Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor's cold war over Padmavati'

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's long-awaited film 'Padmavati' is finally set to go on floors later this year but the troubles for the director do not seem to end. According to reports, the two male leads of the film - Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor - do not see eye to eye. Apparently, Bhansali has been calling both the actors for dinners to his place to help the two get along but the two have declined all such invitations. The reason for the cold war between the two is Ranveer's alleged displeasure at his role being changed from that of an anti-hero to a conventional villain to accommodate for Shahid getting a meatier role.

When 'Padmavati' was initially planned, Ranveer's character Alauddin Khilji was meant to be the anti-hero to Deppika Padukone's Rani Padmini. The second male lead - Padmini's husband Rana Rawal Ratan Singh, was supposed to be a secondary character and Vicky Kaushal was signed to play the role. But after Deepika's refusal to romance the relatively unknown Vicky, the role went to Shahid. Reports claim that after Shahid's entry, the script underwent a number of changes to give Shahid a more substantial role, which also resulted in Ranveer's character arc being changed, something that has not gone down too well with the 'Bajirao Masatni' actor. With less than a month to go for the shoot, it remains to be seen how Bhansali will manage his two actors and get on with the shoot.
