Lets face it. The actual white people barely know any Bollywood or cricket star, so nope not Salman either. These midget Khans are just stars in the desi communities, thats it.

Actually agreed. The only Khan that people know in "non-desi" community countries is actually largely SRK. Speaking from experience of my own country, people associate Hindi movies with Shah Rukh Khan here. I have friends from non-Asian descent, who hardly understand a little bit of Hindi, but they know SRK's movies and songs. That's hardly the little they know about Bollywood actually.

Aamir and Salman may be bigger names in India, but Shah Rukh is far more popular overseas. I don't know how that turned out, but it has. And what's even more surprising, his popularity has transcended generations. Despite relatively few hit movies in the last couple of years, the younger generation still knows about his older movies. I've never heard of people (except people from Indian, Pakistan etc origin) talk about any other Khan, Akshay, Ajay or even Mr. Amitabh Bachan for that matter, in the same way.

Coming to the topic in question, I've always felt Cricket is life in India. Salman may be a star, but Dhoni is idolized. Plus, BW keeps divisions mostly amongst stars. When it comes to cricket, even amidst controversies, you're for India. People revere cricket. Heck Indians out here gather and throw parties when huge matches are coming up.

Salmana is no2 behind Amir. If he beat PK's record, then I ll accept him as no1. Agar yesi topics se mirchi lagti hai to ignore karo,, kyoun apna dimag kharab karte ho.

To all who are saying cricketers are known more worldwide then I must say you are unaware of the fact cricket is not common sport in many countries like most of Europe (excluding U.K), North & South America ( that takes away major set of fans in USA, Canada, Brazil & Argentina where bollywood movies are shown), China, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia are exposed to Bollywood. Again where cricket is not even relevant.
Now to the countries that do have cricket in common, England (and rest of UK) - main sports there is football, cricket may follow but the craze is mostly for soccer in that country. South Africa, Australia & New Zealand where rugby and leagues are the thing. Cricket is not even half watched or followed as rugby is in those countries.

Now saying Dhoni is more popular overseas compared to Salman, SRK or Aamir is pretty silly if you ask me.

TBH I think Virat is more popular. Between Salman and Dhoni its the latter who is more popular. Though its really tough to maintain the Khans level for popularity for 25 years. I dont think any cricketer managed that...not even Sachin.
