They reached Khushi's uncle's house early morning.Khushi pressed the bell and they waited.A middle aged lady opened the door.She stared at Khushi and Arnav and asked her:Who is this?

Khushi was embarrassed and said:This is Mr.Raizada,Payal's jeejaji. Mr.Raizada,this is Vinod's mother Rukmini aunty. My aunt Madhumathi's friend.

They heard a woman's voice from inside the house:Rukmini,who is there?

Rukmini went inside and came back followed by a man.

Khushi:Uncle,this is Payal's jeejaji.Arnavji,this is my uncle.

The man looked at Arnav critically.The whole situation was embarrassing to Arnav.

Madhumathi was shouting:Khushi..come here.

Arnav and Khushi went inside.Arnav saw a lady lying on a cot .She was very thin but looked very strong. She stared at Arnav and said to Khushi:I want to talk to you alone. At that moment Vinod rushed to that room.He said:hello,Mr.Raizada,happy to meet you.How did you manage to reach here in this adverse climate?

Arnav didn't answer.Instead he said:I'll wait outside.

Vinod detected something wrong and followed Arnav.

Vinod:Did my mother say anything adverse?

Arnav: Forget it. Are you residing here?

Vinod:No,nearby house.Me and Khushi are childhood friends and cousins.

Arnav:Ok,Anyway I'm leaving.Can you please call Khushi?

Vinod:Please come to my house,have some food and after that you can leave.

Arnav:No,I want to reach my office in Lucknow.

Vinod went and came back with Khushi.

Arnav understood that she was crying.Her eyes and nose were red.Arnav was very disturbed.

Arnav:Khushi,I'm leaving,I'll call you later.Bye.A very irritated,annoyed,disturbed Arnav left the place.

Arnav was trying to contact Khushi since he reached Lucknow.She didn't answer.He was tensed.She called back at night.

Arnav:Khushi..are you ok?

Khushi didn't answer.He asked again.He understood that she was crying.Arnav:Khushi..answer me...

Khushi answered in between tears:Arnavji...I..I want to see you...want to be..with you.

Arnav:I..I..I love you Khushi...don't cry..please come back fast..I'm waiting for you.

Arnav returned to Delhi and both of them contacted through phone daily several times. He decided to talk to his family.He waited for Aakash to return.On his return from honeymoon, Arnav called all the family members to the living room and mentioned his desire and willingness to marry Khushi.Nani,Anjali and Aakash hugged him and were shrieking with joy.

Anjaly:At last chote,at last you agreed.Oh my god,thank you for accepting my prayers.

Raj and Payal didn't respond.They were looking at each other.They were silent.

Anjaly:Why Raj,you are not happy?

Raj didn't reply but Payal asked:Jeejaji,did Khushi agree for marriage?

Arnav:No..we like each other,,but she didn't give me a reply.

Nani: I'll talk to her guardians.

Raj and Payal didn't say anything further.But Arnav doubted something wrong.

Arnav tried to contact Khushi at night.But she didn't answer.He was worried.He tried next day morning.He also texted.She didn't respond.He wanted to talk to her.He was desperate.

There was no response from her the whole day.He discussed the matter with Raj and Payal.They also tried but in vain.They tried in Vinod's number.It was switched off.Arnav was mad with anger and was very worried.Two days passed by.Raj received a call from his parents that they were returning home as his sister's in-laws were coming to take care of them.

Raj and Anjaly went to Raj's house in the weekend.Arnav decided to go to Lucknow to meet Khushi.He could not concentrate in his work and Aman was on business tour most of the time.Arnav called Aman and asked him to come back to office.Aakash,Nani and Anjaly were very worried to see a very sad and depressed Arnav.

On a Sunday evening Arnav got a call from Anjaly.She sounded very down.

Anjaly: Chote,Khushi came today .She is here.

Arnav:Why Di,you sound very worried.

Anjaly kept quiet.

Arnav:Di..Please .what is wrong?

Anjaly:You please come here Arnav and then she cut the phone.

Arnav drove off to Raj's house then itself.His heart was beating faster,hands were shaky,mind was not steady..he drove on.

He reached Raj's house and a worried Anjali opened the door.

Arnav:What happened?Where is she?

Anjali had tears in her eyes.She pointed upstairs.Arnav reached upstairs by running through the steps.He saw her sitting at the end of the long corridor looking outside.Arnav was stopped in his track and silently observed her.Then he walked towards her.He reached her side and called :Khushi...She turned her head and looked at him.Her eyes were expressionless.

Arnav:khushi,why didn't you answer my calls?what happened?

He repeated the question.She didn't answer.He shook her and asked angrily:Khushi..Please say something dammit

She simply stared at him.

Arnav:So..You are not ready to answer..ok..I won't disturb you anymore.I'm leaving.

Still she didn't answer.But stretched her left hand to him.He saw a ring with the letter V on it. Arnav looked at her questioningly.Now there was tears in her eyes.

Arnav asked .His voice was like a whisper:Are you engaged?

She nodded her head and turned and ran to a room and slammed the door.

Arnav shouted:No... He stood there and felt the whole area revolving around him.He stood there for sometime staring on the floor and stood up,his lips and jaw tightened,eyes red with anger.He knocked on the door and opened it.She was lying on the bed.He went near ,took her right hand and made her stand up in front of him.

His voice was like a whip:So..you were playing a drama with me know?

Khushi was crying bitterly.

Arnav shouted:Answer me,Khushi...

She collapsed on the floor.He looked at her for a moment and left the room.
