PART 5

Arnav stood there till she disappeared from sight.He went to his room,closed the door and lied down on the bed.He shut his eyes and tried to control his emotions.He wanted to talk to her desperately. He felt awkward on his sudden impulsive approach to her.What urged him to kiss her?He felt ashamed of himself.

He thought:Why I'm feeling this way?No..I have to find a way to escape from this torture...I won't think about her..anyway she is nobody to me.she doesn't like my presence.

He wanted to divert his attention..his thoughts..He called Riya and told that he would be coming to pick her in the evening.she was thrilled.

Arnav went back to office determined.But his mind was disturbed.In the evening a man came to meet him.His name was Vinod.

Vinod introduced himself as Payal's cousin.He said that he was looking for Raizada mansion but couldn't find it.Some one directed him to AR office.Arnav asked the reason for his visit. He wanted to meet Khushi and Payal.Aakash and Arnav took him home.Payal was not that happy to meet him.Khushi was in her room and was called to the living room. She was very disturbed when she saw him.Both Arnav and Aakash noticed it.

Both asked about him to Payal when he left.

Payal:He is a distant cousin.He just wanted to give a visit to us.

Arnav was not satisfied with the answer.He looked at Khushi.She was busy making the arrangements for the evening pooja.Her face was very pale.He saw tears in her eyes.It disturbed him.

Arnav's mobile buzzed.It was Riya.She called him several times but he didn't answer.Then she tried in the landline.It was Khushi who answered the call.

Riya:Who are You?

Khushi:I'm Khushi.

Riya:What is your connection to Arnav's family?

Khushi:May I know who are you?

Riya:I'm Arnav's friend.

Khushi:Ok..I'll call him.Please hold on..

Khushi handed over the phone to Arnav.

Arnav went out with Riya but he was not listening to what she was saying..Instead a tear filled eyes was often disturbing him.He wanted to go home.Riya was too angry and annoyed.

She asked him about Khushi.

Anjali and Raj came for the weekend and Nani arranged a special pooja for both the couples.Khushi and Payal helped Nani and Hariprakash in making the arrangements.Throughout the pooja,Arnav was standing in a corner and observing Khushi.Nani whispered something in Anjali's ear and she looked at Arnav and Khushi and gave a mischievous smile to Nani.

The pooja was over, panditji left and all retired to their rooms .Khushi was cleaning and rearranging the poojaroom. Anjali and Payal offered help but she asked them to take rest.Arnav went to his room but he wanted to talk to her. He came down and saw Khushi still doing the cleaning.

He called:Khushi..I want to talk to you. She lost her concentration and the hot oil fell on ther leg.She sat on the floor and was trying to control the pain. Arnav took the tissue and tried to wipe out the oil.She pushed his hands away and shut her eyes and was trying to control the pain.He helped her to sit on a chair.

He hurried to get the medicine from first aid box .He took the ointment and began to apply it on her leg.She tried to move.He strongly held her hands with his left hand and with right hand he applied the ointment .He was sitting down and while applying the ointment she was looking intently at him.Tears began to roll down her eyes.It fell on his hands.He suddenly looked up.

He asked:Why..what happened?

Khushi didn't answer.

Arnav:Khushi,why are you always sad and quiet?

Khushi tried to get up.

Arnav helped her to rise and while helping she had to lean on Arnav.They looked at each other.Arnav whispered:Khushi...They stood still staring at each other.The sound of a door closing brought them back to their senses.

Arnav :Shall I carry you to your room?

Khushi kept silent.Arnav lifted her in his arms and moved to her room.Khushi circled her hands around his neck and was looking at his face.Anjali and Nani were secretly watching them.They looked at each other.Both went inside Nani's room.

Nani:Anjali,we have to fix their marriage as soon as possible.

Anjali:But Raj's parents have to return know?And Nani..we don't know whether Arnav is ready to marry her? And we also don't know Khushi's opinion.Let us wait Nani.It's only a month since they know each other.

Nani:Khushi told me that she is coming back with you.

Anjali:Anyway she can't stay back here unconditionally.So let her come back with me.So that we would know both of their reaction and response.

Nani:Exactly.

In Khushi's room,Arnav made her sit on a couch.Their eyes met.

Arnav:Khushi...If ...you want ..any help..just call me.

Take care Khushi.

He turned around and left. Tears were rolling down her cheeks. She recalled what happened during the pooja and after that.She knew that he was constantly looking at her..His words,his voice...was doing something to her.Her hands went to her cheeks.She remembered his kiss.Now She didn't feel it awkward.But suddenly she remembered something and closed her eyes.No...It shouldn't happen.

Khushi got ready to leave with Anjali and Raj.It was only that morning Arnav became aware that she was leaving. He was annoyed and asked Raj:Raj..I think better all of you stay here...It's easy for you to go to office know?

Raj:You're right Arnav,but let my parents come back.

Khushi said bye to all.She didn't say a single word to him.It was when she got inside the car that she looked at him and saw him staring at her.

Nani said a few minutes after she left: She is a very good girl,a good human being,the person who is going to marry her is lucky.

Payal :Yes Nani...but she doesn't want to marry

Arnav sharpened his ears.

Nani:Why?

Payal:I don't know Nani but she doesn't agree for marriage.

Nani:So Chote,she's like you.

Arnav was embarrassed.He went to his room.His mind was restless.

The calling bell rang.Aman enetered.He came straight to Arnav's room.

Aman:I'm back yaaar...he hugged Arnav.

