Salaam Pariva!
The actor is thrilled to play lady cop Maanya Sharma in 'Salaam Zindagi' amidst the saas bahu overflow
MUMBAI: "When you wear the police uniform, you automatically feel powerful," says actor Pariva Pranati, who essays the role of a police inspector in 'Salaam Zindagi' (Sony). The uniform gives her another reason to feel proud. "My dad was in the air force. So he feels happy to see me in uniform," says she.
That she is doing something different from the regular saas-bahu fare makes her elated. "I am hoping that my show sticks to its basic concept," she asserts.
Acting happened by chance to Pariva. "I had come to Mumbai when dad got a transfer here. Here, people suggested that I get my portfolio done since I was photogenic. Soon I had bagged my first show 'Bhabhi' followed by 'Virrudh' and 'Saathi Re'.
About her role in 'Salaam Zindagi', she says, "Maanya Sharma is like me in many ways. Though she is sensitive, she's also headstrong. She balances her work and home well."
And did she do any homework for her role of a cop? "Not really. But I faintly remember seeing the television show 'Udaan' as a kid and some films on lady cops. But I haven't really done any research. I want to essay the character without following in anyone's footsteps. I was briefed about my character and body language, which I adhere to," she shares adding, "I am still getting used to the long and erratic working hours. It leaves me little time for anything else. But yes, like every actor, I sure want to do films."
