what led Khushi to get engaged?

Arnav:I'm not interested.

Aman:That's your main problem,impulsive actions.Try to find out the reason.May be she doesn't like to open up to you.You know each other.That's all know?You were not that close enough .

Arnav shouted:No...No...you are wrong...

Aman was surprised at his reaction.

Aman:You mean...?

Arnav:We love each other.

Aman:Then what you are doing now is entirely wrong.Find out what happened?

Arnav:I asked her.You know where I was these past two days?I stayed in a hotel,away from home,office and I was trying talking to her through phone.She was simply crying and was not ready to answer.That means she doesn't trust me.

Aman:no..Arnav,we'll find out.Please don't even mention the name of the wretched woman Reeba.How could you?

There was a knock on the door.They saw all standing outside the door.Payal got in.

Payal:Jeejaji,I want to talk to you about Khushi.

Arnav and Aman looked at her.

Payal:Could we be seated somewhere?

All were seated inside his room.Arnav stood near his dressing tadle leaning on it.

Payal:You are angry with Khushi know?Khushi was not at all a gloomy,unhappy girl earlier.She is of my same age and since her parents died when she was just 3 years old,,she was looked after by her maternal aunt and her husband.They had a daughter of our age,Mili.

Payal got up and stood near the window looking at them.All were listening intently.

Payal continued:Myself,Khushi and Mili were very close.But I lived with my parents in Delhi.My mother is Khushi's uncle's sister.We met only on occasions and holidays.Vinod and Vishaal lived with their parents nearby Khushi's uncle's house.We were not relatives but were like a family.Raj was studying abroad.So he could rarely join us.Vishaal always quarrelled with Khushi.Khushi was very chirpy,innocent and loved by all. Khushi was the pet of her uncle and aunt and her neighbours.

Khushi and Mili dressed in the same way.Mili's parents purchased similar things for both of them.Two years back,On the 20^th birthday Of Khushi,Mili presented her a very beautiful anklet which Khushi loved more than anything else in her life.She could be identified with its pleasant sound whenever she was around.

One day Vishaal's mother discussed marriage with Khushi's aunt.They wanted him to marry Mili and Vinod to marry khushi later.Khushi knew that Mili very much loved Vishaal.So Khushi was very happy. But Vishaal shocked everyone by saying that he loved Khushi.Mili couldn't take it.

Payal choked up.She couldn't continue.Tears started rolling down and Aakash at once came to her side.

Evereyone was anxious and Anjaly also came near Payal.Raj continued from where Payal stopped.

Raj:Mili committed suicide.

Everyone except Arnav:Oh my God...

Arnav :What?

Raj:Yes...I was on my vacation and I can never forget the tragic moments.Mili's mother was almost mad .Khushi fell unconscious and when she regained consciousness ,she didn't even cry.She was simply staring at all.She didn't speak,eat .Then happened the worst thing. Mili's mother cursed her infront of all the people who were there for the funeral.She said that Khushi snatched her daughter's love and she would never have a happy married life. Khushi didn't say anything,didn't even cry .

She underwent pshychiatric treatment and by the time she recovered Vishaal had already met with an accident and was bedridden. Both the families considered her as a curse. She removed her anklet from her legs and that day onwards Khushi was a totally different person.My father decided to bring her home.We never discussed all these in our family.

Arnav had tears in his eyes.

Aakash asked:But why then she is going to marry Vinod?

Raj:She is not going to marry Vinod but Vishaal who is bedridden.She is going to compensate with her sacrifice.

I called Vinod.He said that it was her uncle who put forward the idea and Khushi thinks that it's her duty to obey them.She thinks that she is responsible for all the tragedy,so willing to accept such a life.

Arnav left the room without saying a single word.

He returned only in the night.Anjaly was waiting for him.She touched his shoulder.He cried like a small child.
