PART 11

Arnav was too astonished to respond at first. Khushi hugged him tightly and shut her eyes.Arnav's hands slowly encircled her. The room was in complete darkness. Arnav hugged her .He whispered: Khushi...An uncontrollable desire was aroused in both of them.She tried to withdraw but he gave her a bone breaking hug and his lips sought hers .It was her first kiss.Khushi was shocked and her whole body quivered,a fire was ignited in them,the kiss became hard,his lips were hungrily moving to her eyes,her cheeks...he murmured: Khushi...His lips came down to her neck.Khushi was standing in his arms weak and forgetting the surroundings,her body was shivering with desire.His hands moved to her breasts,touched the nipple,a moan escaped her.

Suddenly they heard a knock at the door. Both were shocked and became alert.The knock continued.Khushi couldn't walk.Arnav went to the door and opened it.The lady of the inn was standing with a small lamp and a few candles.Arnav took it and thanked her.He closed the door.He lighted the candle and kept it on the table.He saw Khushi sitting at the corner of the room crying.He went near her and asked:Why Khushi,what happened?He helped her to get up.

Khushi:Arnavji,we were going to do something wrong,terribly wrong.

Arnav:What is wrong with you Khushi?We like each other.So what is wrong in that?

Khushi:No,Arnavji,never..please don't ask me anything...It should never happen...

Arnav:What is wrong with you dammit?I intend to spend my life with you.

Khushi:No...No...

Arnav:I don't believe in marriage,but I ve started to give a thought about it.

Khushi:It will never happen.

Arnav:I'm losing my patience Khushi...

Khushi: I ..can't Arnavji..please.My aunt will kill me for spending the night with you.She won't believe me.

Arnav was too angry and stood there with clenched fist. He sat on the bed and shut his eyes.

Khushi rose to her feet and sat beside him on the bed.

Khushi: Arnavji...I like you very much...

Arnav: Then, why do you hesitate to accept me?

Khushi: I can't say anything..

Arnav: Why?

Khushi: Please...let us sleep and forget everything..

Arnav:You are cruel Khushi..I have never been talking intimately with any other woman in my life...you don't trust me..I know ,otherwise you would have confided in me...

Khushi stood up and walked to the window.She opened it giving way for the cold wind to enter the room. The rain was somewhat subsided followed by small drizzles.She stood there staring into the darkness.Arnav went and stood behind her.

Khushi said without turning around:Arnavji..I'm a cursed woman..

Arnav:Cursed?

Khushi:Yes...Please don't ask me anything else.I don't want you to suffer in my name..please..She walked towards the bed and sat down.

Khushi:Please come and sleep.We've to continue the journey know?

Arnav sat on the small sofa and stretched his legs on the teapoy infront of him. He sat there for a long time watching her sleeping .He closed his eyes and was feeling very annoyed with her.

He woke up when he heard heavy showers falling on the roof and to his surprise he saw Khushi coming and sitting very close to him,watching him..He held his breath and waited. She sat in the little space available and rested her head on his shoulder.The room was very cool and her body was very warm.She was looking into his face.He pretended to be asleep.He felt her lips on his.He was too astonished but was thrilled.Then she laid her head on his chest and her hands encircled his waist.He looked at her beautiful face.He realized then that he loved her and she loved him too..He didn't disturb her,instead sat still.After some time he hugged her and went to sleep.He was feeling very happy and content and he said to himself:I'll find out the reason for her sadness and fear and will find out the solution.I'll marry her as soon as possible.

Khushi woke up to see her comfortably lying in the hands of Arnav.She remembered what happened in the previous night. She woke up in between her sleep and saw him sleeping on the small sofa .She was afraid of darkness,thunder and lightening.She got up and without making noise went near him.She thought that he was in deep sleep. She could not resist herself.So hugged him,rested her head on his chest and kissed him. .She felt very safe and secure .

In the morning she woke up to see him staring at her face.She tried to get up but he pulled her roughly to him and kissed her hard on her lips. They were caught in a rapture and didn't want to escape from it.But Khushi managed to free herself and stood up.

Arnav:Khushi...Will you marry me?

Khushi's face changed.He saw fear on her face.She said:no...No..never...

Arnav shook her and asked:What's wrong with you?Don't make me crazy.

She burst into tears and Arnav stepped back .

He soon composed himself and said:Ok..Khushi..I'm ready to wait..Take your own time..Then he hugged her.

They continued their journey and reached her aunt's house.
