How are TRPs calculated?

Okay one basic question here..

This week I tried to watch the episodes live stating I was contributing to the TRP...My husband mentioned TRP can be calculated only it the set top box is enabled to capture TRP and apparently it wont work if we watch it or not...

I live in Mumbai and have Tata Sky at home.. So how exactly are TRPs calculated. Because most people I know living in my building do follow the show and watch it live.

Seriously it's a big question how TRP calculated????
Don't know anything... bt it really sad Ki amazing shows like KRPKAB don't get TRP Nd all FALTU ka always get high trp... ...

Because most people watch it live.. so how exactly do we contribute...

I was told that the TRP meter needs to be installed... so how do they actually select who installs this and what is the background of the people who are selected...

With Set top boxes, these should be able to capture right who watches what??