Arnav:How was your journey?

Aman:Nice trip...Arnav..why do you look down?Anything wrong?

Arnav:Nothing..why?

Aman:You look depressed...ok forget it..I heard that Anjali and Raj just left.

Arnav:Yes..

Aman:Your living room is nicely set with fresh flowers.Who has done that?And I could see decorated corridors with handicrafts.Who has done it?

Arnav:khushi..

Aman:Khushi..Payal's cousin

Arnav:Yeah

Aman:She was living here?

Arnav:Yes..come on tell me about yourself

Aman:Why are you changing the topic?Tell me about Khushi

Arnav:What's wrong with you idiot?

Aman:Oh..boss is angry..ok man..now business

Their conversation lasted for some time.Aman,who was away in Jaipur for a month had no idea about Arnav's feelings for Khushi.Aakash also joined them.

As they were talking Nani came to Arnav's room.

Nani:Arnav,Manorama called .She is arriving today with her sister and family.

Arnav ,Aakash and Aman together said:Oh..no..

Manorama,Nani's daughter in law,was with her sister for the past few weeks.She left just after the marriage of Anjali. Manorama's sister Madhumathi and family were in Mussorie.Her daughter Ankitha was very forward and her son Arjun was very friendly but very talkative.Ankitha was after Arnav and flirted with Aman also.

Arnav:I want Di here Nani...otherwise I'll stay away from here.

Aman:I'll keep away from here till they go.

Aakash:I'll stay in Payal's house

Arnav:No...I'll ask Di and Raj to come.She'll manage.

Nani:What about me?You can be in office in the morning.You've to suffer them only in the evening.But what can we do?Anyway they are coming for Jai's marriage.They will leave after that.

Aakash:Oh..I forgot.When is his marriage?

Nani:Next Sunday.

Jai was Arnav's cousin.

Arnav called Raj and Anjali and requested them to come home.

Anjali:What about Khushi?How can I leave her alone?

Arnav smiled and said:Bring her also.

Khushi didn't want to go to Raizada mansion.She tried to stay back with Raj's bua who was residing nearby.Anjali called Payal and she persuaded Khushi to come.Thus a very reluctant Khushi again reached Raizada mansion.Nani was relieved to see all of them.

Arnav and Aakash purposely came home late that night eventhough Arnav was eager to meet Khushi.Arnav hoped that all would have retired to bed. Instead to his horror he saw Ankitha waiting for them.Anjali ,Payal and Khushi were also there.Ankitha ran forward and hugged Arnav.Ankitha was a degree student.She was 18 years old and Arnav 27.Anjali giggled silently.Khushi was embarrassed.She was surprised to know that Ankitha's behavior annoyed her.

Arnav:Let me go and change.

Ankitha:Arnav,I was waiting for you.Please come back fast..ok?

Aakash was trying to control laughter.

Aakash:Where is Arjun?

Ankitha:He'll come tomorrow evening.

Arnav stole a look at Khushi.He saw disapproval on her face.She turned her face.

Arnav retired to his room and didn't come out that night.

A disappointed Ankitha went to bed.

Arnav knew that Ankitha used to wake up very late in the morning.He rose up early morning because he was feeling very hungry as he didn't take dinner the previous night.He came down and saw only Khushi in the kitchen.

He called: Khushi.She startled and turned around.

Arnav:Can I have a cup of coffee?

Khushi made coffee and gave it to him.He sipped the coffee by silently watching her.

Arnav:How are you?

Khushi:I'm fine.

Arnav:Khushi...I know that you are good in machine embroidery.If I provide material,can you make new designs?I saw the saree you were wearing yesterday.That was your work know?beautiful.

For the first time he saw her face glowing with excitement.

Khushi:I'll try..but I don't know whether you'll like it.

Arnav:Don't worry.Make the design,we'll discuss and then you can start.

Khushi:When?

Arnav:At the earliest.ehh..and thanks for the coffee.

Khushi:I'll make breakfast fast.You didn't have dinner yesterday know?

Arnav:Thank you

Arnav went to his room.He now understood one thing.She likes to work.He wanted to know more about her.He asked to himself:Why?

Khushi prepared breakfast and gave to Arnav.Nani who was coming from her room observed what was going on.She felt very happy and silently watched them.

Arnav left early for the office.He kept his laptop on the table and sat on his chair.He closed his eyes and was thinking about Khushi.

After a few minutes,his office door was opened and Aman came in.

Aman:Good morning yaar...How was the welcome given by your fan?

Arnav:Fan?

Aman:Ankitha ..

Arnav threw the tissue box at him.

Aman avoided it and laughed.

Arnav:I want to tell you an important matter.I intend to start a separate section for machine embroidery sarees.

Aman:Why a sudden decision?

Arnav:I saw the work of Khushi.It's good.

Aman looked at Arnav intently.

Arnav:Why are you looking at me like this?

Aman:Now I understand the reason for the sudden interest in machine embroidery

Arnav:Aman..I'll strangle you..you rogue..you are cooking up stories..

Aman:Why are you so emotional..it's a joke

The door opened and Aakash barged into the room.

Aakash:Bhai..you reached here early leaving me to the insane people.That Ankitha was asking for you..She said that she may be coming here today

Arnav and Aman:No...

They had a light talk and after that they were immersed in their work.

In the evening Arjun came.He became very friendly with Khushi.When Arnav returned from office he saw Khushi and Arjun chatting continuously.
