So today they showed that the sweet innocent doting baby sister Afreen isnt that innocent as she seems to be. She might be obedient on her brother's face but she did sneak out of the home without permission and informing.

My question is what do you think, was she right or wrong?

Nawab's rule of girls not leaving home at night are absurd and ridiculous, girls going out at night certainly DOES NOT determine a home's downfall, and afreen has all the right to demand her right of freedom but that does not mean that she will agree to her brother on face and deceive him behind his back. I dont agree to this.

On the other hand its a lesson for Nawab Sahib that you cannot put unrealistic restrictions on anybody and expect them to obey. If you will not consider your rules before imposing than u should be ready to be deceived by people you trust the most.

P.S - Iqbal is slaying it every single day, making me getting more and more intrigued by his character!

Well, if innocence implies you have to follow dictatorial orders like a lamb then, I for one, am happy she isn't innocent. What choice do women like her have anyways? Either you openly rebel and get locked up in a dingy room or bow down and stifle your desires forever. She followed the most down trodden path of manoeuvring the system a bit - getting what she wanted and at the same time avoiding offending her brother. It only gets problematic if she's using such means for the wrong ends and we don't really know what exactly she's upto, as of now.

I know the ideal situation here would be to make him see reason but that's definitely not happening here. And flouting such rules might not always be done to deceive the people you love but rather to fulfill your heart's desire. It doesn't always signify duplicity. Children with overtly strict pull off such tricks and it is not necessarily out of malice.
In fact, her sneaking out was more believable to me than showering her brother with untoward praises. Sure, he's a protective, loving brother and a decent human being but he's definitely not the kind of brother I would want to have!

Totally agree on the second part though 😉

Yeah he is strict but has allowed her freedom only according to his will, Afreen's will has never been asked or considered and i do agree that whatever happened, Afreen did break the decorum of the house.

I agree to you that her sneaking out might not be an offence as big as Nawab makes it to be but i have a slightly different perspective.

Afreen might be surrounded by strict rules but she sure isnt surrpounded by hypocrites .. Nawab, no matter how conservative he is , is not a hypocrite. Her mother, no matter how evil she is , is onot a ypocrite, she doesnt praise Nawab on his face and tries to back stab him. Whatever they are with eahc other, no matter how bitter Nawab and his step mother are .. they are honest. She has honest people around her, and in that a lie and manipulation came as a shock for me. Just like Nawab's respect for women after locking them in homes is not a justification, i dont think afreen's lies can be justified by her desires.

but then again, she is an innocent teenage girl who didnt have the courage to ask her brother something she knew he wont approve, or maybe she was guilty of even wanting and wishing for something she know isnt approved so she adopted the easiest path - lying, and more than Afreen , Its Nawab sahib's fault that she lied.

However, i am yet to see how far does his punishment extend, and what effect does it have on afreen, does she starts feeling guilty for betraying her brother or realises that what she demands is not wrong, just her way was wrong and she should amend the way .. not the wish.

P.S - I cant tell u how happy i am to find a die hard Iqbal Khan fan on this forum!! 😳

Okay, that makes sense. I get your perspective. But if her desires can't justify her lies, Nawaab sahib's and Abida's honesty can't justify their regressive thinking and open hostility either. And what honesty? Didn't Abida go behind Nawaab's back and paid his men to flout his orders? For all their apparent honesty, neither of them can trust, or rely on, the other. Raising up Afreen is a responsibility that they both chose to carry and together they haven't been able to create a congenial environment at home. To say that Afreen's act ruptured the reliance they had on each other is, I think, faulty.

It's a dysfunctional family to begin with. Afreen's mother too imbibes those very patriarchal notions she has been raised up with. The fact that the she's ready to hit her daughter without listening to her side of the story makes it evident that they don't really share an intimate bond. Nawaab and Afreen on the other hand, do have a lot of love and respect for each other but this respect has also created a distance between the two. When you respect someone so much there comes that element of 'lihaaz' between you two. Afreen, no matter how close to her brother, cannot share with him every thought that crosses her mind. In fact, the two conversations that we have witnessed between the two have concentrated on the Nawaab and his internal conflicts. Afreen hasn't ever talked about her thoughts and her emotions. It is therefore not surprising that she looks for a companion outside her home, which I think is good for her.

Besides, laying the charge of hypocrisy on her is a bit too much. She would be a hypocrite if she, like her brother, believed that going outside her home after a certain point would sully her honour and did it anyways. She hasn't ever expressed any sort of dissent with her brother's ideology but she hasn't assented to it either. It's more like a negotiation between what she wants and what he desires out of her. I'm not saying she's right but I feel she isn't wholly wrong either.
As for the confrontation between the siblings, I think Afreen would understand and apologise. But if her way is incorrect, is there any alternate way? The next time she wants to go out, say after seven, will her brother let her go?
I think I just played the devil's advocate here😆

Haha... the feeling is mutual. Have loved Iqbal since KYPH days and over the years I have not only been smitten by the actor but also have been impressed by his person.
I really wish to see him in a lead role soon

yeah that i agree .. they might be honest with each other in their hostility but as a result of that they made an inhospitable environment for Afreen. She cannot trust anybody, not her mother or brother .. she is the youngest so everybody is imposing thier ideologies on her and she is too much in awe with her brother that might stem from her feelings of seeing him alone since childhood and seeing him take all responsibilities alone .. and in that case .. yeah we sure cant say hypocrite but atleast what she did wasnt right ..

and haha yeah devil's advocate is fine .. 😆

and as for Iqbal .. i have loved him since KYPH too .. what a volcano of talent he is and as much as he is a star on screen .. i love him for what he is offscreen .. so non chalant considerate and humble person, like seriously who actually makes an effort to make their fans feel special! absolutely ADORE him .. and yeah hoping to see him in a lead super soon .. till then i am enjoying this negative stint very much! 😳

Okay my heart kind of melted for afreen today .. poor girl was genuinely sorry and no way she is a hypocrite .. she made an innocent mistake thinking she will do it just this one time and get away with it .. but i wanted her to realise that she needs to ask for independence in a better way .. but maybe its too soon for that ..
