In this rasam bride is the center of attention,attraction...
The bride has to get ready heavily dressed ...
This rasam is for all the relatives n friends...
All the relatives n friends cum n see her face, then the bride respects them n they give some money or gift as a reward for seeing the bride first time...
They perform some formalities...
I know only this much...

As Pallavi said in her post.According to Bengali rituals girl will wear the dress given by parents on wedding .The dress given by MIL.She will wear it for reception or any other imp rasam after marriage in sasural. So if Muh Dikhai is happening.Sona will wear the dress given by Ishwari.

Actually this rasm came into existence when the brides used to put ghoonghat or veil on their face with their pallu, Chunni or whatever, since she never shows her face to the elder male members of the house, but ofcourse with an exception of her husband.. 😆

So during Mooh dikhaayi, it was a completely ladies only program where relatives, friends and neighborhood ladies come at home and each one of them pulls up the ghoonghat of the bride, looks at her post marital look, compliment her beauty and gift her with some present. (I am not very sure but in some parts of India ladies apply sindoor to the bride as well during this rasm)

Now since the tradition of hiding the face is almost non- existent, the brides usually put the pallu over their head or I don't know if they don't do that either. And all the elder family members (including the husband 😉)give the bride gifts.

I think it should be a happy happy sequence...
But smooth ride ho krpkab mein, aisa hona thoda mushkil hai...😆
