A still from Virudh

Smriti Irani's on-and-off show Virrudh, that was launched amidst much fanfare early this year, is finally being pulled off air. Interestingly, Sony TV wanted the show to continue, but Smriti felt that she had completed the story that she wanted to tell.

A source says, "In fact, Smriti wanted to pull it off this month but the channel heads asked her to continue since they did not have a show that could replace Virrudh."

Smriti confirms that Virrudh will indeed go off air next month. She says, "Virrudh is coming to a logical end. I am happy and proud that Sony TV gave me the opportunity to produce my first daily show. I have no complaints. The show won five awards in the recent television awards functions. I am signing off on a contented note."

If sources are to be believed, the channel has almost finalised Ratna Sinha's show Aabha that will replace Virrudh.

its good that she is ending it. Atleast ppl will now remember it as a good show. I've watched so many ekta shows that are great in the begining but are strained towards the end and im left feeling like i've wasted my time for so long.

till a few weeks back i wud hv been heartbroken with this news. but, now i can see that the writers r making haywire of the story and cant keep things in track.

the present storyline is so frustrating and idiotic that i am happy it is ending without further downfall. also after DRS death, there was nothing left in the story as the serial was revolving around vasu-DRS-sushant.
with DRS gone, only one thing remained and that is sushant vasudha marriage. and once that is done there wont be anything left except a 20 year leap which i dont at all support. so, the writers were trying to delay the marriage and in doing so spoilt the story. so, its good decision by smriti to end the show by solving everything fast.

only sad thing is that a fantastic (till a few weeks back) serial like virrudh cudnt even last 1 year and nonsense serials like the k-serials run for many years.

i only wish the writers of indian serials cud sustain a good script for at least a couple of years.
