...Chapter - 50...
"Wanna start afresh wifey?"
As ridiculous as it seems, it just kept reverberating in her mind. How could he? Is it so easy to leave everything behind and start afresh? Nope that's not easy for her to forget and move on... Her feelings are not something to play with, deep engraved pain of loneliness started to emerge from the deep confines which she'd kept hidden even from herself...
Those heavenly bodies, shining brightly spread across the vast blackness, seems like the shares of happiness God had bestowed her upon with... Sometimes it came and at the end they diminishes... Life had always a challenge for her, at every step without anyone at back, that's the thing frustrated her more...
No one to hold when she fall, no one to handle when she was surrounded by problems, no one to share when she badly wants a companion... All these complaints seems like vanished the moment, when Dadi had fixed her marriage... A lot of expectations and dreams her soft heart had weaved at that time, but was brutally crushed at the very first day of her marriage... The stubborn droplets slid down from the corner of her beautiful chocolate brown orbs, whom adamantly she'd opposed till now...
The vibration from her phone brought her back from the ugly truth of her life... Standing on the open big window after a hectic day at radio station brought the unpleasant experience she'd ought to forget... Keeping a check on her sore throat she answered the call...
"I'm sorry Jo!"
That's the first thing she heard from the other end... A whole month had passed after that night, the night that have riled up her emotionally, drained sentiments invariably...
The most needed break in their relationship is what she'd wished that night, glimpses of hurt were scattered throughout his features but masking his helplessness he was compelled to agree... Meticulously realization had dawned upon his persona that all the rights that their marriage had bestowed him with, were snatched up from him due to his own deeds...
****
"Jo? You there?"
Not hearing any sound from there increased his restlessness, the humming and monosyllables are the only sounds that soothes his burning within...
"Hmmm"
Placing his head against the terrace wall, he watched the celestial bodies scattered throughout the darkness... Dark bags can be clearly identified under his mesmerizing orbs, sleep was his enemy from the time she stepped out of their home... From that very day, he'd granted her the freedom she deserves but with a condition... She wants to take a break, he'd all time to give her but she have to be back to him, selfish! His conscience had mocked up but could he let her leave? No! An immediate answer that his heart had given...
*****
"Kesi ho?" Again her ear drums were hit by that hoarse voice, she'd been hearing on phone...
"Good!" Nothing much than this she could answer, and nothing much than this he could expect...
"Done with dinner?" Again he asked, and she answered with a humming... Pressing her lower lip with her teeths, she tried to control the urge to release the cry, that always stuck in her throat from the moment his phone came everyday...
Daily, the same questions, the same answers, the same talks smoothes their traumatized souls... Nothing much was left to say or hear between them, only the silence after his daily questions talks about their sufferings...
She couldn't gather the courage to even ask him, afraid that her voice will give away the soft feelings that she'd been hiding beneath these monosyllabes and humming... This one hour was bliss, when their silence speaks about their loneliness and pain...
And she cuts the call, 'coz an incorrigible lump forms in her throat to even utter a single bye, like always since this whole month... Clutching the gadget close to her heart she sat down admiring the enchanting dark night...
*****
His gaze was fixed on the mobile screen, were she's pouting beside him... Crazy her! And a painful smile adorned his lips... How much fuss she'd created to make him pout with her and click a selfie, his wallpaper at the time...
"Come back soon jaan! I'm waiting" he whispered and looked up watching the beautiful night, tears accumulated in his orbs finally rolled down to his rough cheeks...
*****
Silently she closed the door, and closed the moistened orbs pressing her lips in a thin line...
That night after relishing her husband's old memories, both have sat for a long time... Out of blue, she asked about the weird behavior Jodha deciphered... It's looked really weird!
Sujamal unable to hold himself back, just poured that he had buried down in his years... And in return he was gifted with a slap and furious Misha with red eyes...
"You're a coward Sujamal! I regret suja! That's not what I've expected from my husband... Shame on you!!"
