This is yet another Worst Awards. This time it is from buzz18.com
Worst Film of 2007 - Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag
Ramu's take on the all-time classic totally defied logic. A tenuous script, shoddy casting and an indifferent treatment were just some of this film's major flaws. Even Bachchan could not save this film and RGV's market value as a filmmaker crashed faster than the stock market.
Worst Director of 2007 - Sanjay Leela Bhansali: Saawariya
A film which is set in nowhere land, characters who speak in strange accents. They could be either from the 6th century, or the 12th. Everything is blue, including the mood in the auditorium. Salman looks like a beast-of-burden as he lugs around a huge black rucksack. That's Saawariya in a nutshell. Bhansali claimed it was his tribute to Raj Kapoor. Thankfully for him the showman is no more and Bhansali can remain a free man.
Worst Actor of 2007 - Abhishek Bachchan: Jhoom Barabar Jhoom
Abhishek Bachchan in one of his worst films. His attempt at mimicking his father's inimitable dialogue delivery bombed badly. Also, his OTT styling and constant hamming sent the audience scurrying out of the theatres. Unfortunately for Junior B, even Bobby Deol stole a lead over him.
Worst Actress of 2007 --Preity Zinta: Jhoom Barabar Jhoom
The other half of JBJ's lead pair, Preity Zinta looked perpetually tired in the film. It looked like she was going through the motions because it was a Yash Raj film, but beyond that the film/story/co-star was of no relevance to her. Pity because Abhishek and she do share good onscreen chemistry.
Worst Debut (Male) of 2007 -Himesh Reshammiya: Aap Kaa Surroor
This film may have set the cash registers ringing, but Himeshbhai's dialogue delivery (in a Gujju accent) does tend to assault your ears. Given his limited range of acting abilities and dancing skills, this popular music director would be better off sticking to composing.
Worst Debut (Female) of 2007-Hannsika Motwani: Aap Kaa Surroor
This child star-turned-actress could have done better. But unfortunately, with a co-star intent on hogging the better camera angles and dialogues, she was left floundering. A little effort to shed weight might also help if she wants to stand a chance against Sonam and Deepika.
Worst Music of 2007-Shantanu Moitra: Laaga Chunari Mein Daag
Aditya Chopra, Pradeep Sarkar, Rani Mukerji, Jaya Bachchan, Konkona Sen Sharma and Abhishek Bachchan. Given the names associated with it, LCMD was a big project and deserved a classic soundtrack. But Shantanu Moitra who has consistently dished out hummable tunes in Parineeta, Lage Raho Munnabhai, Khoya Khoya Chand and so on did a half hearted job on this one. None of the songs registered with fans who were expecting something unconventional. Even Shubha Mudgal's rendition of the classic title track failed to make any impact.
Worst Lyrics of 2007-Javed Akhtar : Dard E Disco (Om Shanti Om)
No matter how many thousands of CDs get sold for Om Shanti Om or even the millions Javed Akhtar was paid to write nonsensical lyrics, we have greater expectations from this respected Urdu poet. And even if this number wins 'n' number of awards for us, it's still a blot on his illustrious career. A word of advice: Leave the disco and khisko to the lesser mortals of the world. There are some things one shouldn't do even for close family.
Worst Choreography of 2007-Vaibhavi Merchant: Aaja Nachle
Considering it was Madhuri's comeback film, the choreography in Aaja Nachle was way below the mark. Most of the steps looked like poor cousins of Madhuri's earlier hits and the fans were simply not impressed. In fact, the lacklustre dances in a film about dancing were perhaps the film's biggest undoing at the box office.
Biggest Setback of 2007- Sudhir Mishra: Khoya Khoya Chand
It took him 20 years to make Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi. And we thought here was a filmmaker who would continue to deliver gems. But Khoya Khoya Chand or Soya Soya Chand as it has been labeled was a sure cure for insomnia. The story line was vague, characters were inconsistent and at many places the film had a documentary feel to it. On the whole this hyped drama on Bollywood in the '50s failed to grip audiences.
Worst Comedy of 2007 - Buddha Mar Gaya
This so-called comedy with it's crass humour, vulgar jokes, and over-the-top gags did not find any favour with the audience and it sank without a trace. Pity, considering Rahul Rawail is the man who gave us Betaab and Arjun.
