Just for a few more seconds, he ordered himself to be patient as he saw her drenched face and too warm body. Her hand was about to slip from his and he gripped it harder, without hurting her. Only one thought kept him from collapsing that moment: Anika needs his help. And so, armed with an ice pack, he cooled her down, feeling each bead of sweat that made her skin glisten like burnished gold. Why did it feel as if half of him was burning with her while the rest of him was made to live through these moments of living hell?
He did not know what was worse: The earlier moments when he'd been informed that Anika was missing, the time when he sensed she was around but could not get to her, or the moments now when she was right in front of him, unconscious and barely breathing.
Another part of him was livid at not being with her. Fear for her in his absence had been haunting him for some days now and each day brought some new near-injury in its wake.
It dawned on him that she could take care of herself but somehow, somehow, he needed to help her do it. He didn't even realize when the need to keep her safe became stronger than anything else. This worry for her that was exposed every time she's in trouble, it tore apart the cool mask he tried to maintain only to reveal her pain mirrored in him.
Taking a deep breath, focusing on only the feeling of her hand in his, Shivaay Singh Oberoi prepared himself to go through the next excruciating set of seconds till she finally opened her beautiful eyes and looked at him, justifying his presence in the world that had begun to matter to him more than the world he lived in.
Okay, that's it.
I truly loved the scene. I don't know how Nakuul ups the intensity every time Anika is in trouble or is about to be hurt. It's wonderful.