That are the exact words she literally spat at him while loathing him thoroughly... Her heart went out for the poor girl whom she'd given the useless advice that her husband and best friend needed badly... She felt like a big fool to somewhere blame Jodha for misery of her husband where exactly he's the culprit...
Guilt had taken over her and that day itself she brought Jodha to her house... Their relation is developing though slowly yet strongly... A smile touched her thin lips and feeling of betterment started to settle in...
A sweet friend, a cute sister and an amazing companion, she'd had become in such a short period of time...
Click open of door caught her attention, there she was out with her red swollen eyes... And without any delay, she's in her babhi's embrace... A recent development, Jodha had finally verbally named their relation...
****
Jodha was surprised with the sudden hug, but nevertheless she snaked her hands around her brother's wife... Smiling at the feel of little baby bump, she patted her back...
"Everything is gonna be fine..." She heard the feathery whisper, her dull mood was lifted with that one assurance... This phase has reminded her of Dadi, but could she had troubled that old lady? No! Of course not! But a friendly support through Misha helped her to fight against him and ask for the break, must needed for them to untangle themselves from tangled emotions...
"Bhabhi... You fine?" Worried along with amused she asked...
Humming she dragged her to their open balcony and made her sit there...
"Ok! So where we were yesterday?" A suddenly excited Misha asked... Rolling her eyeballs at her dramatic sister in law, she scrunched her nose reminiscing the last point of an old serial, whose story her bhabhi was telling...
"Bhabhi where Nimrat met with an accident... I think" she said in thinking mode... Hope! It's not last point of yesterday... Praying sincerely she sat to heard the ridiculous tale of a flop daily soap...
"Oh yes!! Ok then nimrit met with an accident and amrit proved it to be an accident and..." The ranting started while jodha was trying to grasp whatever her sister in law telling in an animated way with different hand movements... Misha smiled watching her distracted, that's her motto to at least distract her for sometime and compensate for her husband's deed... Though she knows it's not in her league, her wounds were too deep to heal but still she tried...
*****
He kept staring into oblivion, everyday he apologized in a hope to hear that his apology was accepted... But that time still is far away...
His black bluish orbs started to flow for her, her one glimpse... How much her picture can provide the assurance to his ruptured heart... His honderrous deeds started to haunt him down... This emptiness runs to bite his soul every time he entered in his hollow house... She is important to him, he's aware about this fact, but what he doesn't know is that she's just not only his life, but his need to... He needs her to live, to breath, to feel, otherwise he's an walking corpse...
The subsided anger started to emerge back with full force, anger for himself... This redemption seems to wake up the devil that had slept after her arrival... Repentance is something, never had he experienced in his entire life and now when this phase has arrived his sanity started to loose... Initial days were spent in self destruction, hitting the walls, oozing his frustration on glass crockery, wailing but all subsided when nobody came to his rescue, the remaining madness rescued out in forms of tears...
*****
Misha slowly closed the door without making a noise after her sister in law had slept and headed towards her room...
He looked up through his glasses and flashed her a soft smile which was royally ignored... He kept watching his wife sleeping on the bed, sighing he closed his eyes...
This had been a routine from that night... She'd ignoring him, the sound of that slap still reverberating in his ears...
"You're a coward Sujamal! I regret suja! That's not what I've expected from my husband... Shame on you!!"quoting the exact words, his conscience mocked at him evenly throughout the day... The extent his sister had suffered was now becoming clearler than before... Only if he wouldn't have acted on impulse and didn't acted like an coward... Situation would be different, and... Happy...
He'd never had asked an apology from his sister, because always the fear of rejection had stopped him... But isn't she was one who had suffered same from him... How much torturous and painful it had been for Her? His heart twisted at the mere thought... Wiping the salty droplets that had still accumulated his eyes but dared not to drop down... Furiously wiping out the blurred vision he made an resolve to apologize the next morning...
