This story starts off with Naina just coming back from reprimanding Amit for cheating with her. She breaks her relationship. And on the other hand, according to the spoilers, Raghav has just gotten kicked out of the house after being wrongly accused of "misbehaving" with Sanjana. This is how both of them meet after their respective instances and what follows.
Innsbruck, Austria
"Our engagement is over! WE are over! Good luck with your life Amit...", Naina exclaimed as she walked out of Amit's house in Austria with anger and hurt written on her face. She walked for sometime not able to comprehend what was going on in her mind, the anger and frustration and worry and hurt and so much more.
Then she stopped. No, she didn't break down and cry or scream to the universe about why this had to happen to her. Rather she was surprised. She was surprised that despite all that happened she felt something she never thought she would feel in this situation. Happiness, lightness and relief. Maybe that stranger she met, that nice guy whose name she always forgot to ask every time she met him, was right. She did feel better, because she was finally free from a bond that didn't cause her the happiness she expected it to. That man surely was her angel, he saved her, made her happy, took her home and helped her fight for herself in a mere two days and she didn't even know him. She suddenly started smiling and kept walking on her way home, ignoring the calls Amit kept sending her.
But she stopped again on her tracks, but this time for sadness. Not her own, and no realisations but for something else. How could she keep walking forward, when the reason for her happiness was crying in front of her.
Raghav was on the benches in front of the cafe at the metro station. Crying. At home, his family accused him of harassing Sanjana. He was helping her out, he screamed. He got hit. He would never do that to any woman. He got kicked some more. How could his family not trust him. They kicked him out without listening, without thinking of all he had done for them. Veer bhaiya was on his side but they didn't listen, not even Dadi. Without a word he left. Confused, crying, hurt, embarrassed, in pain and even shocked. He didn't even see Naina come sit by him.
Naina was shaken, why was he crying. Where was his laughter and stupid jokes? She put a light and on his shoulder and he looked at her and gave her a hug and cried, "They didn't listen. I didn't do anything I promise." Naina, although taken aback, hugged him back. She probably wouldn't have hugged anyone else, but he was different. This was different.
After sometime they pulled away. "I'm sorry, I..uh...I didn't...", explained Raghav. "It's okay," said Naina. "But can you please tell me what happened?," she asked. Raghav looked away not knowing what to say. "Please?," she urged. After a long silence, Raghav spoke about the events that occurred in the past couple of hours. At the end he was sobbing once again. Naina looked at him with worry, this kind gentleman, who did so much for her was in pain and she couldn't do anything for him. She put her hand on his shoulder once again and said, "Look, Mr...uh...?," realizing she still didn't know his name. "Raghav...Raghav Mehra," Raghav replied.
Suddenly her hand left his shoulder and all she could do was look at him in awe. "Raghav Mehra?...Angel?," she exclaimed. In his deep thoughts Raghav didn't hear what she said after his name and just nodded. In his thoughts Raghav told her all his heart felt in that moment. His hurt by his family, the loneliness he felt, the belonging he needed. All his pain and emotions spoke seamlessly while she continued to stare at him. He ended his words by simply saying, "...the truth is nobody cares, nobody notices, nobody remembers..."
Throughout his confession all Naina could do was collect herself and come out of her daze. But the last part, that caught her off guard. Does he not know how important, how special he is to those around him. How could he not know she wondered.
"Mr. Mehra, do you know who I am? I am Naina Batra...does that name ring a bell?," she asked. Raghav looked at her with a sudden surprise then a little bit of recollection. That name did sound familiar, but from where he couldn't remember. Naina proceeded to remind him of their conversation from that day making them both crack a smile as they remember their little confusion and chat. Then after sometime sitting in peace, Naina decided to share her thoughts too.
"Mr. Mehra, you are my angel. I would say to myself that God blessed me with two angels. One was that man who saved my mother's life that day and the other was a stranger who showed me more love and acceptance than any of my own did. Who knew that they were both the same. It might sound cliche and filmy to you, but you truly an angel for me. An angel who's worth thousands. Your an angel for every life you've saved, for every family you have brought happiness upon. They love you and pray for you everyday, just like me and my family. You are an angel to every person you've shared your smile with, to every stranger you've accepted. They appreciate your presence like no other. Sometimes we might feel alone, but when you are as good as you have been to those around you, you can never truly be alone. You are loved, and valued and appreciated by so many people, including me, " said Naina.
It was Raghav's turn to stare. Who was this girl, where did she come from, and all of a sudden she has made him feel so much more important and loved then everyone else he knew. He was shocked, confused and surprised. But despite all the thoughts in his head all he did was smile. A genuine, big smile for the lady in front of him who was so easily successful in making him forget his worries.
And all of a sudden, like another addition to his list of bad things, it started to snow. And while his smile turned upside down, the lady sitting next to him jumped, twirled and screamed like a child in the snow. That had to be, at least in Raghav's opinion, the weirdest thing to happen today.
Naina took a look back at the man who sat there looking at her like she lost her mind. Suddenly she grabbed his hand and made him jump and run around with her. Why he let himself play in the white sea of death with this girl, Raghav would never know but he let himself let go. They played like children for sometime in the snow when all of a sudden Raghav stopped. The hurt piling up in him again. The happiness to have finally found a genuine friend who didn't care about his background and appreciated him for who he was. The grief of his family. He looked up to see a troubled Naina staring at him. And then, for the second time that evening he walked towards her and gave her another tight hug.
This time Naina was not surprised and hugged him back with full force.
The hug was not romantic or cute. It was just one of gratitude and of friendship. One of trust and hope. It was their way of thanking each other for what they had done that night and before. It was their way of assuring the other of their presence and support. It was a hug to help each other from breaking.
But with their hug also came tears. Not of Raghav or Naina, but the tears of Dadi. Dadi who sat in her car looking out at Raghav and Naina since the time she came till the hug they shared now. As soon as Sanjana confessed her mistake, she ran out to find her Raghav and to apologize for her words and actions. But sitting here and looking at the two of them and the bond they were sharing, she could not disturb them. She was crying tears of sadness for the unfair humiliation her Raghav faced. She was crying tears of happiness knowing that there was at least someone else out there that was able to take care of her Raghav. She continued sitting in the car watching them break from their hug, laugh and continue to throw snowballs at each other until they got cold and went inside the coffee shop.
She needed to ask Raghav about this mysterious girl. But before that she had to make it up to him somehow. And as she drove out of that station she truly did feel that things might just start getting better for her little young man.
