Chapter 1:
Atharva opened his eyes but closed it again as a bright light hit his eyes. He opened his eyes again and this time kept them open. It took a little time but eventually he realized that it was day time and the light was nature given. A worried face was looming over him. But it was not the face he was expecting to see. But then he had no idea what or whom he was searching for. So, he returned his gaze to the woman in front of him. Beautiful brown colored eyes stared back at him surrounded by long and thick eye lashes. Her waist long black hair was loose. She has oval face with a sense of innocence in it and she is wearing a doctor's uniform. That wake him up. For the first time he noticed his surroundings. Indeed he was in a hospital. The name tag in her uniform said "Dr. Mouni Sing" .
Mouni: Hello. How are you?
Atharva crocked an eyebrow towards her.
Atharva: Agar main theek hota to yaha thodi na hota! So, why don't you tell me how am I?
[If I had been alright, I wouldn't end up here don't you think?]
Mouni sighed inwardly and counted ten to one inside her head. It always helps to control her anger. The universe was laughing at her. Can she never ever get a good patient? Why on her little career every patient she got turned out to be cocky? She plastered a fake smile on her face and coated her voice with sugar.
Mouni: Watch where you step mister. Or you might end up in your deathbed rather than going home.
Diplomacy was never her strongest suit. Right now she just kissed goodbye with any further co-operation with her current patient. She might even get sacked.
Atharva sat up on his bed and crossed his hands over his chest.
Atharva: Do I have a home Doc? Or my first question should be "Who am I"?

Vividha got ready and went down to kitchen to help Suman making breakfast. It turned out she was already there cooking something. Vividha smiled.
Suman: Good morning beta.
Vividha: Morning ma. Aap kya bana rahi hai?
Suman smiled fondly.
Suman: Mere bete ko rajma bohot pasand hai. Usske liye wahi bana rahi thi. Aaj usska birthday jo hai. Tumhe to pata hi hoga.
[My son likes rajma a lot. I cooking this for him. Today is his birthday. But you already know that.]
Vividha stared at her blankly. In the past few months she really never tried to know the man who was her husband. But if she knew anything that he was a very private man and loved his family unconditionally. They had to go through hard length to hide the nature of their true relationship from the family. That man sheltered her even after knowing the whole truth. She didn't want to go back her home because going back will mean that she will have to face her father. She didn't even want to see his face. After knowing everything Ravish asked very nicely if she want to go home. She couldn't say anything. There was this fear in her mind that if she go back, her father will go back from his word. She couldn't let that happen. May be understanding her situation Ravish didn't say anything about going. But he asked for one thing. No one shall know about the real truth behind the marriage. After what she had put that man through this is the least she can do. So, she smiled and nodded.
Suman mistook her silence as shyness and smiled. She came forward and took Vividha's hand in hers.
Suman: Pata ha Vividha, mera beta hamesha se thoda alag raha hai. Jab sare bacche party karte the tab woh library k eek kone pe baith ke chupke se books padta tha. He was the one I never had to worry about. Par mujhe hamesha ek chinta jarur khai jati thi ki jab woh shadi karega tab usski patni kaisi hogi. Kya woh Ravish ko sach mein samajh payegi? Vividha tumne meri sari pareshania dur kar di. Mujhse wada karo ki tum mere Ravish ko chodke kabhi nehi jaogi. Wada karo ki tum usse kabhi dhoka nehi dogi. Wada karo ki tum har kadam mein usska sath nibhaogi. Wada karo mujhse Vividha.
[You know Vividha, my son has always been a little bit different. WHen other kids went around doing party, he used to sit in the remote corner of a library reading books. He was the one I never had to worry about. But one thing always bugged me. When he will get married, will his wife understand the real him? Vividha you made all my worries go away. Promise me that you will never leave Ravish. Promise me that you will never betray him. Promise me that you will always support him. Promise me Vividha.]
Vividha just stared at her helplessly. She felt just as helpless as she felt on her wedding day. That time the helplessness came in form of her love and her father was the one who put her in that situation. That time she build an armor of hatred and shield her heart with it. But this time it came in the form of a mother's love and she had no defense against it.

Sujata is waiting outside eagerly. Ever since she heard that Atharva has gained consciousness her heart is demanding to meet her son. But the young doctor who is attending Atharva firmly forbade her. They had no idea about his state. Three months in coma can mess with anyone's head. Sujata tried to argue that it was Atharva they were talking about. It was her Atharva and he can never change. But the doctor dug her heels on it so she had to wait. After what seems like one hour the doctor came outside. Her face sprouted a haggard look. It seems she was in deep thought. Sujata rushed to her and blocked her path. By the sudden movement she got startled and looked up.
Sujata: Doctor mera beta. Kaisa hai ho? Theek to hai na?
[Doctor my son. Hows he? Is he alright?]
Mouni bit her lower lips. Thinking if she should lie. But then decided against it. Atharva's mother has every right to know the truth.
Mouni: Unki external aur internal injuries to heal ho gya hai. But he is suffering from amnesia. Woh apne jindegi ka saab kuch bhul chukka hai. Usse to apna naam tak nehi yaad.
[His external and internal injuries had been healed. But he s suffering from amnesia. He has forgotten every single moment of his life. He even forgot his name.]
Sujata stumbled back. Fresh tears found its way towards down. Mouni went forward and caught Sujata's hand.
Mouni: Maaji aap aise haar nehi man sakti. Bhale hi usse kuch yaad nehi par hai to aapki hi ka beta. Aise cases mein yadash wapas aneke chances 50/50 percent hota hai. Aapko himmat se kaan lena hoga. Haam unpe kisi bhi tarah ka pressure nehi dal sakte. Agar haam jabardasti unhe kuch yaad dilaneki kousis karenge to woh phirse coma mein ja sakte. Aur shayed tab haam usse ekdam se kho denge.
[Mother you can't loose hope. I agree he forgot everything but he is still your son. The chances of him coming back is 50/50 percent. You will have to be brave. We can't force him to remember. If we try such things, it can damage his psyche and he will slip into coma. May be then he will never come back.]
Sujata: Par mera beta.
[But my son.]
Mouni: Maaji aap chinta maat kijye. Main hoom na. I promise main apni tarafse puri ki puri kousis karungi ki Atharva theek ho jaye. Don't worry.
[Mother please don't worry. I am here. I promise I shall do my best. Don't worry]

Atharva stared at the celling not knowing that to do or what to think. Last night when he finally gained consciousness everything was covered in darkness. There was no sound around him. Sleep was claiming him again but this time it was real sleep not a sleep like state he had been and he let it claim him again. But before surrendering to sleep he figured out two things..
One, he had no idea who he was or where was he.
Two, he couldn't remember a single moment form his life.
